DRIPPING DECAY released their lethal Ripping Remains EP on Satanik Royalty Records in January. Unwilling to rest on their laurels while waiting for Festering Grotesqueries to be released, DRIPPING DECAY spent the Summer of 2023 composing Ripping Remains. The six-song concatenation of casket-crushing brutality sees the band mesh their trademark blend of Repulsion, Autopsy, and Terrorizer with facets of thrash and grindcore both new and old. The result is a fast and furious yet well-rounded listen, proving the band’s technical prowess without sacrificing mosh-worthy hooks and moments of crawling, ominous dirge.

Tracked in the familiar confines of Portland’s legendary Falcon Studios, Ripping Remains was put to tape by DRIPPING DECAY’s unofficial fifth member Derek Leisy, who also assumes mixing duties after the retirement of Festering Grotesqueries mixing engineer Vincent Detto. Leisy lends a more vicious, grind-centric edge to the proceedings, contrasting the grotesque, gut-punch production of the full-length with a sharp slice of the metal-phoric scalpel, proving himself more than worthy of the producer’s role. Mastering engineer extraordinaire Dan Lowndes, alumnus of both previous DRIPPING DECAY releases, returns to round out the recording, which also features a guest vocal appearance by August “Gurge” Ivanoff (Lord Gore) and a rightfully “ripping” cover of “Trick Or Treat,” originally penned by Detroit speed metal legends Halloween for their 1985 debut Don’t Metal With Evil.

Ripping Remains is available on all streaming services as well as CD, cassette, and vinyl in various color variants via the Satanik Royalty webshop HERE and Bandcamp HERE

“The band mesh their trademark blend of Repulsion, Autopsy, and Terrorizer with elements of thrash and grindcore, with old-school and modern influences thrown in the toxic blender.” – Decibel Magazine

“…a heavy, quick death/grind assault with some guitar solos and nice grooves. The vocals are a strong point of their sound and a nice nod to the classic death metal vocal style. Grindcore has a touch of punk influence in it and diversifies their sound even more.” – Technical Music Review

“…more puke-inducing riffs…” – Metal Injection

“Even if you really just want a little taste of putrescence, hit play on this one.” – Ghost Cult Magazine

“Ripping Remains possesses the same sort of variety and impressive, punchy musicianship as some of the band’s best work, and it’s clear that the music on here wasn’t intended for a throwaway release. It’s every bit as tight and focused as the songs that appeared on Festering Grotesqueries, with each of its six tracks feeling distinct and standing out for all the right reasons, the very definition of ‘all killer, no filler.'” – Distorted Sound Magazine
