Decibel Magazine is hosting an exclusive stream of Towards The Inevitable, the diverse and incinerating new album from Long Island/NYC-based occult black metal faction TELOCH VOVIN, ahead of its release this Friday.

TELOCH VOVIN’s Towards The Inevitable combines black metal with elements of traditional, death, and doom metal, as well as classical and ambient/electronic sounds. These influences intertwine with the occult practice behind TELOCH VOVIN, creating a musical sound that is raw and violent while simultaneously captivating and hypnotic. Recorded several years ago for a split release which never materialized, the songs have since been revamped and updated with crushing production capturing the band’s aggression and entrancing sound.

With the album on the verge of release, founding member Grigori proclaims, “Like the ravenous vortex on the cover, Towards the Inevitable is a malevolent, seething, dynamic maelstrom seeking to both entrance and devour the listener. The inevitable implied here is Death, but Death comes in many forms and for those with the wisdom to understand that thru Death (both ov the ego and then again later ov the flesh) and the dissolution which comes with these transformations, liberation is found. Liberation within the boundless arms ov Mother Khaos.”

With their advance stream of the monstrous album, Decibel also posted an interview with Grigori about the album, the piece reading in part, “Long Island, New York isn’t exactly where you’d expect to find an occult black metal band but that’s exactly what one can expect from TELOCH VOVIN. The band, led by guitarist/vocalist Grigori, is primarily a black metal group but dabbles frequently in death and doom metal, as well as classical and electronic music, when performing.”

Formed by guitarist/vocalist Grigori, TELOCH VOVIN is a conceptual work expressing the worship and ritual workings with the Forces of khaos, entropy, and death. Enochian in its nature, “teloch” translates as “death,” and vovin translates as “dragon,” and is a reference to Samael the dragon of death, known in his fiery, destructive aspect as Satan.

Having built a rabid regional fanbase through five self-released titles while sharing the stage with Black Witchery, Negative Plane, Grave Gnosis, Kult Ov Azazel, Mortician, Shining, Black Anvil, Behexen, Hobb’s Angel Ov Death, and many more, TELOCH VOVIN thrived through the pandemic, performing successful live streams with Blood Feast, Sickbay, and Malignancy, while releasing multiple self-produced tracks.

The drums for Towards The Inevitable were recorded/engineered by Ash at The Percussion Bunker, the bass recorded by Saturnus at The Grotto, and C.O.S.’ guitars self-recorded/engineered at Wind’s Lord Studios, Grigori’s guitars and all vocal recordings as well as the album’s mixing/mastering duties were handled by Mike Usifer (Prime Evil) – who has since joined the band – at Usifer Sound Studios and Aural Assault Studio. In addition to the band’s wide cast of members’ contributions, the record features a guest guitar solo by Sebastian Ramstedt (Necrophobic, Elfödd, In Aphelion), Hebrew language passages spoken by Avi Levi, and the four-part closing suite “Panzer Fist” is intertwined with layers of classical elements of violin, viola, and cello performed and recorded by Ben Karas at Frightbox Recording Studios, with additional classical compositions by Stephen Morris and Grigori. The record was completed with front cover artwork by Eam XI, inside artwork by Zeroth Q-ayn, photography by David Simmons and Casey Heney, and layout by The Temple Of The Headless One.
