Metal Injection is currently streaming Pressure, the latest full-length from progressive sludge metal duo, RADIANT KNIFE, in its entirety. The premiere comes on the eve of the record’s official unveiling, Friday, July 14th.

Emerging from the swamp-ridden landscape of South Louisiana, RADIANT KNIFE features Greg Travasos on drums and Stephen Sheppert at the helm of guitar, synths, and vocals. Principally inspired by artists like Today Is The Day, Zeni Geva, Loincloth, Yes, and King Crimson, together, the pair manifests a heavy sonic landscape rife with unorthodox time signatures, grizzly guitar tones, and layered, sci-fi influenced synth textures.

Of Pressure, Metal Injection lauds RADIANT KNIFE’s “synthy, doomy, experimental” sound.

Elaborates the band, “This album is really a distillation of our sound, refining all the elements that we’ve explored on past releases into a purified form of RADIANT KNIFE. With our previous record, The Ghost, being a slight departure, Pressure brings us back home to the pummeling odd timed riffs, floating synths and experimental compositions that make us who we are. Pressure IS our sound (at least until the next record).”

Stream RADIANT KNIFE’s Pressure, exclusively at Metal Injection, at THIS LOCATION.

Watch the band’s previously released video for “His Capa Was Detated” at THIS LOCATION.

Pressure was self-recorded in early 2022 at the band’s home studio, Starless Sound, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Obituary, Sunn O))) -16-).

Pressure will be released on CD, LP, and digital formats. Find preorders at the RADIANT KNIFE Bandcamp page HERE.

RADIANT KNIFE’s critically adored The Ghost EP — the second in a two-part EP series released in 2020 — rose from post metal roots with ethereal vibes that embraced space. Wrote Invisible Oranges of the output, “The Ghost is more Jar Of Flies than Dirt in its sparse but meticulous layering and clean delineation. RADIANT KNIFE has carved themselves a nice, idiosyncratic corner in the metal spectrum, and are quickly becoming masters of their domain.”

Pressure, in contrast, is an all-out assault by riff, replete with pummeling time changes, synth laden soundscapes, burly guitar tones, and metal focused production. With meandering passages that cast both darkness and light, the band’s latest work will raise the hair on your neck only to immediately singe it off.

“…mind numbing…” – Decibel Magazine

“…a genuinely diverse and engaging piece of work…” – The Sleeping Shaman

“…a face-clawing riff ‘n’ rhythm record…” — Grizzly Butts

“With thrilling production values, Pressure not only allows RADIANT KNIFE to deliver their strongest album to date but one that will allow the band to make themselves more wildly known within the whole underground metal scene. This is an absolute BEAST of an album and another AOTY contender.” – Outlaws Of The Sun

“…Pressure rips along with a zealous thirst for speed and creative heaviness that feels rooted in the less-structured chaos of the genre that thrived right around the turn of the century. RADIANT KNIFE are looking even farther back than that, though; citing bands like King Crimson and Yes as crucial inspirations, unusual time signatures and rhythms are integral to Pressure. If you peel back some of the distortion and sonic chaos, there’s definitely prog rock roots here, but simply absorbing the crushing, twisting mix as-is works extremely well, too.” — Invisible Oranges
