“One way to think about this song’s progression is as a gradual climb up a hill so imposing that the weather changes as the ascent proceeds, and then as a flight through the air back to the starting point – or some other place equally beautiful.” – No Clean Singing

No Clean Singing is hosting an exclusive premiere for Boston, Massachusetts-based instrumental post-metal outfit LESOTHO, today unveiling the epic title track from the band’s impending third album, A Flashing On Plain Glass.

The follow-up to their 2023-released Through The Dying Light, LESOTHO’s A Flashing On Plain Glass album sees guitarist Kyle Loffredo, bassist Cliff Cazeau, and drummer Dan DeLucia once again collectively creating an emotive and stirring album. The nearly thirty-minute record delivers five immersive new songs which act more as movements, seamlessly transitioning from cathartic melodies to monolithic swells. The album represents themes of impermanence and inevitable change in the world.

To capture A Flashing On Plain Glass, LESOTHO returned to The Bridge Sound & Stage Music (Isis, BEDTIMEMAGIC, Miracle Blood) where the album was recorded and mixed by Alex Allinson, as with both prior albums. The record was mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering (Cursive, Fu Manchu, Modern Life Is War) and completed with artwork by Thibault Landemaine of the Jack Hillside Collective.

The band reveals, “One of the main goals of the record was to create memorable post rock songs with influences from screamo, post-metal, pop, and classical genres. We decided to name the song after the album and release it as the second single, because it fulfills so many of those objectives for us.”

No Clean Singing breaks down the record with an excellent critique which reads in part, “LESOTHO begin their musical ascent by casting a gentle and relatively simple musical spell and then gradually adding more and more ingredients until you find yourself in a dramatically different place. A clean guitar slowly rings a somber melody against a backdrop of ethereally shimmering tones, joined by ringing piano keys. The melancholy melody thus established becomes the basis for further variations as the song unfolds.

“To that foundation LESOTHO add enormously booming and sharply cracking beats and further guitar layers, including mandolin-like tremors, that cause the music to brightly glisten and to yearn. As the drums grow more animated, LESOTHO also turn the music in a darker direction with swaths of fretwork abrasion and heavy bass undulations. The melody still valiantly rings through, but the music swells toward imposing heights.”
