“Pull Me Toward The Dark is a solitary work in the truest sense.” – Metal Injection
Metal Injection is hosting the exclusive premiere of “Over My Shoulder,” the new single from DEEPER GRAVES’ impending third album, Pull Me Toward The Dark.
The solo project of Jeff Wilson – also of Chrome Waves, Contrition, formerly of Nachtmystium and Wolvhammer, owner of Disorder Recordings, and more – DEEPER GRAVES serves as a deeply personal counterpoint to his work in heavier realms, favoring mood, texture, and introspection over immediacy.
Pull Me Toward The Dark was fully performed, engineered, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Wilson who also handled its cover art and photography. Fans of Beastmilk, Killing Joke, Joy Division, The Sisters Of Mercy, and similar acts must hear DEEPER GRAVES.
With the new track, “Over My Shoulder,” Wilson reveals, “It’s a bit of an oddball for this project. I never really had the intention of ripping a Type O vibe here, but once the ‘solo’ was laid down, I dug my heels in and went with it… And as inferior as it is to any of the band’s material, I hope this subtle tribute proves their legacy will live way beyond all of us.”
Metal Injection writes, “Jeff Wilson has never been short on creative outlets, but DEEPER GRAVES remains his most inward-looking…. One of the album’s most striking moments arrives in ‘Over My Shoulder,’ a track Wilson describes as something of an unexpected outlier… Pull Me Toward The Dark is a solitary work in the truest sense.”

Pull Me Toward The Dark will be released digitally through Disorder Recordings on February 27th with physical editions to follow. Find preorder options HERE and see the previously released “Where Do We Go From Here” video HERE.
Existing in the quiet spaces between weight and release – a slow-moving, atmospheric post-punk project shaped by restraint and emotional gravity – DEEPER GRAVES has unfolded as a solitary vision with Wilson handling all aspects, allowing the project to develop without compromise or external influence. The debut Open Roads introduced a sound rooted in reverberant guitars, understated rhythms, and melancholic arcs, while follow-up, The Colossal Sleep, expanded that language into darker, more immersive territory – a collection defined by slow tension and pulsing movement. Following the second album’s release, the project released several singles, including covers of The Cure and Portishead, and now prepares to deliver its third album.
With Pull Me Toward The Dark, DEEPER GRAVES continues to drift deeper inward. The album refines the project’s core elements – shadowed structure, shoegaze-inflected textures, and a quiet unease – while exploring new emotional contours. The album unfolds patiently, allowing atmosphere to lead, blurring the line between song and soundscape. There is a deliberate sense of space throughout the record, where absence is as meaningful as sound.
And rather than chasing nostalgia, DEEPER GRAVES reinterprets the spirit of post-punk and gothic rock through a modern, deeply personal lens. Pull Me Toward The Dark stands as both a continuation and a transformation — an album shaped by solitude, reflection, and the slow passage of time, inviting listeners to sit with its weight rather than escape it.
