SPIRIT ADRIFT kicks off The Divided By Darkness Spring Tour this Saturday, May 18th in their hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, with five full weeks of touring in store for fans across the continent. Set to hit dozens of cities across the US and Canada, the tour coming to a halt in Ft. Worth, Texas on June 22nd.

The first several West Coast US shows will see support provided by Haunt, two West Coast Canadian shows will see SPIRIT ADRIFT paired with Dopethrone – including a set at Modified Ghost Festival IV in Vancouver on May 25th with the likes of High On Fire, Toxic Holocaust, Doomriders, and more – and the final eleven East and Southeast Coast US shows will see High Command providing support.

The tour begins just a week after SPIRIT ADRIFT‘s acclaimed Divided By Darkness LP saw release worldwide through 20 Buck Spin. The follow-up to their acclaimed Curse Of Conception, which was ranked the #2 best of 2017 by Decibel Magazine, has been praised by fans and critics abroad in recent weeks, with incredible reactions from the media setting it up to be one of the most lauded albums of the year.

Divided By Darkness was recorded, engineered, and mixed by Sanford Parker (Darkthrone, Eyehategod, Tombs) with the drums recorded at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio Studio, and the cover art commissioned to Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Magic Circle, Autopsy). The LP sees Nathan Garrett handling all lead and harmony vocals, guitar, and bass, with drums handled by Marcus Bryant, and features synth and Wurlitzer by Preston Bryant and choral vocals on “Living Light” by Kayla Dixon. On stage, SPIRIT ADRIFT‘s lineup is comprised of Nathan Garrett on vocals and guitar, Marcus Bryant on drums, Chase Mason on bass, and Jeff Owens on guitar.

“Two of Darkness’ biggest touchstones are Metallica’s Black Album and Ozzy Osbourne’s No More Tears, transitional records, both from 1991, that ultimately ended up massive commercial successes… Darkness is old school, though not chained to one institution, more accessible but not commercial, deeper but not more complicated, a lunge forward without compromise. 8.1/10” – Pitchfork

“Their desert-blossom psychedelia has withered after dusk, and their new songs feel like they were written in lunar light instead of under the sun’s gaze… It’s time to retire the lazy doom tags; this is Heavy Metal that demands and ears the capitalization. 9/10” – Decibel Magazine

“Ultimately, the pressure makes for a diamond of a record. Divided By Darkness is not only SPIRIT ADRIFT‘s greatest output, but one of the most electrifying and anthemic records of this decade. Across eight tracks, SPIRIT ADRIFT tackles the darkest areas of society today with a newly-honed and searing vocal delivery as well as a multi-layered instrumental approach featuring blistering guitar solos and vibrant, nostalgic synthesizers.” – Kerrang! Magazine

“Coming less than two years after 2017’s widely acclaimed Curse of Conception, SPIRIT ADRIFT‘s latest is a powerful, modern take on classic heavy metal replete with killer twin guitar harmonies and anthemic Eighties-style choruses.” – Revolver Magazine

“…Divided By Darkness stretches SPIRIT ADRIFT‘s wings far beyond Sabbath worship. They have songs that aim to reach Metallica heights… Divided reminds me of records like Mastodon’s Crack The Skye and Baroness’ Yellow & Green; records where ‘underground’ metal bands really swung for the fences and tried to imitate the leap Metallica had made from Kill ‘Em All to Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets.” – BrooklynVegan

“…Divided By Darkness presents an interpretation of the group’s distinct sound that is simultaneously heavier and yet more accessible than ever before. Brimming with soaring vocals, introspective lyrics, and fiery, impassioned riffs, this album is undoubtedly a major step forward for SPIRIT ADRIFT, and yet again elevate them to the forefront of the scene in the months to come.” – Invisible Oranges
