AUTHOR & PUNISHER Live Rituals To Commence Next Week

In just one week, AUTHOR & PUNISHER – one Tristan Shone — will embark upon a 19-date North American trek supporting Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals. Fitting dubbed the Technicians Of Distortion Tour, the long-anticipated journey will commence July 31st in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Additional support will be provided by Warbeast.

Comments Shone of the upcoming adventure: “I knew I had to step it up when Phil asked me to join this tour…the result is my most ambitious live undertaking. I have worked myself to a bloody pulp soldering, rewiring, building, to make things stronger, louder and more devastating. I also am bringing a small team along with me as well to help with live video streaming, cameras etc. This will for sure be a raucous affair not to be missed….”

AUTHOR & PUNISHER mercilessly manipulate the principal conventions of doom, industrial and heavy bass music relying on cold steel and soulless machinery to sonically replicate the despondency of life. Described most succinctly as “industrial doom,” this one-man project utilizes primarily custom designed and fabricated machines and speakers, devices that draw heavily on aspects of industrial automation and robotics and focus upon the eroticism of interaction with machine. Through his maniacal audio decomposition, Shone paints an often disturbing soundtrack of a world gone rotten.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER‘s latest long player, Women & Children, was unleashed via Seventh Rule Recordings last month and continues to raise the eyebrows of fans and critics alike for its cold, mechanical, inexplicably cathartic audio menace.

Women & Children is currently available via Seventh Rule Recordings. Order your copy at http://shop.seventhrule.com.

“Bloated, muddled beats hang in the air like zeppelins until Shone’s steel-toed boot of a chorus comes crashing down. The structure is something like Nine Inch Nails’ strongest songs: the build, the climax, then the chaos. The last minute of ‘Melee’ sounds like a death march led by a million-strong war cry. The machines have taken over. You have 20 seconds to comply.” – NPR on the track “”Melee.”

“…the music was extremely loud, bass-heavy, powerful and industrial, calling to mind Godflesh-gone-‘roidal.” – MetalSucks of an AUTHOR & PUNISHER live encounter.

“…heavy and disturbing like a nightmare you suddenly wake from but aren’t quite sure you fully escaped…” — Metal Injection

“You ever wish Sunn O))) played homemade noise generators housed in casings styled like power-tools over 200% slower Combichrist drums? Well, if you have ever made that wish, you might be granted something like Author & Punisher. The one-man-band, led by Tristan Shone, has sculpted a blend of industrial, doom, sludge, drone, EBM, and faint elements of gabber to form a hodgepodge of misanthropic noise with his latest effort, Women & Children…. Shone has put together some really pissed off shit that will make up for any Lard album you accidentally bought back in the day… your subwoofer will thank you.: — Mxdwn

“Shone’s apocalyptic noise blends elements of industrial, doom, and dubstep, and contorts that mass into some chilling, unrecognizable form…” – Stereogum

“Once again the envelope has been pushed, the box stepped outside of and the tenants of doom and industrial have been refracted through the prism of the mind of a true innovator and they sound all the better for it.”–The Sleeping Shaman

“…an all-consuming trip into the realm of mental destruction that amazes with its potent use of musical machinery… Both greatly daring and innovative, the record is destined to be one of the most coveted underground releases of the year.” – Sputnik Music

“…a remarkably bleak and sinister record that explores the depressive and psychedelic in entirely new ways.” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy
