THE RESURRECTION SORROW: Digital EP Now Available

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

The new digital release from New York City-based doom/rock outfit THE RESURRECTION SORROW, the meager yet massive three-song The Scorpion Savior Sessions, is now available via iTunes.

While The Scorpion Savior Sessions is only a taste of what the band are working on these days — as the band write and build up to their next full-length album, set for release later this year — the EP stands on its own merit as well, reaping great reviews from media outlets and zines internationally over recent weeks. Recent footage of THE RESURRECTION SORROW performing one of the new tracks, “Scorpion Savior,” at a hometown NYC show in June below.

Review copies of The Scorpion Savior Sessions as well as interviews with the members of THE RESURRECTION SORROW are available via email and phone. Summon an Earsplit ninja to carry out all coverage requests, and stay tuned for more updates on the forthcoming album over the weeks ahead.

“…it’s immediately obvious that this is a band who aren’t comfortable staying in the same ballpark as before and are looking to expand their sonic palette. 4/5″ – Onemetal

“…a band that clearly has a grip on the sound they want to play, and they execute it to near perfection. The songs are addicting and often hypnotizing or abrasive, and just show off a great deal of promise from the group. 9/10″ – Apoch’s Metal Review

“As a hybrid of classic proto-metal, doom  and  thrash the band is both heavy and catchy all at once with cool melodic elements at play.” – Metal Army America

“…thick and heavy grooves, a heaviness that summons the Heavy Metal spirit that our beloved genre was built upon.” – Metal Odyssey

“It has been two years since their debut The Hour of the Wolf and if these samples are anything to go by, The Resurrection Sorrow can look forward to spreading their repertoire and fan base wider.” – Alternative Matter

THE RESURRECTION SORROW To Release New EP Digitally

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

THE RESURRECTION SORROW are preparing to digitally release their newest EP, dubbed The Scorpion Savior Sessions. The band has been streaming the songs on their website for the last few months, and are now prepared to sell the release digitally as well.

2. Scorpion Savior
3. Burning Halo

TRS on this recording was:
Alex Dementia – Vox | Alex Coelho – Bass | Louie Gasparro – Drums | Jeff Jardine - Guitar

THE RESURRECTION SORROW Working On New Material; Band Members Needed

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

New York City doomsters THE RESURRECTION SORROW are currently hard at work on their next release. The band are again working with NYC-based producer Joe Hogan (Nebula, The Atomic Bitchwax) as on their debut album, 2009’s thunderous Hour Of The Wolf. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

But the band have also hit a snag, as the lineup shifted and two members recently fled the unit. They now seek a new full-time lead guitarist and drummer to fill out the band lineup once again, complete the new recordings, and get back on the road. Here are some more details/requirements for the positions available:

“The Resurrection Sorrow is seeking a drummer and a lead guitarist to round out the line up and join them for their upcoming ventures. The band is currently fleshing out details for Summer/Fall touring, and are recording their follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut Hour of the Wolf. The ideal candidates have pro-level chops, live and studio experience and the flexibility to tour when the opportunities present themselves. If this seems like a gig you’re well-suited for, please contact us. If you could send us an MP3 of something you’ve played on, that would be a huge plus. Dark, vibed-out, powerful and HEAVY is the theme!”

For more info, contact THE RESURRECTION SORROW directly at: resurrectionsorrow@gmail.com

Stay tuned for more updates on the band over the coming weeks.

ABOUT WHEN I:

When I is a New York State not-for-profit organization which is raising breast cancer awareness among young women while providing charitable assistance. The organization was formed this past June following the breast cancer diagnosis of Kaitlin Pulice, age 22. Since then, When I’s efforts have resulted in the contribution of $34,000.00 to Kaitlin, the first When I beneficiary. Proceeds will be used for medical expenses, procedures and cost of living expenses that would not have been attainable without the help of family, friends and When I supporters. Since Kaitlin’s diagnosis in March she has undergone surgery for a double mastectomy and is now following a course of chemotherapy with radiation to begin shortly.

Despite the increased challenges that come with facing breast cancer at such a young age, Kaitlin has maintained a positive outlook, remains strong and seeks a higher purpose in helping other young women. It is in that spirit with which When I continues their mission. The organization’s focus is not today, tomorrow, or the next hurdle women like Kaitlin face. The When I organization is about staying positive, living life, loving life, and enjoying it to the fullest. When I is about survival and the positive experiences that life can bring during and after treatment.

The Awareness Rocks fundraiser will help fund the organization’s charitable donation program which is designed to help provide young women with timely, effective treatment and care that might otherwise be beyond their financial capability.

If you are unable to attend but would like to make a financial contribution, you may mail or drop-off a check payable to When I, Inc. at; 2875 Oceanside Road, Oceanside, New York 11572. If you are unable to attend but would like to donate a prize for the raffle please call: 516.233.9875 or email; corrado@wheni.org. For more information about When I visit http://www.wheni.org. We are grateful for the love, care and concern you have shown and we hope you can participate in this important step toward fulfilling the mission of When I. Although the circumstances are challenging, our shared dedication to each other, to life and to hope are cause for celebration.

“Raised on swampy boogie rock, influenced by the plodding insanity of early Soundgarden, yet adoring the incendiary thrust of the NOLA heavy music scene, New York’s Resurrection Sorrow have a ballsy fury going on Hour Of The Wolf. ” – Exclaim Magazine

“This absolutely stays in rotation for me after this review is complete. This one makes good on the promise so many bands reneged on back in the 80’s and 90’s.” – HellrideMusic.com

“Lots of thick crunchy grooves, teamed up with an incredible rhythm section, and almost hypnotic vocals really show off the musicianship of The Resurrection Sorrow.” – TheNewReview.net
