Recorded by Steve Poponi at Gradwell House Recording in Haddon Heights, New Jersey, as was CLAMFIGHT’s 2010 debut Volume I, the thundering nine-track attack of I Versus The Glacier magnifies the band’s signature blend of sludge, thrash, and doom.

Today, as the label makes the album available for fans to preorder ultra-early – as CLAMFIGHT albums are indeed on everybody’s Christmas lists – the fine individuals that man the help at online music community Stereokiller have hosted an exclusive stream of the second track from I Versus The Glacier.

Those in the vicinity of Wilmington, Delaware can catch CLAMFIGHT’s last show of 2012 this Saturday, while additional live excursions are devised preceding album’s release date in January and throughout 2013.

GOD SEED Premieres “Alt Liv” Video Via Metal Injection

Thursday, November 29th, 2012

Today Metal Injection offers up the official North American premiere of GOD SEED’s “Alt Liv” video. Produced by Mats Willassen in the depths of the Norwegian wilderness, “Alt Liv” comes off the band’s recently released I Begin full-length and truly encompasses the ambiance and spirit of the track.

Check it out at THIS LOCATION.

Additionally, the video is being premiered at in the UK, in Germany and in France!

Among the most anticipated black metal releases in recent memory, I Begin was unleashed stateside on October 22 through Indie Recordings and continues to earn hails and horns domestically and abroad. Revolver commends the album in a 4/5 review saying: “Rather than put out more Burzum-influenced black-metal backwash, they’ve interpolated elements of gloom-rock, prog, and even experimental electronics into their classic-black collages, and, as improbable as it may seem, the variety works,” notes: “The craving to experiment is obvious throughout, with warm vintage tones clashing with icy avant-hues. Yet the album’s adventurousness never obscures its pitch-black heart; GOD SEED ensures the frosty assault of black metal is accentuated in any eccentric diversions,” while Blistering adds: “You couldn’t necessarily find the GOD SEED dudes at fault for wanting to continue down the (left-hand) path walked during their time with Gorgoroth, yet I Begin will enter the win column because of its unpredictable nature. In essence, the ‘70s vibe put out coalesces with the bleak and bloody black metal of Gorgoroth’s ‘00s output, and when you stop to compare the respective albums, is probably better than what Gorogorth was putting out a decade ago.” Exclaim agrees: “I Begin is an ambitious and powerful debut, which builds on the foundation of the band members’ notable pedigrees, but is also not content to rest on those laurels, pushing beyond the comfort zone of their rasping, bombastic black metal past into something more intricate.”

The album’s first single, “This From The Past,” premiered via esteemed music portal, Pitchfork. If you missed it, check it out HERE. GOD SEED is currently on the Creatures From The Black Abyss Tour 2012 alongside Cradle Of Filth. See remaining dates below. GOD SEED features within its ranks Gaahl, King Ov Hell, Geir (Dimmu Borgir), Lost (Grimfist), Sir (Trelldom, Djerv) and Kenneth (Motorpsycho) and I Begin is the first studio album King and Gaahl release together since Gorgoroth’s Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam.

Thursday, November 29th, 2012

Chicago’s EARTHEN GRAVE welcomes Chris Wozniak (Lair of the Minotaur), as the band’s new drummer. Wozniak replaces previous drummer Scott Davidson.

Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Chris “Woz” Wozniak has performed on drums in a variety of rock, folk, and metal bands for over 20 years. He has played with local acts Trifog and Blood of Martyrs, and is currently the drummer for national acts I Klatus and Lair of the Minotaur. In reference to LOTM’s 2008 release War Metal Battle Master, Decibel Magazine described Woz as being “skilled at treating his drum kit like trash cans that must be killed.”  It’s this very intensity which made him the perfect fit for Chicago’s epic doom collective.

Bassist Ron Holzner will be guest DJing on Diane Farris’ Peer Pressure segment of her radio program on WFMU TODAY (Thursday, November 29th). Listeners will be able to ask Holzner questions via the live interactive playlist. Holzner’s appearance is scheduled for 1:00pm – 2:30pm EST. DEMON LUNG Signs To Candlelight

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

Candlelight Records today confirms the worldwide signing of DEMON LUNG. The Las Vegas-based quartet, featuring guitarist Phil Burns, bassist Patrick Warren, drummer Jeremy Brenton, and vocalist Shanda Fredrick, is scheduled to begin recording of their full-length debut at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California with producer Billy Anderson (Sleep, High on Fire, Eyehategod) in the coming weeks. It is anticipated for a Spring 2013 release date.

Metal Hammer called the band’s self-released 4-song demo Pareidolia, “earthy yet horror-themed doom metal a la Candlemass with an Acrimony Groove.” The magazine calls Fredrick a “wild-eyed, satanic songstress.” Popular music and film site Ave Noctum notes, “DEMON LUNG has a deft touch and solid sound. Their music is clearly from the soul. Fair to say they are a welcomed addition to the ranks of the doomed.” Teeth of the Divine adds, “Fredrick has the requisite sultry pipes that keep a steady, hazy tone. She has a deep, bluesy voice that fits the languid music perfectly.”

