Prolific Chicago-based progressive Warr guitarist JASON BLAKE presents his latest solo release, Infinite Fade, for release October 17th, posting the cover art, preorders, and lead single, “Into Decay.”
When not performing and recording with his progressive metal band Aziola Cry, JASON BLAKE is extremely productive as a solo musician, having released over a dozen solo titles over the past four years alone. Last year, he released the Candles Burn EP, a collaboration with cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne (Leprous, Musk Ox, The Visit), merging progressive rock and classical chamber music. Earlier this year, BLAKE once again collaborated with drummer Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats, Steven Wilson, Joe Satriani) on the A Confusion Sequence album and subsequent single “Almost Entirely Forgotten.”
Now, JASON BLAKE is preparing to release Infinite Fade, a seven-song EP which presents yet another perspective of the artist’s ever-morphing sound. Void of vocals as always, Infinite Fade showcases BLAKE’s touchstyle Warr guitar style in a futuristic, dystopian motif. Somber and melodic, the tunes bring with them visions of an imminent society and its downfall. While most of the record sees BLAKE performing solo, his Aziola Cry bandmate Tommy Murray providing drums to the album’s closing tracks, “A Lost Beacon” and “Into Decay.”
Infinite Fade was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Amery Schmeisser at Gravel Road Recording in Chicago and completed with artwork by Michał Karcz.
BLAKE reveals, “I had the idea to create a story about the decline of a futuristic civilization. As I began composing the music for this album, I decided to have it follow in the format of a Greek tragedy. While the majority of the songs are technically solo pieces, I did use a Wazinator DropKick stompbox pedal to add a percussive element. For tracks six and seven, I included drums by my Aziola Cry bandmate, Tommy Murray. I wanted the entire album to build up to the conclusion of the story and so I decided to include drums on the final two songs. Of my solo releases, I would say that this closest resembles my writing for Aziola Cry.”
The closing song to JASON BLAKE’s Infinite Fade, “Into Decay,” is now streaming at Bandcamp HERE and all digital services HERE.
Infinite Fade will be released across all digital and streaming services on October 17th. Preorders can be placed HERE and presaves HERE.
