PTAHIL: Full Album Stream Available Via Cvlt Nation

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

For His Satanic Majesty’s Glory, the latest full-length from Indiana black metal duo PTAHIL is currently streaming in it’s gruesome entirety via the all-ruling folks at Cvlt Nation. For His Satanic Majesty’s Glory is a transmigration through chaotic boundaries never before unveiled and an imposing assault of Satanic doom/punk/black metal on the senses, composed and recorded in complete adversarial ritual. The record was released to North American hordes on November 14, 2011 and will make its way to Europe on January 16, 2012 via Wraith Productions.

Commented multi instrumentalist Mhaghnuis of the stream: “PTAHIL channels the chaotic & antagonistic forces swirling like a storm in today’s times of civil unrest. HAIL THE CHAOTIC FORCE OF REVOLUTION!”

Check out the album HERE.

Words from the converted:

These two creatures of the dark universe have conjured up nine songs that will sting you like the lash of the whip of your underworld master.” — Cvlt Nation

PTAHIL appreciate how to disturb the listener to good effect.” — Alternative Matter

“…be prepared for a violently blissful ascension toward their goal of annihilation.” — Forbidden

“Lightly melodic black metal which from time to time is reminiscent of Watain…The more you listen to the album the more captivating and stronger it becomes… PTAHIL is a band to keep an eye on.” — Lords of Metal

“…if you like your metal dirty, with a punk attitude and aesthetic that often shifts into more traditional metal leanings, and are gung-ho for some “hail satan!” shenanigans, then this record is probably going to satisfy you…” — Music Emissions

BLUT AUS NORD: New Album Streaming In Its Entirety Via Pitchfork

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Beginning today, high traffic music portal Pitchfork.com is streaming, 777 – The Desanctification, the upcoming new full-length from eclectic black metal legion, BLUT AUS NORD. Set for release in North America via Debemur Morti Productions on November 29, 2011, The Desanctification is the second chapter in BLUT AUS NORD’s 777 trilogy and moves deeper into a nightmare realm of reality.

Check out the stream at THIS LOCATION.

777 – The Desanctification illustrates the precise moment when man finds himself embraced in frightening, almost unbearable solitude in a deconstructed world void of all material and spiritual elements. The record captures the shocking aftermath of mankind’s liberation from the constraints of culture, history and superstition; he is freed of idols but now stands alone in a massive, empty universe. Devoid of emotion, without purpose or reason. It’s a terrifying place to be, yet, as modern man, we all reside here. With political, religious and philosophical power negated – and time (our great companion) annihilated – the celestial being is stripped bare, reality altered amid irreversible illumination. Unmistakably BLUT AUS NORD, 777 – The Desanctification is typically swarming, manic and cascading but also more ambient and atmospheric than 777 – Sect(s). With speed and violence eschewed in favor of morose moods and unsettling soundscapes, this journey is meditative, trancelike and intriguing.

Originating in 1994 from the ashes of Vlad (who released two demos), BLUT AUS NORD are undisputable French black metal pioneers, always managing to progress and move forward, evolving in perpetual mutation, developing their own vision of black metal. Choosing, from the start, the total opposite path of regressive bands (who copy what others have done ten years earlier and ten times better), BLUT AUS NORD eschews all the inherent clichés belonging to the genre. BLUT AUS NORD’s approach is a fist in the face of mainstream mediocrity, becoming more macabre and sinister through a blend of innovative musical research, subliminal mental manipulation, and an incredible haunted, nightmarish feeling based on disharmony. BLUT AUS NORD are creators of a hallucinogenic universe, erasing all preconceived ideas of black metal – and extreme music in general. They redefine the rules…

EXHUMED: Legendary Goregrinders Issue Tour Update

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Goregrind henchmen EXHUMED are currently pulverizing the masses on the second leg of their North American tour with Goatwhore and Havok.

Commented vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey from the road: “We’re really chuffed to by how the second leg of our Back From The Dead And Ready To Party tour has been going. The shows have been a shitload of fun and we’re having a great time raging with the boys in Goatwhore and Havok. So if you’re anywhere near our path of destruction, dysfunction and debauchery, come out and get your sense splattered.”

The latest output from EXHUMED,  All Guts, No Glory, marks the band’s first new record in almost eight years and offers up 11 choice cuts of grinding death metal combined the raw, blisering ferocity of their legendary Slaughtercult album with the wild ambition of 2003’s Anatomy Is Destiny. As crimson concertos such as “Dis-assembly Line,” “As Hammer To Anvil,” and “Funereality” illustrate, All Guts, No Glory is EXHUMED’s finest moment to date.