The band comments, “we are very honored to join the Candlelight roster. To be included among such talented artists is very humbling, and we thank the great people at Candlelight for giving us the opportunity.”

DEMON LUNG has shared the stage alongside Pentagram, High on Fire, Jucifer, Witch Mountain, and Castle and will resume performing once recording has been completed.

KHORS: Ukrainian Black Metal Heathens Issue New Video

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

Ukrainian black metal heathens KHORS recently unleashed a video for “The Last Leaves.” Shot live at the Metal Heads’ Mission Festival this past August in Crimea, Ukraine, the track comes off the band’s Wisdom Of Centuries full-length issued via Candlelight Records’ Cult Series earlier this Fall. Check it out below.

KHORS features former members of Hate Forest, Tessaract, and Drudkh. Their fifth full-length Wisdom Of Centuries is enhanced by the use of various ethnic instruments, is the first performed in the band’s native tongue and continues to reap the praise of critics domestically and abroad. Comments MetalSucks in a 4/5 review: “Wisdom Of Centuries is full of charred vocals, tremolo-picked minor chords, and drums comfortably volleying between Celtic Frost strides and traditional black metal blasts. It’s the quiet moments…that are the most evocative: while many of their peers are content with downshifting into folk or unintentionally-‘80s keyboard symphonies, KHORS drape warm layers of synths over their frosty dervish. The pair of instrumentals in the middle of the album work as a fine palate-cleanser, relying on Wagnerian brass and Deftones-esque drumming in equal parts to relieve and build tension. It’s not the most innovative black metal album, but the tweaks that are implemented work beautifully.” notes, “KHORS is steadily becoming a force in the atmospheric black metal scene,” Popdose commends the band’s “atmospheric brand of black metal that has progressed from rawness, to precision and darkness over time. They’ve always used keyboards giving their music somewhat of a psychedelic sound and even prog-ish at times though with this new album they enhance their sound better than on any other disc,” while Decibel champions KHORS’ “tasteful keyboard usage and traditional folkie instrumentation.”

THINNING THE HERD Drop Intoxicating Video From Upcoming Album

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

New York City rock/sludge trio THINNING THE HERD have unfurled a brand new self-released video from their pending third full-length, Freedom From The Known, the album recorded over the Summer by Steve Albini.

With December 21st, 2012 now confirmed as the street date for Freedom From The Known, THINNING THE HERD’s psychedelic self-released video for the opening track from the album, “Never Wanted,” brings some fun and shame and good old fashioned filth back to rock without a dribble of pretentiousness. Stated stoner/rock/metal portal The Obelisk about the new visual depiction of the track: “Some videos just have it all, man. Drug innuendo, psychedelic booty dancing, a swirling drummer, tripped out ’90s-type digital effects, Orange stacks, the Buddha. The list goes on.”

As with all previous releases from THINNING THE HERD, Freedom From The Known will be set loose on the band’s own Saint Marks Records.

CIRCLE II CIRCLE Join The Armoury Records Roster; New Album To See Release This Winter

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

Armoury Records, in conjunction with Hamburg, Germany-based earMUSIC, will release the sixth studio album from American metallers CIRCLE II CIRCLE this Winter. Led by former Savatage vocaist Zak Stevens, the 12-track Seasons Will Fall promises to be the band’s strongest album to date both musically and sonically blending Stevens’ history and unique “Savatage style” with the fresh sounds he’s meticulously developed with CIIC — a commanding fusion of metal and hard rock, powered by his passionate melodic rock vocals. From the howling guitar riffs of “Diamond Blade” and “Killing Death” to the energetic sound of “Never Gonna Stop,” the album contains everything you want from a heavy rock album.

earMUSIC/Edel and Zak Stevens have enjoyed critical acclaim and commercial success together over the years with Savatage’s Dead Winter Dead (1995) and The Wake of Magellan (1997), true milestones of hard rock/heavy metal and some of the highest charting metal success stories of the ‘90s.

Comments Stevens of the new label home and forthcoming full-length: “With earMUSIC releasing our sixth album, we are exactly where we need to be at this point in our career. We have the right album along with a fantastic new label. The timing of all this will take the upcoming world tour to an entirely new level. We are very much looking forward to the release of Seasons Will Fall. This is an album that will strongly define the identity and place of hard rock and heavy metal music in the world today.”

Formed in 2001, CIRCLE II CIRCLE has released five albums to date consistently progressing into something more powerful with each offering without sacrificing the signature sound fans around the globe have grown to adore. The turning point for CIIC came in 2012 with their monumental performance of The Wake of Magellan in its entirety at Germany’s legendary Wacken Open Air Festival. What followed was a sold-out European club tour with full European jaunt set to follow in 2013.

Seasons Will Fall will be released in North America via Armoury Records on January 29, 2013. Stay tuned for further details.
