III, the radical new EP from Spanish alternative/punk crew PALMAR DE TROYA, is out today through Reptilian Records.

The follow-up to PALMAR DE TROYA’s II EP, released by Reptilian in 2024, III maintains the late-1990s sonic roots that define the band’s essence, the new material reflecting a stronger identity and a clearer departure from genre clichés, sounding more personal than ever. III draws directly from the influences that shaped the band’s members, while also embracing the new wave of European and British noise rock/post-punk, referencing bands such as Lambrini Girls, Ditz, and Dry Cleaning.

The seven gripping tracks on III were recorded at The Borderline Music Studio in Granada with J.A. Salinas at the helm, as with the prior record. Mixing was handled by Rafa Camisón at El Bisonte Estudio in Jerez de la Frontera, and the record was mastered at Kadifornia Mastering in El Puerto de Santa María by Mario G. Alberni.

III is out now on 10” vinyl and digitally at Bandcamp HERE, the US label webshop HERE, and the EU store HERE. If you didn’t catch it, watch PALMAR DE TROYA’s “The Method” video HERE.

PALMAR DE TROYA was formed in Granada in 2019 when musicians from popular bands such as Maine, Alondra Galopa, and Gentemayor came together to launch a project aimed at reconnecting with the shared roots of late-1990s and early-2000s sounds from bands like Sonic Youth, Girls Against Boys, and The Jesus Lizard.

At the end of 2019, they entered La Resinera Studios in Granada to record their eponymous debut EP with recording and mixing handled by Marcos Muñiz. Just as the band was preparing to present the new project both live and in physical format, their plans were halted by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, leading to an exclusive digital release. Despite the circumstances, the EP was very well received by both audiences and the specialized press. During the lockdown period, they released the single “Metaphore,” a more experimental track created remotely by the band members at the time.

Following the pandemic, changes in some members’ personal circumstances led to lineup adjustments. The band eventually settled into its current formation. With renewed energy, they began working on new material, and in 2024 they released II, their second EP, recorded at The Borderline Estudios (Granada) by J.A. Salinas and mixed by Rafael Camisón at Estudio 79 in Jerez de la Frontera. Although the initial plan was a digital release of II on major platforms, the first advance single, “Bracit,” caught the attention of the legendary U.S. label Reptilian Records, home to bands such as Chat Pile, God Bullies, Unsane, Supersuckers, and many others. PALMAR DE TROYA signed with the label who released II on 10” vinyl, which immediately saw the band drawing international attention and coverage from music publications, webzines, radio shows, and podcasts. The United States, the UK, Germany, and Australia—alongside Spain—became some of the countries with the largest number of listeners.

Following this turning point, the group embarked on a series of live shows across Spain to present II. Their performances—devastating, highly energetic, with a powerful stage presence and short, precise sets—have positioned them as one of the strongest live acts in the current Andalusian scene. With the new III EP, PALMAR DE TROYA plans on expanding this audience even further.
