SONS OF ALPHA CENTAURI: Everything Is Noise Premieres “Ephemeral” From Post-Hardcore Outfit Featuring Far And Will Haven Members; Fourth LP Pull, Nears Release Via Exile On Mainstream Records

UK/US-based post-hardcore outfit SONS OF ALPHA CENTAURI – fronted by cult emo icon vocalist Jonah Matranga from post-hardcore legends Far and Gratitude – prepares to release their anxiously awaited fourth LP, Pull, via Exile On Mainstream Records on March 28th. Today, Everything Is Noise offers an exclusive premiere of the album’s lead single, “Ephemeral.”

Having previously collaborated with Godflesh, Karma To Burn, Yawning Man, and members of Kyuss, ISIS, and Queens Of The Stone Age, SONS OF ALPHA CENTAURI delivered one the most critically acclaimed alternative metal albums of 2021 with Push, which ranked No. 8 for Metal Hammer’s Top 10 Alternative Metal albums in 2021. MetalSucks proclaimed, “The results are absolutely explosive. Fans of Far, as well as post-hardcore/alternative metal contemporaries like Quicksand, are going to absolutely eat this up.” BrooklynVegan premiered Push’s “Buried Under” single, writing, “A dose of heavy, soaring post-hardcore that really sounds like it could be a new Far song, which is a very good thing to sound like.”

Now, SONS OF ALPHA CENTAURI’s Pull arrives, capturing both a renaissance of 1990s post-hardcore and a future take on atmospheric dream metal. The band is once again joined by drummer Mitch Wheeler – the percussive powerhouse and backbone of Will Haven and founding member of Ghostride and The Abominable Iron Sloth – who together with guitarist Marlon King and bassist Nick Hannon bring a formidable hard rock foundation for Matranga’s emotional and ethereal overlay. Pull depicts the essence of Around The Fur-era Deftones, the simplicity of Water And Solutions-era Far, and the integrity of Will Haven’s Carpe Diem, the hypnotic and harmonic pulse of the music and the soaring introspective power of Jonah’s wrought, raw vocals provide an ever-emotional journey that sees new peaks in performance for all involved.

Pull was recorded by Lance Jackman of Deftones and Joe Johnson at Pus Cavern Studios in Sacramento (Deftones, Dance Gavin Dance, Will Haven), engineered and mixed by Dan Lucas, and mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East Mastering (Cave In, Converge, Pelican, ISIS).

Founding SONS OF ALPHA CENTAURI bassist Nick Hannon comments, “‘Ephemeral’ was the first track Jonah cut in the studio and it just burst out of him. His soaring vocals and the pulse of the track set the tone for the whole record in the studio and as soon as he laid it down, we knew the whole record was going to be next level. Jonah reflects on everything, and this track is his signature uplifting style wrapped in a riff impossible not to sink into – check it!”

Everything Is Noise writes, “‘Ephemeral’ plays around with and features elements from many realms of alternative and modern metal. With a catchy and grungy main riff that’s followed by incredibly nuanced and powerful vocals from Jonah, the ‘90s vibes are very real and ranging all the way from Alice In Chains to Faith No More in its initial moments. Somehow, it transcends genres even further with a hook that rivals what the better progressive metal bands are doing and even manages to take a lot from classic Deftones, too. It’s a perfect blend of classic and modern within the alternative metal world and just tasty from beginning to end.”
