Long Island-based ARTIFICIAL BRAIN has been confirmed to take part in the MetalSucks & Exclaim! Aggressive Tendencies Presents: The North American Extinction Tour Part II: Inhuman Beings this fall.

The brutal tour lineup sees ARTIFICIAL BRAIN joining headliners Cattle Decapitation, as well as Revocation, and Full Of Hell, with Thanatology, replacing Full Of Hell on the first three shows. The massive trek runs from October 10th through November 20th, invading thirty-seven cities across the US and Canada. This trek is preceded by several one-off performances, including a show in Montreal on August 8th with labelmates Chthe’ilist, and a set at Louisville Deatfhfest on September 30th.

ARTIFICIAL BRAIN‘s relentless second full-length, Infrared Horizon, saw release through Profound Lore Records in April. The album showcases the band in a more advanced state than on their lauded Labyrinth Constellation debut, taking their singular brand of guttural yet technical sci-fi death metal to a new dimension and traveling towards a sonic realm where the music has become more brutal and dissonant, technical, atmospheric, and just overall more otherworldly. Lyrical themes delve into concepts within a dystopian future in which robots and cyborgs have outlived human beings and who believe themselves to be not of creation of the long extinct humans but a more perfect evolution of them. Produced by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Dysrhythmia, Krallice) at The Thousand Caves, Infrared Horizon sees the sonic architecture laid down by the band go further into the beyond and infinite.

Infrared Horizon is out now on CD, LP, and digital formats through Profound Lore Records; orders can be placed HERE.

Decibel Magazine published, “Are ARTIFICIAL BRAIN an abstraction of, say, Morbid Angel, taking death metal’s formative hellfire ‘n’ chaos to a logical conclusion? Or is their creative kin more Deathspell Omega? They have an atonal free-jazz vibe like the latter, but the bruising physicality of the former. There are elements of black metal and post-metal; ARTIFICIAL BRAIN are similarly elegiac. But they are something else entirely, a singularity. A record like this doesn’t prove that death metal has a future; it proves that death metal is the future.” Noisey offered, “For Long Island metal band ARTIFICIAL BRAIN, the signs of humanity’s demise have been in hiding in plain sight in popular literature and film. And their new album, Infrared Horizon, issues a forewarning to the dystopia that awaits should humanity continue its current trend.”

Bandcamp Daily issued, “Infrared Horizon is a concept album about an age when cyborgs and robots have outlived human beings, but you don’t need to follow its narrative twists and turns to feel swept up by its futuristic atmosphere. The guitars often sound like they’re literally being played by cyborgs, and vocalist Will Smith does the guttural, Demilich-like toilet vocals better than just about anyone working today.” Metal Injection praised, “Every once and awhile a band comes along that takes the metal world by storm, not as a passing item of popularity, but as a musical force of such high quality that truly deserves every bit of praise and attention they’ve received. ARTIFICIAL BRAIN fits that mold perfectly, which has always fascinated me, as the group play very harsh and extreme death metal bathed in uncomfortable dissonance.”
