ATRIARCH: Ceremonial Death/Doom Ensemble Unveils New Hymn Via Cvlt Nation; West Coast Live Rituals Confirmed

Monday, September 29th, 2014

Ceremonial death/doom ensemble, ATRIARCH, today unveils the slow brooding audio treachery of “Allfather.”

The towering new hymn comes by way of the band’s third full-length and first under the Relapse Record banner, An Unending Pathway. Recorded at Type Foundry in Portland, Oregon, produced by Billy Anderson (Sleep, Eyehategod, Melvins et al) and the band, engine-eared and mixed by Anderson at Everything Hz, also in Portland, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Beastmilk, Nails) at Audiosiege, on An Unending Pathway, ATRIARCH delivers catharsis through sonic ritual, churning an otherworldly fusion of death rock, doom, black metal, post punk and psychedelic drone/noise, their haunting atmospheres and avalanches of chest-heaving sludge at once compelling and overwhelming. Imagine Bauhaus as interpreted by Eyehategod, or Sisters of Mercy filtered through Neurosis, and only then can you begin to grasp the darkness that is ATRIARCH.

Relays Cvlt Nation: “An Unending Pathway, is an arresting and welcome combination of doom metal, death rock, black metal, and Mid Eastern-influenced darkwave sounds…. this LP is a well-produced and masterful synthesis of its differing components. It sounds confident and assured, a definite step forward in ATRIARCH’s sonic progression. In fact, I think it’s ATRIARCH’s best and most cohesive-sounding LP to date… singer Lenny Smith’s deadpan, chanting-like vocals rise to the fore, echoing as if sung from the depths of a musty Egyptian tomb. Tribal-type drumming underscores the building intensity, and halfway through the track the band switches gears and Smith begins to sound like Rozz Williams, with the band picking up speed and fury around him.”

Feel the cold audio decay of “Allfather” now playing at Cvlt Nation at THIS LOCATION.

And if you missed it, check out the haunting resonance of “Collapse” via Soundcloud at THIS LOCATION or YouTube HERE.

In related ATRIARCH news, the band will bring their ceremonials to the stage this November on a West Coast run of live dates. Scheduled to kick off November 7th in Seattle, the band will traumatize thirteen cities through November 21st. See confirmed shows below.

HIDEOUS DIVINITY Drops “The Alonest Of The Alone” Lyric Video Featuring Nile’s Dallas Toler-Wade At Metal Insider; Cobra Verde To See Release Next Month

Thursday, September 25th, 2014

Kick your Thursday afternoon in the teeth with the rabid new lyric video for “The Alonest Of The Alone” from Italian technical death metal demolition team, HIDEOUS DIVINITY.

The pitiless new number comes by way of the band’s hemorrhage-inducing forthcoming full-length, Cobra Verde, set for ignition next month via Unique Leader Records. Based around Werner Herzog’s 1987 film of the same name and crowned, “an uber-brutal, churning platter of tech-y death metal” by Decibel Magazine, Cobra Verde was recorded at 16th Cellar Studios (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Vomit The Soul) and flaunts nine tracks of meticulously executed brutality including a searing rendition of Ripping Corpse’s “The Last And Only Son.” Doused in a near-intoxicating air of hate and discontent, Cobra Verde is a true must-have for devout followers of obscure and intense death metal a la Nile and Immolation with the lysergic influences of Ulcerate.

Latest teaser track, “The Alonest Of The Alone” features a guest vocal appearances by Nile’s Dallas Toler-Wade who comments, “It was awesome to get a chance to do some guest vocals on the record. HIDEOUS DIVINITY is one of the most brutal bands out right now, and it’s an honor to be part of that brutality.”

Piss off your neighbors with the North American premiere of “The Alonest Of The Alone,” now playing at Metal Insider at THIS LOCATION.

And if you missed it, check out “Sinister And Demented,” still streaming, courtesy of Decibel Magazine, at THIS LOCATION.

HIDEOUS DIVINITY features within their ranks former members of Hour Of Penance and Ghouls. Born between Italy and Norway in late 2006 as a side project of Hour Of Penance founder Enrico Schettino, HIDEOUS DIVINITY immediately earned underground accolades thanks to their mauling 2007 Sinful Star Necrolatry two-track demo. It wasn’t until 2010 however that the band, with their first stable lineup, would perform live alongside longstanding comrades, Insision. In the interim, new songs were composed with their European death/black influences giving way to a more mindful, complex yet straight-in-your-face death metal assault in the vein Nile, Immolation and Hate: the embryo of their first full-length release. Following another successful appearance in Scandinavia at the end of April 2012, this time for the prestigious Inferno Festival in Oslo, Norway, a three-album deal with Unique Leader Records was forged. In late July 2011 the band entered 16th Cellar to record their Obeisance Rising debut. The lyrical concept is based on John Carpenter’s immortal masterstroke They Live, a dramatically relevant testimony of a dark era that never ended.

