Denton, Texas-based death metal practitioners CREEPING DEATH today unveil the harrowing video accompaniment to “Ripping Through Flesh.” The brutal hymn comes by way of the band’s anticipated Wretched Illusions debut, set for worldwide release via Entertainment One (“eOne”) on September 27th.

Offers Kerrang! of the vicious clip, “One thing can be said about CREEPING DEATH: they’re committed to their name… on the material from their upcoming new album Wretched Illusions, the band are exploring a moldier, more clammy-to-the-touch sound that oozes and lumbers as much as it rips… The video for the band’s latest track, ‘Ripping Through Flesh,’ is a visual illustration of that fungal growth. The video definitely has a narrative of bloodlust and escape that runs throughout it, complete with a machete-wielding psychopath. But more than that, it’s the cave that surrounds the band during the performance shots – complete with dripping rock formations and pitch-black crevices a every turn – that truly grips the viewer and drives home the band’s newfound aural grossness.”

Adds guitarist Trey Pemberton, “We knew we wanted ‘Ripping Through Flesh’ to be the lead track on the new album right after we finished writing it. We really liked how it hits hard from the jump and doesn’t let up. Filming the video in those beautiful caves was a one of a kind experience; we had a lot of fun bringing Reese’s lyrics to life.”

CREEPING DEATH‘s Wretched Illusions is a confident missive of percussive bombast. At once fast, challenging, decisive, and devouring, the band draws liberally from the template set by influential death metal titans like Grave, Gorguts, and Blood Red Throne along with the speed of early Sepultura and the epic crush of Bolt Thrower. It’s all re-fused together and reflected through their own fresh and unique prism, making the record one of the most scathingly heavy outputs of the year. Produced by Daniel Schmuck (Power Trip, Messengers, End Times) and mixed and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Ghostmane, Cavalera Conspiracy, Outer Heaven), Wretched Illusions will be released on CD, digital, and vinyl formats.

“…a quality banger that reflects the band’s influences (Grave, Bolt Thrower, and early Sepultura) as it seamlessly blends elements of black and thrash metal into a decidedly death-metal structure – giving CREEPING DEATH a solid edge in the new wave of OSDM bands to crop up over the past few years.” – Revolver on “Bloodlust Contamination”

CREEPING DEATH toe the line between death metal and thrash with flashes of hardcore, reminiscent of a time before these labels were slapped on brutish, ugly sounds and they were more or less one in the same.” – Loudwire

‘Bloodlust Contamination,’ the lead single off the upcoming album, finds them orbiting somewhere between hardcore, thrash, and death metal, never really fitting neatly into any of the three, and certainly not fitting into ‘metalcore’… It doesn’t really matter what genre you call them though; if you like furious, headbang-worthy music of any kind, you’re gonna wanna hear this LP when it drops.” BrooklynVegan

“Wretched Illusions brings to mind a corrosive blend of vintage Entombed and Death/Obituary, with plenty of crude chug and groove, flame-throwing vocals and a raw, insistently dirty sound. The production is thick, gravely and cavernous, with the instruments coming across as a collective buzz-saw topped by Reese Alavi’s guttural rasp.” – Metal-Rules

“…the band is such a ferocious unit that their guttural churn pretty much sells itself. They go straight for the jugular and never relent, a song like ‘Bloodlust Contamination’ roaring with raw, meaty riffs and beats that feel like being pelted in the ribcage with heavy, smoothed stones.” – Treble Best Metal Tracks Of August 2019
