MARDUK have been touring the globe in support of Wormwood, their eleventh studio album released last October via Regain Records. Wormwood found its way to the top of year end lists both domestically and abroad and continues to reap praise among listeners nearly a year after its release . Decibel Magazine gave it a 9/10 review saying, “Wormwood…drives home grim nails of varying shapes and sizes – all black ones of course…repeated listens reveal deeper abysses.” Blabbermouth commended the band for, “…an atmosphere that continues to be cold and uncomfortably morose, made even more sinister by a bass tone that is not only thick and audible, but also value-additive,” while noted, “along with Mortuus’ obtuse lyrics and guttural, phlegmy vocals, MARDUK’s surprisingly crafty compositions…and deft use of effects — as opposed to rote orchestration — give them an air of sophistication and guile you don’t often find in black metal.” Added Kerrang in a review of their New York City performance last year: “…grim as fuck, they knuckle down and pound out barrage after barrage of searing, slicing black metal evil…”
