EAST OF THE WALL Announces New Lineup; Band Releases Digital Single As Benefit For Translator Audio

New Jersey progressive metal unit EAST OF THE WALL has posted a new digital single to benefit Translator Audio, the renowned NYC-based studio having been completely destroyed when Hurricane Sandy blasted the East Coast in October. Translator Audio was the place countless bands have recorded some of their most impressive material, including Keelhaul, Unsane, Pelican, Cave In, Made Out Of Babies, Rosetta, and more, including where EAST OF THE WALL recorded their commended 2011-released The Apologist LP.

In order to raise money for the studio’s reconstruction fund, EAST OF THE WALL is releasing a demo of a track scheduled for the group’s yet-to-be-recorded upcoming album, which will be released later this year via Translation Loss Records.

The track, titled “I’m Always Fighting Drago,” is the first to feature EAST OF THE WALL‘s revamped lineup, which still includes drummer Seth Rheam, guitarist/vocalist Matt Lupo, and guitarist/vocalist Chris Alfano, yet sees new guitarist Ray Suhy and guitarist/vocalist Greg Kuter filling the holes left by departing members Brett Bamberger (bass/vocals) and Kevin Conway (guitar/vocals).

Suhy (also guitarist for The Baltic Sea) has been performing and writing with EOTW for over a year, first as a touring guitarist, and then joining as a full member when Conway left the band last April. Shortly afterwards, Bamberger left the band to join Revocation full-time. After some restructuring, Alfano moved to bass and Kuter was added, completing the lineup, and in the process adding the strongest melodic vocal element the band has ever produced.

Those interested in helping Translator Audio can purchase the digital single in lossless audio from Bandcamp for $3 (although those wishing to donate more can do so). Included with the single for “I’m Always Fighting Drago” is an acoustic/vocal cover of “Century Of Excellence,” a song from EAST OF THE WALL‘s first album, Farmer’s Almanac, performed by Larry Chiswick (Vehicle For Blackness, ex-All Parallels).

Stream “I’m Always Fighting Drago” and purchase/donate to Translator Audio via MetalSucks RIGHT HERE.

EAST OF THE WALL will enter the studio in late Spring, but will be road testing the new lineup and material on a short string of tour dates to be announced shortly.