Cobra Verde will be released in the US on October 28th, 2014, the UK on October 27th and the rest of Europe on October 31st. Preorder your copy at THIS LOCATION.

INTERNAL BLEEDING: NYC Death Metallers Premiere New Tune Via Cvlt Nation; Carnival Of Death Tour Draws Near + Enter To Win ShowUsYourSlam Contest!

Thursday, September 25th, 2014

With the release of Imperium, the first new album in over a decade from New York City-based death metal institution, INTERNAL BLEEDING, now less than one week away, the gate keepers at Cvlt Nation are pleased to spew forth the debilitating rumble of the eighth cut, “Placate The Ancients.”

Comments bassist Jay Liff of the tune, “‘Placate The Ancients’ has kind of an old-school INTERNAL BLEEDING vibe to it — I think that’s because of how the song flows from one riff to the next. It always reminds me of some of the band’s demos from the 1990s. The riff and tempo changes are pretty dramatic in parts, yet they still have that patented IB groove that flows through it all. I think that’s the key to this song; the flow.”

Get brutal with “Placate The Ancients” at THIS LOCATION.

Produced by the band and Joe Cincotta at Full Force Studio (Suffocation, Dehumanized, Mortal Decay) in Ronkonkoma, New York and engineered by Cincotta and Derek Boyer, Imperium serves as the band’s most inexorable and enraged output to date delivering ten sonically pulverizing tracks including a trilogy featuring guest appearances by Suffocation’s Terrance Hobbs and Frank Mullen as well as former INTERNAL BLEEDING throat Frank Rini. The Sludgelord hails, “There’s a charisma and personality in an album like Imperium and in a band like INTERNAL BLEEDING that is simply absent in so much of the brutal, technical or slamming death metal that’s put out there these days…This is an album worth going out of your way to hear,” Dead Rhetoric dubs the record, “a massive slab of slamming death metal, but done with some actual intellect,” furthering , “time changes, solos? Who knew these could all be accomplished within the slam playbook? Ahh, that’s right, these guys are the ones who originally wrote that book,” while Angry Metal Guy adds, “It’s inspiring to hear one of the bands that pioneered a genre almost a quarter of a century ago stretch it into new and refreshing territories.”

In conjunction with the official descent of Imperium, INTERNAL BLEEDING will crumble stages across North America as part of this year’s Carnival Of Death gala. Slated to embark on October 3rd, 2014 in New York City, the tour will leave nearly two-dozen cities in ruin, coming to a close on November 3rd, 2014, in Montreal. The band will be joined by with Suffocation, Kataklysm, Jungle Rot and Pyrexia.

Additionally, INTERNAL BLEEDING is currently hosting a “Show Us Your Slam” contest! Simply post a picture of yourself on your FaceBook wall showing off your favorite INTERNAL BLEEDING swag and include the hashtag #SHOWUSYOURSLAM for your chance to win a prize pack including two VIP guest list tickets to a Carnival Of Death tour date of your choice and a music and merch Imperium pack courtesy of Unique Leader Records! ROSES NEVER FADE: Dark Neofolk Trio Releases Second Full-Length Via Belgium’s Neuropa Records

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014

ROSES NEVER FADE returns to Belgium’s Neuropa Records with their long-awaited second full-length entitled Devil Dust.

Featuring Ancient VVisdom’s Nathan Opposition, The Way To Light’s Austin Rathmell and Pale Creation’s Nick Fiction, Devil Dust was penned over a two year span at several studios with its trio of members residing in various parts of the US. Mastered by Paul Logus (Anthrax, Clutch, Hellyeah, Shadows Fall, Satyricon et al) at PLX Mastering in New York City, ROSES NEVER FADE’s Devil Dust is a near forty-minute journey of dark, brooding, acoustic-based, neolfolkian textured melancholy marked by its lushly layered, enveloping guitars and stark, chilling lyrical imagery. A fitting audio journey for fans of Agalloch, Death In June, Joy Division, and Tom Waits.

