GRIDFAILURE: Nine Circles Debuts Video For “It Feeds On Negative Energy” + Outfit Books First Live Performances

New York hostile alchemist GRIDFAILURE has released a new video from the recently-released Irritum album through a premiere at Nine Circles. The new video lands as GRIDFAILURE announces the project’s first live performances with Zud this spring, while several other new recordings enter their final stages.

Released on GRIDFAILURE‘s second anniversary in February, Irritum delivers an inexorable sense of hopelessness and an impenetrable veil of bleak, ominous, dystopian paranoia through thirteen new tracks totaling fifty-two minutes of torment surging with confrontational vocal torrents and unclassifiable dirges. Irritum was solely performed and recorded by the outfit’s creator David Brenner, who also created the album’s artwork and videos, the newest of which, “It Feeds On Negative Energy,” has been released.

Nine Circles offers, “As you can both hear and see, GRIDFAILURE does a fantastic job of creating horrific atmospheres full of, as previously mentioned, dread and paranoia. The panic inducing splatter shot scenes of woods, sky and dark images set to a jagged noise-drone complete with guttural moans is a truly terrifying package but also one that digs deep into the nether regions of the brain and forces the listener to surrender all control. And that’s been the point of GRIDFAILURE from the start but here, and on the entirety of Irritum, it all comes together as a tremendously cohesive yet strangely soothing package. Call me crazy but it hits a sweet spot.”

GRIDFAILURE has booked its first live performances, playing May 2nd in Montclair, New Jersey and May 4th in Providence, Rhode Island, supporting Zud on two shows of their The Springtime In The Abyss Tour. Joining creator David Brenner will be fellow henchpersons Benjamin Levitt (Megalophobe) and Richard Muller (Vise Massacre, The Third Kind, Future Hunter), with additional live collaborator likely. Watch for additional live actions to be confirmed into the summer months.
