MUSK OX: Canadian Neofolk Ensemble Launches New Website; Woodfall Continues To Reap Critical Acclaim + Band To Share Stage With Agalloch In Montreal And Ottawa

Canadian neofolk ensemble, MUSK OX, are pleased to bring fans their new online home, located at THIS LOCATION. The site launch comes in celebration of their recently release full-length, Woodfall, a one-hour, five-part progressive chamber folk epic for classical guitar, cello, and violin.

Nearly six years in the making, Woodfall continues to astound listeners with its meticulously composed union of traditional acoustic neofolkian textures, progressive rock intricacies, post rock expansiveness and dark metal emotion. The Onion’s A.V. Club lauds Woodfall for its “elegant, chamber-folk air that manages to be earthy and ethereal at the same time.” Pitchfork notes, “Whatever it may lack in heavy metal thunder or ravishing grimness, MUSK OX more than makes up for with its richness in atmosphere and emotion, created in tune with the natural world and its terrifying beauty,” while Aural Delights dubs the release, “reflective, calming, and measured. A delightful listening experience.” Elsewhere, Echoes And Dust calls Woodfall, “a beautifully sculpted instrumental classical folk album…nothing short of epic,” opines, “The five separate impressions of Woodfall takes us full circle, from pastoral morning to beautiful night and back again,” while proclaims “Woodfall is a truly beautiful testament to the capabilities of the members involved… Between passionate and epic verses to genuine tear jerking movements, MUSK OX manages to accomplish quite a lot over the course of an hour and seven minutes.”

Woodfall is currently streaming in full at the official MUSK OX BandCamp page at THIS LOCATION.

The trio will bring their sonic tapestries to the stage next week opening for eclectic dark metal conjurors Agalloch in Montreal and Ottawa with additional concerts to be announced in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Larochette offered three interlude contributions to Agalloch’s latest full-length release The Serpent & The Sphere, out now via Profound Lore.
