“…the record delivers the band’s signature hybrid of NYHC grit and metallic aggression, blending beatdown grooves with streetwise intensity and a wide range of influences.” – No Echo
Respected hardcore source NO ECHO is today hosting an exclusive stream of The Conflict, the second LP from Bronx-based metallic hardcore crew XTINGUISH THE CODE, set for release this week on Grey Matter Records.
A band with NYHC running through their DNA, XTINGUISH THE CODE formed in 2019, having morphed over the years to currently unite bassist Dusty Onita (Apparition, 4 In The Chamber), drummer Nate Boogie (Lake Lanier, No Weapon, MAAFA), guitarist The Professor G Flava (Apparition, No Weapon, Waist In Flesh, Gemini Method), and vocalist BJ Allen (Zero Trust, Full Scale Riot, GMK). Delivering streetwise, energetic, beatdown-driven and groove-based hardcore, infused with elements of metal, hip-hop, and more. The band has played with D.R.I., Sworn Enemy, Downset, Madball, Life Of Agony, Sick Of It All, and many others. Following their Step To My World debut (2021) and subsequent Matter Of Fact EP (2023) – both through 1054 Records — XTINGUISH THE CODE now unites with Grey Matter Records for the release of their second album, The Conflict.
XTINGUISH THE CODE’s explosive hybrid of rabid antagonism culminates on The Conflict, which not only marks the band’s first release with new drummer Nate Boogie and vocalist BJ Allen, is also the band’s first time creating a conceptual release, crafting a story that touches on working-class solidarity and global awakening. Each song is meant to portray a person’s transformation from an ordinary resident to a radicalized citizen. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Joe Kusak at Amplitude Recording, former vocalist Kevin Lugo provides additional guest vocals on the track “Safe Space.” XTINGUISH THE CODE’s The Conflict is prime listening for fans of Incendiary, Burn, E-Town Concrete, Backtrack, Merauder, Bulldoze, Sworn Enemy, Downset, and Madball.
Alongside their advance stream of The Conflict, No Echo presents a track-by-track preview of the album written by lyricist/vocalist BJ Allen.
No Echo writes in part, “Across the record’s tracks, the band explores themes of working-class solidarity and political awakening, with each song portraying the transformation of an ordinary person into a radicalized voice against injustice. Musically, the record delivers the band’s signature hybrid of NYHC grit and metallic aggression, blending beatdown grooves with streetwise intensity and a wide range of influences.”

The Conflict will be released by Grey Matter Records on CD and digitally this March 27th, with the LP pressing to land shortly afterward. Find physical preorders at the label webshop HERE and digital preorders at Bandcamp HERE, and watch the “Despair” lyric video HERE.
