….get ready Los Angeles…
This weekend, founding Neurosis guitarist/vocalist SCOTT KELLY will take to the road for a four-show California tour in support of his recently released third solo album, The Forgiven Ghost In Me. For the first time, KELLY will be joined on these shows by cohorts Noah Landis and Greg Dale as SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME, bringing his dark Americana to fruition on stage in a whole new way, as they did on the new album.
The action begins this Saturday in San Francisco and play through Oakland, Fullerton and Los Angeles, with opening support from YOB frontman Mike Scheidt.
SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME live performances:
9/29/2012 Hemlock Tavern – San Francisco, CA Hemlock Tavern w/ Mike Scheidt
9/30/2012 Uptown Nightclub – Oakland, CA w/ Mike Scheidt
10/01/2012 The Slidebar – Fullerton, CA w/ Mike Scheidt
10/02/2012 Cineplex at the Silent Movie Theater – Los Angeles, CA w/ Mike Scheidt
Dissimilar to his previous solo outings, on The Forgiven Ghost In Me KELLY sought out additional musicians to help create his vision for this release, recruiting good friends Noah Landis (Neurosis) and Greg Dale, forming SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME. Additionally, Jason Roeder (Neurosis, Sleep) and Josh Graham (A Storm Of Light, Neurosis) make guest appearances on the album. These additional instrumental and vocal contributions add incredible new dimensions to KELLY’s foreboding tales. The eight tracks were recorded by Landis, the album running deep with over forty minutes of foreboding Americana showcasing the ever-evolving artist brandishing some of his most expressive hymns of pain, reflection and redemption to date
Following its dominant European release this week, Denmark’s leading death metal merchants ILLDISPOSED will disburse their newest album Sense The Darkness into the North American population on October 16th via Massacre Records.

Chicago-based mob DOOMSDAY have completed their debut album and plan to disburse the filth to the public on the band’s own label this Fall, in conjunction with a throng of tour dates across the Midwest and Eastern U.S.
DOOMSDAY’s obviously apocalyptic vision has been several years in the making conceptually. An idea birthed between guitarist Jeff Wilson (Wolvhammer, Chrome Waves, ex-Nachtmystium), guitarist/vocalist Jon Necromancer (Bones, ex-Usurper, ex-Nachtmystium) and drummer Zack Simmons (Goatwhore, ex-Nachtmystium), the trio recruited vocalist Zion Meagher (Anti-Human Thesis, ex-Forest Of Impaled, ex-Nachtmystium) and bassist Bob Fouts (The Gates of Slumber, Chrome Waves, Apostle Of Solitude) to round out the lineup.
After months of writing and planning, their individual schedules finally allowed the five members of DOOMSDAY to amalgamate in the studio to create their debut offering. Converging in their hometown the crew hammered out six tracks in six days in December 2011, the brutally direct hymns engineered by Sanford Parker (Nachtmystium, Twilight, Circle of Animals) and Carl Byers (Coffinworm). The result: a twenty-one minute low-end blackened death-crust assault compiled as the outfit’s self-titled debut, now set for release on guitarist Jeff Wilson’s newly founded Disorder Recordings on November 6th.
Directly preceding the official release date in November, DOOMSDAY will assault the Midwest and Northeast U.S. on a nine-date run sponsored by BrooklynVegan, alongside cohorts Krieg and Wolvhammer, where Doomsday will be available directly from the band for the first time.