Devil Dust Track Listing:
1. To Valleys And Shadows
2. Vanishing Twilight
3. Every Heart That Will Break
4. Staring At The Sun
5. Hope Has Left Today
6. Incandescent Dreams
7. With Each Passing Wave
8. Your Life To Take
9. In Her Arms
10. Devil Dust

ROSES NEVER FADE was initially forged by Integrity’s Dwid Hellion, Vegas’s Thorsten Wilhelm, Black Marsh’s Matt Shack and Pale Creation’s Nick Brewer (aka Nick Fiction) with the intent to produce emotive, sad, and stripped down acoustic-based passages. Their debut came in the form of 2006’s Fade To Black. Featuring ten sorrowful hymns of lush acoustic guitars, swelling creepy tones and haunting vocals, Fade To Black has since become a cult classic with other formats surfacing since its original release. The offering was eventually repressed on CD by Neuropa Records, consequently becoming ROSES NEVER FADE’s official label home. Various incarnations of ROSES NEVER FADE developed and redeveloped with its final cast featuring Fiction alongside Nathan Opposition and Austin Rathmell.

Devil Dust is available via Neuropa Records at THIS LOCATION. Further ROSES NEVER FADE news to be unveiled in the weeks to come. Stay tuned.

“‘Vector Of Cruelty’ is a masterful combination of coruscating mid-pace burl and quirky thrash, ‘The Murderer’s Pact’ pushes boundaries in the fields of lead work and atonality, while ‘Kill Or Become’ has a sizzling, infectious quality and the potential to be a set closer should they ever quit it with ‘Hammer Smashed Face.’… the point is, there’s material on lucky number thirteen that stands up to the classics.” – Decibel

A Skeletal Domain proves why CANNIBAL CORPSE are still such an integral part of the metal world.” – Loudiwre

“…an absolute must have for any lover of anything brutal…” – Metal Injection

“…one of CANNIBAL CORPSE’s most absorbing records in years.” – The Guardian

CANNIBAL CORPSE have pushed the technicality of their songs without forgetting the brutality or speed that fans have come to expect…with A Skeletal Domain there is even more of a reason for people to give CANNIBAL CORPSE a listen.” – Sputnik Music

“..it’s impressive that a group approaching its third decade can still bring the noise… and songs like the muscular title cut, the frenetic ‘Icepick Lobotomy,’ and the lurching and doomy ‘Kill Or Become’ deliver their dark wares with the subtlety of a morning star to the head.” – All Music

“[CANNIBAL CORPSE] fucking rule their fucking roost with talons of fucking steel.” – MetalSucks

DYSTOPIA: Human=Garbage Debut From Legendary Sludge/Crust Unit Streaming At Cvlt Nation; Twenty-Year Anniversary Reissue To Drop Later This Month Via Tankcrimes

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

With the official reissue of the iconic Human=Garbage debut full-length from legendary West Coast sludge metal/crust punk missionaries, DYSTOPIA, just a few weeks away, today Cvlt Nation offers up the record in its filth-ridden entirety.

Initially released in 1994 as a five-track LP on the band’s own Life Is Abuse and Misanthropic Records, then followed in CD format as a twelve-track brutalizer with help from Common Cause in Germany, DYSTOPIA existed as a four piece with Mindrot’s Dan Kaufman on lead vocals, their doom-laden, metal-tinged, down-tuned punk and “love earth-hate people” credo reaping instant adoration from the Orange County underground upon forming. The pure, unadulterated anger and misery that pervades this record places it among the most alarming, depressing and plainly misanthropic offerings in creation.

Cvlt Nation looks back, “When humans are fed lies, and are forced to think that corruption is the way of the land, some will rebel. Revolutionary beings have been on this planet since the beginning of time, and the early ‘90s was no different. Many punks from my era thought that the scene stopped with us, but the oppression of humanity did not stop in the ‘80s, nor did the music that spoke out against it. One band in the ‘90s that took the spirit of Cali peace punk to another level was DYSTOPIA. This band took the blues of doom, the filth of crust and the aggro energy of punk and ended up creating their own sound that still kills to this day. You know a band is classic when their lyrics act as a crystal ball into the past, present and future. This is just the case with DYSTOPIA – everything that they sang about is coming to pass…”

Witness Human=Garbage in all its cynical glory courtesy of Cvlt Nation at THIS LOCATION.

Included on the Tankcrimes edition are tracks from the band’s 1993 splits with Grief and Embittered as well as one additional tune only previously released on the CD collection. Visually, DYSTOPIA took influence from both anarcho-punk collage art and graffiti culture, blending images of societal decay, inner turmoil and humanity’s destruction of the planet to create a style that goes hand in hand with the music. The Human=Garbage 2014 version includes a sixteen-page lyric booklet, the imagery proving indispensable alongside these twelve tracks.

Set for official unveiling on October 14th, 2014, the Tankcrimes reissue comes packaged as a double LP on clear vinyl with the aforementioned 7” x 7″ sized booklet as well as a download card for the digitally astute. The release will come available on CD as well.

