HISSING: Noisey Streams Southern Lord-Bound EP By Seattle Death Metal Trio; New Shows With Sunn O))), Big

Noisey is now streaming the self-titled 7″ EP by Seattle-based death metal trio, HISSING, as the record is prepared for release by Southern Lord.

Dispatching a gruesome concoction of death metal with pungent blackened atmosphere and scathing sludge-dredging attributes, HISSING is comprised of bassist/vocalist Zach Wise, guitarist Joe O’Malley, and drummer Sam Pickel. The trio’s output merges the gnarled death tones of Incantation, Autopsy, and Winter, with more dissonant/angular elements of Portal, Blut Aus Nord, and others. The self-titled 7″ from the band bears the new hymns “Cairn” and “Husk,” the EP tracked by Rusty Graeff (Bone Sickness) and mixed and produced by the band, with mastering handled by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, and its cover art by Stefan Thanneur (Chaos EchÅ“s). Hissing is thematically centered around the effects of the metropolitan environment on the human psyche and explores themes of agoraphobia, urban decay, and incarceration.

HISSING will join labelmates Big|Brave and Sunn O))) on their upcoming run of tour dates through the Midwestern states in early June, having also provided support for the West Coast leg of the same tour earlier this month. The band was also added to the three-day Covenant Festival II in Vancouver, British Columbia in June, joining Auroch, Sempiternal Dusk, Wolvhammer, Taake, Drawn And Quartered, and many others.
