TURIN’s The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing is out today on MNRK Heavy! At once intense and visceral, the record is an unflinching glimpse into the harsh realities of what it means to be human, mental health, the loss of faith, and struggling to let go of trauma in a desperate attempt to find oneself.

Darting between gorgeously affecting symphonic death metal, gloriously downbeat deathcore, and technically brash post-metal, TURIN has forged a sonic landscape made to be travelled through. Every step along the way poses a different danger, from the machine gun battery of “Abyssal” to the desolation of “Reflections;” the thoughtful gristle of “I Am The Truth” to the hardcore brute force of “Loss.” Every ebb and flow pushes you deeper into the abyss than the last, with the closing crescendo, “Our Reality In Nothing,” a swell of decadent strings and pulverizing riffs, serving as the most personal and prominent track the band has ever put together.

The band comments, “The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing focuses on the struggles of humanity alongside the effects of nihilism, letting go of trauma and healing in the modern world. [It’s] a combination of the bands blackened death metal roots alongside elements of melodic deathcore and cinematic nuances.”

As well as it being an acronym for TURIN, The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing is at the heart of the album’s concept for all the lyrics. Notes the band, All five of us have been in situations where we act like nothing’s wrong or bothering us and the reality of doing that is unforgiving. It harms us. It can impact those around us and often the reality of the situation doesn’t change until we speak up and look for support. In some cases, forgiveness.”

For The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing, TURIN worked with one of the UK’s finest heavy metal producers and multiple Heavy Music Awards nominee Lewis Johns (Loathe, Rolo Tomassi, Ithaca, Employed To Serve, Svalbard, Conjurer, Pupil Slicer) creating a milestone in the band’s long history in the metal scene, a pure evolution of their sound and writing ability to define a new chapter for UK deathcore.

Influenced by a diverse range of extreme music subgenres, TURIN is known for their bludgeoning live shows, earning them Kerrang’s MCN Live Award with appearances at the UK’s top festivals such as Bloodstock Open Air and Techfest plus support tours with Martyr Defiled, Decapitated, Within Destruction, Hacktavist, Ingested, SikTh, Origin, and Dragged Into Sunlight.

“While defiantly left-field and inventive, The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing is such a classy, considered rebirth for these UK diehards that it will surely garner more acclaim and support than its often chilling contents might suggest. This is a seriously bleak and bruising record with a veritable shit-ton of charisma and some laudably incisive tunes. There may be no hope, but the infinite void now seems considerably more attractive.” — Blabbermouth

“…some grade A stuff. I guess you could call it deathcore if you want, but I don’t think that gets the job done. It’s massive. That’s what it is. It simultaneously fills every inch of attainable space while taking the care and precision to really sink its hooks into you. As deep as they could possibly go.” — Nine Circles

“…a beautiful, genre-bending piece of metal, blending the deep, abstract soundscapes of post-metal with the beauty of symphonic death metal with the devastating aggression of deathcore, while still being able to express a staggering amount of emotion. For every nasty breakdown, there is a beautiful symphonic section, and every downbeat riff is accompanied by a huge dose of atmosphere.” — Moshville Times

TURIN have certainly made a statement with The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing. Each track has its own individualistic spark that ensures the album is exhilarating from front to back. This effort will undoubtedly turn a few heads with its array of abrasive intensity which is so compelling that you can’t help but dive back in for another helping.” — Distorted Sound

“…a fantastic album that surely has the power to push Turin to even greater heights. What they have created here certainly deserves attention.” — Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“…while this album can very easily be classified as deathcore, technical death metal, symphonic death metal, whatever you want to name it, and fit among some of the best in the genre(s), it just felt different. Being able to listen and focus on actual riffs, on time signature changes and tempo shifts, and the actual lyrics on such a behemoth, it felt strange to be coming from a band who I’ve never heard of (my fault). That I could understand the vocalist and the mix was such that nothing was drowned out by anything else, that’s the sign of an album well done by a band focused on making sure they release only the best they could offer.” – Metal Epidemic

“…ferocious power, bleak atmospheres and lyrics full of anguish. It’s an intense listen.” — Metal Mance

“…an incredible album title. The music fits the title perfectly. It sounds like rage at the realization that life has no meaning, nothing we do matters, and there is no justice. Everything we were told is a loving lie meant to make the world make sense. The world doesn’t make sense and Turin is expressing not only frustration but a declaration.” — Metal Digest