Preorder your copy today at THIS LOCATION.

“…a crust-metal classic… the kind of record you don’t want your parents to know you own, lest they send you in for counseling. Truly a sickening, painful, brutal album to listen to, but it is definitely an ‘emotional safety valve.’ Not something to listen to when you’re in a good mood, but if you feel like beatin’ the shit out of everyone you see (or worse) consider putting Human = Garbage on.” – Punk News

EYEHATEGOD Announces Autumn Live Assault

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

Louisiana volume visionaries, EYEHATEGOD, are pleased to announce their next run of live demolitions this Fall. The band’s latest itinerary includes a short rash of one-off dates in Denver, Orlando and Miami as well as an appearance at Philip H. Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin. From there, team EYEHATEGOD will head west razing stages alongside Power Trip, Iron Reagan and Today Is The Day on select dates.

Comments frontman Mike IX Williams, “New Orleans sons of the hurricane and battered filthy communists, EYEHATEGOD, will embark on a severely damaging run of US shows this October 2014 that are guaranteed to please the dirt starved masses of nasty rock ‘n’ roll tenfold. See ya’ll on the railroad tracks!”

EYEHATEGOD continues to tour in support of their chart-topping, self-titled studio offering and first full-length in nearly fifteen years. Released in May via Housecore, the record continues to reap praise and critical “fuck-yeahs” from fans and media globally. In an 8/10 score Pitchfork declares, “After fourteen years, they’ve come out swinging, armed with yet another of their often-renewed leases on life and still spoiling for a fight. That Eyehategod exists at all is a miracle in and of itself, but the fact that it is so damn great is simply extraordinary.” Stereoboard dubs the record, “a vitriolic demonstration of everything that made this band so great in the first place. There are brilliant riffs, moments of barely contained aural violence and, most memorably of all, the ever-distinctive vocals of Mike IX Williams… a worthy addition to the band’s already impenetrable legacy.” Added The New York Times in a live review, “Something happened to EYEHATEGOD in the last decade, since its members got on the other side of those disasters: some kind of stability — a realization of exactly what the band has and how to use it. And its show at Club Europa, in Brooklyn… fell in line with the last three I’ve seen… It was an extended family of riffs, played over the new drummer Aaron Hill’s weaving, swinging drum patterns, and under the singer Mike IX Williams’ wretched howl and crinkly-eyed, mirthless smile. It was low-end body music, half-slovenly, half-graceful, impossibly deep — music for moving to in fluid motion.”

Additional live incursions from EYEHATEGOD will be announced in the coming weeks. The band is currently working on a brand new picture disc version of the New Orleans Is The New Vietnam seven-inch which will be released soon in an extremely limited leather cover edition on A389. In the meantime, suffer.

LO-PAN: Ohio’s Riffiest Spills New Track At Revolver; Journey With Black Cobra Continues

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

Ohio riff rockers, LO-PAN, hurl forth another track of amplified goodness with “Eastern Seas,” now playing at Revolver.

The tune comes by way of LO-PAN’s forthcoming Colossus full-length set for release via Small Stone Recordings later this month. Produced and engineered by Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Rosetta, East Of The Wall et al) at his own Translator Audio Studio in Brooklyn, Colossus was named in honor of a gargantuan statue of the Greek titan-god of the sun, Helios, constructed in 280 BC to mark a failed siege and the indomitable nature of the Greek city of Rhodes itself.

Capital Chaos commends, “This colossus of an album delivers ten rock tracks clocking in at about forty-two minutes that you will find yourself blasting at full volume in your car. Why your car? Cause this album was bred to be listened to while driving down a desert highway, top down with a hot blonde next to you, rockin’ out right along with you as you head to the beautiful coasts of California,” The Obelisk notes, “…where their last full-length, 2011′s Salvador, was a pinnacle for their songwriting’s blend of fluid groove, soulful vocals and memorable tracks, Colossus reaps the reward of all their touring in pushing LO-PAN‘s methods even further. So it’s a meaner, more precise LO-PAN this time around…,” while Sea Of Tranquility adds, “Colossus will be a breath of fresh air for those that don’t mind a hint of the Sabbath influence but not looking for a rehash of Master Of Reality. Really strong vocals, catchy tunes, and of course plenty of great riffs make up the formula here, and it works from top to bottom.”

Sample “Eastern Seas,” courtesy of Revolver, at THIS LOCATION.

And if you missed it, check out “Vox,” now playing at The Obelisk at THIS LOCATION as well as “Regulus” still streaming at Noisey at THIS LOCATION.