“Everything seems more fluid and powerful, though as vicious as it all is, the focus remains on the composition and how it smacks the listener between the eyes.” — Decibel

“… fans of dripping blood, gaping autopsies, and ravenous zombies will absolutely adore this record.” — Revolver

EXHUMED are back, hungry, vicious, and unrelenting.” — Metal Underground

“There was little doubt that the return of EXHUMED would send the initiated and faithful into an absolute frenzy. The band’s pedigree and legacy are enough that longtime fans would swarm to this like flies to a corpse. What few probably expected is this album’s ability to sink into the ears of those who got into extreme music after the turn of the century….My only real bitch about All Guts, No Glory is that it blew the speakers in my truck. Worth it.” — Blabbermouth

“Guitarist Matt Harvey is the star here, but it takes a total group effort to create and maintain such a level of aggression and control. All Guts, No Glory is not only EXHUMED’s finest moment, but probably the best metal record of the year.” — Music Emissions

“I suppose we can consider EXHUMED the ultimate melting pot of extreme metal; thereby enticing us to enjoy its spewing as the music into which it allows itself to ferment – grotesque, fast, and loud!” — The Examiner

CHTHONIC To Perform At Sing-Ling Temple Outdoor Concert This Weekend

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Video Contest Winners Posted

CHTHONIC’s latest album, Takasago Army, has triggered a wave of Taiwanese-learning among fans around the world. So much so, the band recently hosted an online “singing video contest” where fans were asked to submit videos of themselves singing the chorus to “Takao.” The two best submissions — judged on talent, creativity, etc. — would win round trip airfare and tickets to Taiwan to take part in the Sing-Ling Temple outdoor concert this Saturday, October 22, 2011 where more than a thousand people from around the country are expected to gather. Sing-Ling Temple is an ancient battlefield and a historical landmark of Puli town and the most essential scene in CHTHONIC’s trilogy story.

Nearly one-hundred fans from around the globe sent their entries almost immediately! “I was shocked to find some foreign fans singing with better Taiwanese than I do,” said band leader and bassist Doris Yeh. Fans were creative in their attempts to win the tickets. One fan incorporated animation into the video, one did a skit and another did the song with traditional Polish instruments.

In the end, one fan from Germany and one in Japan won the tickets. Said the band in their final vote: “The German fan won the ticket both for her singing skill and good pronunciation of the lyrics in Taiwanese; while the girl from Japan won the ticket for her talented animation work. Both are very excited about winning!”

“This should certainly challenge all competition for metal album of the year.” — Popdose

”CHTHONIC have made metal that’s traditional in so many ways, but finally provides a breath of fresh air from your normal death metal stomp-fest.” — Revolver

“CHTHONIC’s distinctive style is fascinating. They have found a way to draw the audience into their world, the soundtrack to which is a sound unequaled.” — Blistering

“Infusing ethnic elements into metal is a recurring sound in the global scene, yet Chthonic cross boundaries with their Zen-like heaviness…” — Exclaim

“CHTHONIC have undoubtedly raised their level of musicianship with this release, and it comes as highly recommended from me to any heavy metal fan.” — Metal Assault

Warehouse Find:   Give Praise Records came across a warehouse find – and we are now distributing it to the masses!

HEWHOCORRUPTS / FKS – Split 7″

HEWHOCORRUPTS play fast grindcore with a strong stockmarket influence and feature members of Kungfu Rick. FKS play very heavy hardcore with an Iron Maiden influence.
“A split 7” from a couple of Illinois grindcore/crust/noise/punk bands. Christ, I didn’t know bands like this even considered the 7” as a viable format. I got to say thank god they do ‘cuz this slab o’ wax hit me like the proverbial ton of bricks (back side of the head, never saw it coming) and twisted my zine reviewin’ realm all upside down and inside and out. I reckon these lads have some Arab on Radar records in the house and know what words like HydraHead and Relapse mean in the grand scope of mindfuck rock’n’roll. I’ve got to wipe that drool off my lip now as I ponder the age-old question: Should I have played that at 33 rpms or 45 rpms? Like a Butthole Surfers record, it worked both ways. ” – Razorcake

EARTHRIDE: Maryland Biker Doom Masters To Play Stoner Hands of Doom 12 This Weekend

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Long running Maryland biker doom masters, EARTHRIDE,  will be performing at the legendary Stoner Hands of Doom 12 Festival in Frederick, Maryland on August 13th, 2011. This is the third time the band will be playing the fest f and the first with new bassist Josh Hart (ex Unorthodox and Revelation). Said vocalist Dave Sherman, “We played  SHoD in 1999 when Earthride first formed and it was great; it was actually  the pre-SHoD festival, and it was held in downtown DC. Some of the same bands that played that first year, like Las Cruces, will be playing again, and I think this time around will be one of the most brutal SHoDs ever. If you want to see some of the best bands this genre has to offer, don’t miss it!”

For more info, point your browser HERE.

Last year, EARTHRIDE released their Something Wicked full-length. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Chris Kozlowski (Blue Cheer, Pentagram, Melvins, Trouble et al) at the Polar Bear Lair, the record features a guest appearances by Scott “Wino” Weinrich (Saint Vitus, Shrinebuilder, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan) on the track “Supernatural Illusion,” as well as actual X-rays and MRIs from various injuries sustained by the members of EARTHRIDE over the years throughout the layout. Something Wicked is available via the band’s own Earth Brain Records.