Southern California killers NAILS will enter the studio this Winter to record their new full-length, but preceding that have a more imminent campaign of carnage in place, as the band will first release a new 7” and tour with Converge.
Following their self-released split 7” with Skin Like Iron that blazed the masses in January, California-based NAILS will drop a new 7” via Southern Lord, who picked up the band’s highly praised 2010 LP Unsilent Death. The upcoming Obscene Humanity 7” reanimates three of the most iconic tracks from the bands’ raging debut 12” of the same name – “Confront Them,” “Lies” and the title track — re-recorded during the Unsilent Death sessions with their more modern, metallic, pulverizing low-end tonal attack.
Obscene Humanity will be released at the end of October amidst NAILS’ six-date West Coast tour supporting Converge alongside Torche and Kvelertak. This will be the first time the band have played any of these cities since being joined by new guitarist Saba, the trio now becoming a quartet, and bringing NAILS’ already demoralizing riffage to an even more defeating level.
To round out the year, NAILS will enter the caverns of Godcity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts with Converge’s Kurt Ballou from late December into early January, recording their anticipated next full-length. The new album, Abandon All Life, will be finished early in the year for a Spring release on Southern Lord, with much more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Today Decibel Magazine hosts the exclusive premiere of “Global Systemic Collapse” from Eugenics, the upcoming new long-player from New York technical death/grind squad MALIGNANCY. Comments vocalist Danny Nelson of the track: “This is by far my favorite song on the record. Total groove from start to finish with that brutal, tech twist you have come to expect from us! Enjoy and stay malignant.”
Scheduled to detonate in North America on October 9, 2012 through Willowtip Records, Eugenics is already reaping critical accolades. Said Stereokiller in a 4.5/5 review of the sonic slaughterfest: “The band steamrolls along as if it could fall off the tracks at any given moment, but they do so with a precision so exact, it’s sickening. It’s like a controlled chaos,” adds Metal Observer in a 9/10 rating, “This latest record finds the band unleashing its most potent and devastating album yet, mixing modern brutality with an old-school twist that hears the band pushing its technical limits while adhering to interesting, progressive structures. Eugenics comes out swinging, never tires, and winds up setting the latest benchmark in brutal American death metal.”
Coinciding with the release, MALIGNANCY will bring their sonic extremity to the stage with several upcoming live shows including an appearance at the fourth annual New Jersey Deathfest alongside Phobia, Deceased, Waco Jesus, Ghoul and others as well as the 1st Annual Delaware Deathfest with Internal Bleeding, Dehumanized, Sapremia, Insatanity and more.
In December, the band will join the second leg of “The Blood Of Power Tour” with headliners Dying Fetus, which will run from Denver, Colorado through to Trenton, New Jersey. Additional support will be provided by Cerebral Bore.
Says Nelson of the oncoming adventure: “MALIGNANCY is proud to share the stage with Dying Fetus and Cerebral Bore on the last leg of this tour! Come out and support the brutality.”

Next month, longstanding grindcore merchants PHOBIA will unite with powerviolence miscreants STRONG INTENTION and thrash-infested d-beat cretins D.I.S. for the most confrontational, ear-lacerating tour of 2012! Scheduled to commence on October 12 in Chicago, the furious caravan will systematically level eight cities including an appearance on the fourth annual New Jersey Deathfest alongside Malignancy, Deceased, Waco Jesus, Ghoul and more.
“It’s time to annihilate the Mid West to the East once again! Grind your fucking heads in,” boasts PHOBIA vocalist Shane Mclachlan. Notes STRONG INTENTION founding frontman Zac Ohler “Once again we shall turn up the grind to 11 as we join PHOBIA and D.I.S. on the road for another round of complete distortion and filth……no one is safe!” Adds D.I.S. guitarist Bruce Reeves: “This should be an amazing run of shows! D.I.S. is really looking forward to pummeling the East with our grinding brothers (and sister) in PHOBIA as well as STRONG INTENTION. I have a lot of history with PHOBIA so it will be great to share the stage with them every night and fun to get back in the van with those stench grinding maniacs!”

PHOBIA unleashed total auditory hell with their Remnants Of Filth full-length through Willowtip Records in June. Remnants of Filth easily stands as one of the most furious releases in the band’s iconic discography. Produced and mixed by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed) the record offers eighteen socio-political grind hymns in about as many minutes and continues to earn critical hails from fans and critics nationally. Commends MetalSucks: “PHOBIA have grindcore down, playing on the element of chaos that exists between punk and metal and volleying with ease between the two, sounding equally comfortable churning chords over d-beats and acting like machines of war over blasts.”
STRONG INTENTION released their Razorblade Express 7” EP via PATAC Records in June which has successful devoured souls across the lands with its unapologetic heaviness. Razorblade Express features bass work by Cattle Decapitation’s Derek Engemann, a killer guest appearance by Eyehategod frontman Mike IX Williams on the title track and “3rd Space Gorilla Generator” and is limited to just 500 copies. Opined Decibel of the release: “Lurching sludge with Black Flag riff-o-rama, thick heavy evilosity that grinds like a mortar and pestle…”
D.I.S. (Destroyed In Seconds), are set to unleash their new full-length this Fall via Deep Six Records November 1st. Fittingly titled Becoming Wrath, the offering was recorded and mixed mid 2012 at Architeuthis Sound in North Hollywood by the band’s own Sean Vahle and features nine tracks of malicious thrash-tinged d-beatdowns that capture D.I.S. at their most ferocious.
Ruthless grindcore faction PRIMATE have been confirmed to support High on Fire on their newly announced North American tour later this Fall. Bringing their raging brew of old-school hardcore-influenced speed-grind disorder to the masses, PRIMATE will be infiltrating the lineup on seven East Coast dates of the massive tour alongside Goatwhore and LoPan.
PRIMATE East Coast Tour Dates w/ High On Fire, Goatwhore, LoPan:
11/23/2012 Rock and Roll Hotel – Washington, DC
11/24/2012 The Sinclair – Cambridge, MA
11/26/2012 Opera House – Toronto, ON
11/27/2012 La Tulipe – Montreal, QC

