Denver doom trio IN THE COMPANY OF SERPENTS will kick off a four-date mini-tour with statemates Abrams this week. The tour, which runs from November 2nd through November 5th, will make its way through Albuquerque, Phoenix, San Diego, and Los Angeles. Additionally, the band will appear on Decibel Magazine’s Metal & Beer Fest Denver on December 2nd.
Comments guitarist/vocalist Grant Netzorg, “We are excited to be hitting the road with our longtime Denver buddies in Abrams, and to get back to some of our favorite spots in the Southwest for the first time in nearly five years. Along the way, we’ll be joined by some killer bands and more old friends, including Goya — marking their return to the stage for the first time since the apocalypse — Red Mesa, Nebula Drag, Pire, and Nebula.
Shortly after we get home, we’ll also have the great privilege of playing the inaugural Denver Metal & Beer fest hosted by the mighty Decibel Magazine. Since we’ll be joining a stacked lineup that includes Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, and Dark Funeral, we will be veering towards the Acid Western, Ennio-Morricone-by-way-of-Jodorowsky end of our catalog, and will be breaking out some tunes we haven’t played live in many years. There’s no way to out-death-groove Cannibal and Immolation, so we hope to present a different end of the heavy music spectrum.”

Marking the band’s first release as a trio featuring Netzorg with Ben Pitts (Nightwraith, False Cathedrals) on bass and lap steel guitar and JP Damron (Vermin Womb, Bleakheart, Clinging To The Trees Of A Forest Fire) on drums, Lux was produced, mixed, and mastered by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Khemmis, Primitive Man) at Flatline Audio with additional engineering by Charlie Abend. Lux includes guest appearances by Colorado Chamber Players violist Paul Primus, Primitive Man guitarist/vocalist Ethan Lee McCarthy, and Khemmis guitarist/vocalist Ben Hutcherson.

Founded in 2011, IN THE COMPANY OF SERPENTS traffics in sonic catharsis. Their music inhabits the strange fringes between sludge metal and sprawling spaghetti western scores, constantly striving for visceral power and raw intensity, contrasted with eerie, spare instrumental passages.
“…the droning sludge trio have riffs for days, but it’s the thoughtful inclusion of spaghetti western music that elevates Lux to a new level.” — Decibel
“…tectonic slabs of thunderous doom and spacey drone…” – Revolver
