“Experimental grind done very, very right.” – Metal Injection
Metal Injection today unveils a video for “The Clot Thickens” by extreme music abomination DEFIGUREMENT, following the recent Nefarious Industries release of the band’s debut LP, Endbryo.
Unloading a furiously unhinged amalgam of avant/progressive death/grind, DEFIGUREMENT encompasses a cast of life-long henchmen from across the metal/extreme music underground, aligning drummer Mike Heller (Malignancy, Raven, ex-Fear Factory), guitarist Kevin Fetus (Lack Of Interest, Fetus Eaters, ex-Murder Construct), bassist/noise architect DMT (Mormon Mincers, ex-Bad Acid Trip), and vocalist Matthias Joyce aka “Matti Güey” (Rottenness, To Violently Vomit, Formless Master).
DEFIGUREMENT’s debut album Endbryo arrives with sixteen tracks of sheer intensity: A unified creation born of sci-fi death metal infiltrated by hyperactive overtones of gore, grind, prog, and experimentalism. Intense, grinding blasts jacked-up on interstellar strains of both melody and scathe, ludicrous putridity bursting to shed its skin, hammering percussion with fretwork and vocals working triple-time to keep up. As uncanny, unhinged, and bizarre as it undoubtedly is, Endbryo flows seamlessly into an inimitable hybrid of extreme tech death that can only be described as pure DEFIGUREMENT.
Endbryo was recorded DIY by the band at multiple facilities, mixed by Rob Caldwell (Cannibal Corpse, Municipal Waste, Devourment), mastered by Lasse Lammert (Sigh, Kublai Khan, The Atlas Moth), with artwork by Kevin Fetus. The album is drenched in guest contributions, including Takafumi Matsubara (Gridlink, Mortalized), Makiko Suda (Flagitious Idiosyncrasy In The Dilapidation, Monnier), Brian Hopp (Cephalic Carnage), Kevin Alter (Deathwish, Invidiosus), Crawlin Lewis (King Goro, Formless Master, Invidiosus), Karl Schmidt (Gorgatron, Visceral Disgorge), Leon Del Muerte (Impaled, Terrorizer LA, ex-Exhumed, ex-Nails, ex-Intronaut), Alec Cordero (Black Hole Deity, Calcemia), Ryan Wright (Necropathy), Leonard “Lenzig” Leal (Cephalic Carnage, Neuromorphic), and Matt Olson.
DEFIGUREMENT now presents a video for “The Clot Thickens,” which showcases the band ripping through a pummeling array of death grind peaks and valleys, with a black and white music video setting the tone for the grim atmosphere.
Kevin Fetus declares, “‘The Clot Thickens’ is an aural cacophony, fueled by a tornado of riffs and a nightmare of percussion. The song should wreck and confuse the listener just as much as it draws them into the eye of the swirling vortex. In less than two minutes, you will be transported from ass to elbow. By the end of the song, if you’re not asking, ‘What the fuck was that?,’ then you’re not a true fan of experi-metal.”
Metal Injection calls the DEFIGUREMENT output, “Experimental grind done very, very right,” declaring how the band, “is here to make your day a fucking nightmare thanks to the video for their track ‘The Clot Thickens.’”

“The four conflicting and diverging, but unified and converging, minds have joined forces in the creation of their upcoming debut, a frenzied concoction of fast ’n’ furious grind and multi-hued psychedelia.” – Decibel Magazine
“DEFIGUREMENT pulls no punches on Endbryo, hewing a slab of great experimental deathgrind. Their ferocity is bruising and their vision unyielding, and it’s rare I encounter music that demands so many repeated spins. This platter is captivating, and each time I think I have Endbryo figured out, the next listen corrects that notion. So many ideas loaded into thirty minutes might seem daunting, but DEFIGUREMENT expertly balances intrigue and digestibility. Assuming Endbryo is only the beginning, I’ll wait on the edge of my seat to hear how the band’s sound develops.” – Angry Metal Guy
“Grind’s schizophrenic nature makes it usually pass through one ear and out the other for me, but these Californians throw in enough melody across these three singles that I’ll be coming back to hear the other 13. I’ve never had so much fun having my brain leak through my ears.” – Toilet Ov Hell
“This is a creation of scathing tech grind hostility, but one that is also able to conjure up the transcendent and otherworldly. Layered sounds and emotive melodies allow the band to explore moods and feelings that are rarely associated with the style, elevating the material considerably. DEFIGUREMENT have an interesting and engaging way of presenting brutality alongside melody and atmosphere in such a way that it feels seamless and natural. Endbryo is both satisfying and rewarding.” – Wonderbox Metal
“Each song is a strange idea burst onto tape in furious chunks. Just as quickly as the concept is expressed, the band is ready to hit you over the head with something else…You should expect the unexpected with this one.” – Metal Digest
“DEFIGUREMENT want to terrify the listener and invade their boundaries; they succeed. This is the type of metal you show somebody once they’ve heard the platinum-selling greats and absorbed the big four of thrash. It’ll blow their minds if they’re unfamiliar with growled vocals, inhumane screams, rapid tempos, and violent rhythms lathered in eviscerated flesh.” – Scream Blast Repeat