11/29/2012 Union Transfer – Philadelphia, PA
11/30/2012 Bowery Ballroom – New York, NY
12/01/2012 Music Hall of Williamsburg – Brooklyn, NY
Containing henchmen Kevin Sharp, Dave Whitworth, Shayne Huff, Bill Kelliher and Mike Brennan, the Atlanta-based quintet unify their individual talents reminiscent of their other primary acts in PRIMATE, but take it back to the early days of punk and hardcore when unharnessed energy and devastating speed was the only way to live. Relapse Records officially issued the band’s debut album Draw Back A Stump in July, following the extremely limited self-released CD version last year. Relapse’s re-release bears three additional tracks not found on the initial version, the entire platter fully remixed and remastered with updated artwork and unleashed on CD, LP and digital delivery.
“…an album that could line up well on the skate ramp boombox along with Minor Threat, Government Issue and Millions Of Dead Cops… If you like punk and grind, this album is pretty much mandatory. Did you really expect something involving members of both Brutal Truth and Mastodon to suck?” – Decibel
“…it’s just so simple, unpretentious and bludgeoning, it’s almost hard to believe a band this straightforward manages to still sound pretty fresh. 9/10″ – Metal Storm
“…these veteran players deliver a scorching new effort, chock full of blazing punk-rock-flavored, d-beat-induced grindcore that is fresh and exciting while giving nod to the glory days.” – Blow The Scene
“…a hardcore record that is distinctly traditional, while still making occasional nods at all manner of more recent advancements… 4/5″ – Heavy Blog Is Heavy
Today esteemed music portal, Pitchfork, unveils the first single from I Begin, the long-awaited new full-length from Norwegian black metal legion, GOD SEED. Entitled “This From The Past,” the second track from the record burns deep with unhinged viciousness and infernal majesty.
I Begin is scheduled for North American release on October 22nd (October 26th in Norway and October 30th worldwide). For preorder info, point your browser HERE. A vinyl version will also be available through Back On Black.
Additionally, the band will march through Europe beginning November 7th on the Creatures From The Black Abyss Tour 2012 alongside Cradle Of Filth! See confirmed dates below.
For nearly a decade, King ov Hell and Gaahl were key members of the legendary Norwegian black metal legion Gorgoroth, with whom they parted ways in 2007. When the pair decided to continue creating music together, they chose the band GOD SEED in honor of a track on the last Gorgoroth album on which they both appeared, 2006’s Ad Majorem Satanhas Gloriam.
In 2009, however, just as Gaahl was set to record vocals for the debut GOD SEED release, he abruptly announced his retirement from metal. With an album’s worth of music already recorded, King quickly regrouped and recruited Dimmu Borgir vocalist Shagrath — but instead of releasing 2010’s acclaimed The Underworld Regime under the GOD SEED moniker, King felt it more fitting to give the reconfigured group its own name: Ov Hell.
Earlier this year, though, Gaahl ended his metal hiatus, and GOD SEED was resurrected. To whet fans’ appetites, the group released a well-received live CD/DVD of their headlining performance at the 2008 Wacken Open Air festival, which became the first-ever release under the GOD SEED name. Still, fans began counting the days until the pair would unite to write and record new material together.
Finally, that day has arrived. Featuring King and Gaahl firing on all cylinders, GOD SEED’s debut studio album, I Begin, is one of the most anticipated black metal releases in recent memory. Several years in the making, it harnesses the viciousness of the musicians’ pasts while also pointing toward a hellfire-bright future ahead.
