CEMETERY REIGN’s Confined To Time debut is streaming in its ferocious entirety. The premiere comes in advance of the record’s official unveiling this Thursday, February 26th via Carbonized Records.
CEMETERY REIGN is a solo death metal endeavor helmed by the depressed and deteriorated mind of David McMaster, riff menace in Street Tombs and drum punisher in Superstition. Based out of the atomic desert of Northern New Mexico, the venture surfaced from the grave during the COVID-19 pandemic while the world descended into mass death madness and psychotic political instability. Being in lock down provided time for writing and recording a multitude of riff-charged songs with haunting, reverberating guitars, and devastating rhythmic assaults of drum and bass ruthlessness that have been entombed until now. Common themes of the album include war, apocalyptic devastation, suicidal depression, and psychedelic-death insanity happening above, beneath, and beyond the funeral grounds of Earth.

“‘Curse of Despair’ starts with the kind of riffing and crushing drumming that makes you want to set fire to the nearest Fortune 500 company. CEMETERY REIGN‘s vocals bark and seethe amidst the maelstrom. The riffs shift and change like subtle changes in windswept sand revealing the sun-bleached bones of forgotten graves, eventually morphing into mosh pit fuel that could send a circle pit into high gear.” – Everything Is Noise on “Curse Of Despair”
“CEMETERY REIGN is not interested in reinventing the genre… What they do best is hearken back to the days when death metal was its most primal and dangerous. After hearing this record, I can fully ascertain they’ve succeeded and, quite frankly, are doing it better than most… among the OSDM revival’s best. Bloody, baring teeth, and grave-robbing the entire time.” – Black Metal Promotions
“CEMETERY REIGN is post-apocalyptic death metal. The age of industrialization is over, and the return to true darkness and audio foulness has emerged once again, paying homages to the old gods, and worshipping through the medium of riff and battery. Confined To Time is a constant beatdown of old-school proportions that should be acknowledged by those who worship the foundational bands… A worthy listening experience for death metal enthusiasts across the spectrum.” – Apanthropy
“Confined To Time is a gritty death metal album without vanity. Like its source, it’s not really new, but it’s also not really like anything else. McMaster is a quality musician and puts his stamp on every aspect of these songs. It has the thick, weirdly rich production of those old Nihilist demos and a Grave-like flesh-n-bones presence. There are no wasted moments… New Mexico rocks and now so does its music. Thank you, Mr McMaster. It’s about fucking time.” – Metal Epidemic
