The earthmoving third LP from Texas-terrors MAMMOTH GRINDER known as Underworlds is today available to the general public, the band’s first release for 20 Buck Spin.
Underworlds marks a peak at which MAMMOTH GRINDER have sharpened and perfected their sound into a seething grind/death/thrash maelstrom of intense degree; unrelenting in its concentrated raw precision and focused power, Underworlds careens violently through ten tracks with effortless versatility and the fixated songcraft expected of a band on their third record. The band commissioned the legendary Joe Petagno (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Motörhead, Marduk) to deliver the album’s gritty cover artwork.
Amidst an avalanche of media praise surging in on the album, Pitchfork is today hosting an Advance feature where the entire album can be streamed this week. Explore the Underworlds RIGHT HERE.
The CD and digital versions of Underworlds are available now and both the standard black edition and the limited blue mailorder-only vinyl will be in-house by the end of the week. In conjunction with the release of Underworlds, later this week MAMMOTH GRINDER will take their thunder down-under on a run of Australian dates alongside Innumerable Forms. Immediately upon their stateside return they’ll tour the West Coast US including a performance at The Power Of The Riff alongside The Obsessed, Final Conflict, From Ashes Rise, Black Breath, M.D.C., Iceburn, Bastard Noise, Dead In The Dirt and more.

“…their best record yet… If you dig crust punk and old school Swedish death metal recorded in a dank cave then Underworlds is right up your alley. It isn’t reinventing any genres but when you’re at the top of your game, you don’t need to. 9/10” – Metal Injection
“Metal’s mess of subgenres grows notoriously fuzzy around the edges, and Mammoth Grinder is nothing but edges.” – Stereogum
“Underworlds’s coherence makes it the band’s most appreciable album yet, a tightly focused affair that, more than ever, embodies the essence of millions of pulverized prehistoric mammals. 4/5” – MetalSucks
“…Underworlds is a must for fans of the blurry lines between old school DM and crossover thrash, as well as any of Ulsh’s previous works including the latest Power Trip and the new Hatred Surge.” – Invisible Oranges
