With the release of Brute Force Lobotomy, the impending new full-length from Belgian death bringers, SERIAL BUTCHER, now just one week away, today Decibel Magazine offers up the record in its mutinous entirety.
Recorded and mixed by Lander Cluyse (Hessian, Oathbreaker, Amenra etc.) at Hearse Studio and mastered by SERIAL BUTCHER guitarist Kenneth Keysers at Badass Audio Mastering, Brute Force Lobotomy spews forth ten brilliantly-formulated and expertly-executed death metal mantras in the form of poetically titled tracks like “Bowel Soup,” “Facialized By A Flamethrower,” and “Rusty Lawnmowing Massacre.” For over forty unfriendly minutes, SERIAL BUTCHER — featuring within its ranks current and former members of Aborted, Emeth, Moker, Ectopia and more — punches you in the throat rapidly and repeatedly with a punishing assortment of blistering leads, bestial hooks, blasts, grooves and guttural grotesqueries its raw, crisp production only heightening its devious aural annihilation. If you consider yourself a sincere fan of boundless, brutal death metal, you owe it to yourself to investigate this ingenious monstrosity.
Reaping mass approval from metal media outlets nationally and abroad, Dead Rhetoric relays, “Brute Force Lobotomy is a solid reminder of how solid (and listenable) brutal death metal can be. More than that, it’s a fun listen that will accomplish the band’s bloody mantra and keep the listener coming back for more. Just be prepared for the onslaught,” while No Clean Singing accurately notes, “SERIAL BUTCHER may be surgeons, but they obviously learned their surgical skills in a slaughterhouse, dishing out one flurry of vicious riffs after another, alternately jabbing and bludgeoning over a rhythm section that’s just as technically adept and just as remorseless. But what you may not be expecting is that SERIAL BUTCHER deliver their brand of brutal death metal not only with a lot of technical flair, bone-cracking groove, and gruesome gutturals, but also with a lacing of insidious melody… there’s more going on than just fracturing your cranium and scooping out the contents.”
“SERIAL BUTCHER are responsible for one of our favorite album titles of 2010, A Crash Course In Cranium Crushing,” issues Decibel in today’s post, “and the quartet is still obsessed with doing nastier shit to your brain than the NFL could ever conceive of, prepping follow-up Brute Force Lobotomy for Unique Leader next Friday. Here’s forty-two-minutes of anesthetic-free death metal to kick your weekend off right.”

SERIAL BUTCHER was spawned in 1995. Likened to a more brutal version of Cannibal Corpse, the band performed regularly throughout Belgium. Following a slew of demos, one EP, 2010’s critically-lauded A Crash Course In Cranium Crushing full-length and a variety of lineup shifts, the band eventually cultivated a dedicate following within the bowels of a dedicated death metal underground. In 2013, SERIAL BUTCHER was selected to take part of a worldwide art project called A Box-Sized Die created by Portuguese artist, Joao Onofre. The band was asked to perform in a fully sound and oxygen proof box measuring 5 feet and 10.87 inches at all sides and managed to do so for nearly twenty-five minutes. The audience could not see or hear the band but only capture vibrations coming of the cube. The event took place at the Center For Contemporary Art in Aalst, Belgium, was broadcast on regional TV and reaped the band commercial airplay on Studio Brussel with a live interview.
And now comes Brute Force Lobotomy, the band’s epitome of pure sonic sickness. Brute Force Lobotomy will be released on CD and digital formats on September 18th, 2015 via Unique Leader Records. Preorder your copy today at THIS LOCATION.
