PHOBIA To Infiltrate The West Coast Alongside Exhumed Next Month

Monday, January 14th, 2013

Legendary grind assailants PHOBIA will bring their auditory hell to the stage next month alongside longtime comrades and gore peddlers Exhumed. The brief but devastating West Coast takeover runs from February 15 through February 23. Comments the band: “PHOBIA is excited to hit the West, and grind places we actually haven’t played in our 23-year carrier. It’s going to be gore meets grind and its going to fucking slay!”

PHOBIA Winter Tour 2013 w/ Exhumed:
2/15/2013 Industry Theater – Lancaster, CA
2/16/2013 The Yard – San Diego, CA
2/17/2013 TBA – San Luis Obispo, CA
2/18/2013 Slidebar – Fullerton, CA
2/19/2013 Billy O’s – Ventura, CA
2/20/2013 Blue Lagoon – Santa Cruz, CA
2/21/2013 Fat Cat – Modesto, CA
2/22/2013 Whiskey Dicks – Lake Tahoe, CA
2/23/2013 Rockit Room – San Francisco, CA

PHOBIA continues to tour in support of their Remnants Of Filth full-length. Released through Willowtip Records in June, the record offers up eighteen vicious socio-political grind hymns in about as many minutes and continues to reap praise from fans and critics alike. Details Decibel Magazine in an 8/10 rating of the record: “When it comes to serving up acid commentary on scene politics, [vocalist Shane] McLachlan really has no equal: ‘Filthy Fucking Punks’ is a worthy follow-up to ‘Beer, Bitches And Bulletbelts’ (from 2008’s 22 Random Acts Of Violence) and ‘Death To False Punks’ (from 2006’s Cruel). Elsewhere, shifting time signatures create vertiginous effects on ‘Submission Hold’ while [Bryan] Fajardo’s drumming gets the Scott Hull cyborg treatment on ‘Dementia Having Overdose’ (in keeping with the pattern established by PHOBIA’s first drummer the original man-machine Raymond Herrera). Meanwhile, a clip from Trailer Park Boys reminds the listener to “get drunk as fuck” during the 30-second rager ‘Got Th E Fear.’ Nevermind that Remnants Of Filth is an incredibly loud and extremely close album – PHOBIA have dropped that perverse sample in there for anarchy’s sake. That’s what’s missing from grindcore these days.” Blistering gushes: “The beauty of PHOBIA and Remnants of Filth lies in its predictable, yet jarring nature. You can practically look down the tracklisting and know that some kind of storm is going to be whipped up while some socio-political knowledge was going to be dropped. For that, PHOBIA will always be en vogue, the grind way,” MetalSucks notes: “PHOBIA have grindcore down, playing on the element of chaos that exists between punk and metal and volleying with ease between the two, sounding equally comfortable churning chords over d-beats and acting like machines of war over blasts,” This Is Not A Scene says Remnants Of Filth, “grinds harder than a hungry stripper and is twice as ugly!”

“It’s time to annihilate the Mid West to the East once again! Grind your fucking heads in,” boasts PHOBIA vocalist Shane Mclachlan. D.I.S. is really looking forward to pummeling the East with our grinding brothers (and sister) in PHOBIA as well as STRONG INTENTION. I have a lot of history with PHOBIA so it will be great to share the stage with them every night and fun to get back in the van with those stench grinding maniacs!”

PHOBIA unleashed total auditory hell with their Remnants Of Filth full-length through Willowtip Records in June. Remnants of Filth easily stands as one of the most furious releases in the band’s iconic discography. Produced and mixed by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed) the record offers eighteen socio-political grind hymns in about as many minutes and continues to earn critical hails from fans and critics nationally. Commends MetalSucks: “PHOBIA have grindcore down, playing on the element of chaos that exists between punk and metal and volleying with ease between the two, sounding equally comfortable churning chords over d-beats and acting like machines of war over blasts.”

STRONG INTENTION released their Razorblade Express 7” EP via PATAC Records in June which has successful devoured souls across the lands with its unapologetic heaviness. Razorblade Express features bass work by Cattle Decapitation’s Derek Engemann, a killer guest appearance by Eyehategod frontman Mike IX Williams on the title track and “3rd Space Gorilla Generator” and is limited to just 500 copies. Opined Decibel of the release: Lurching sludge with Black Flag riff-o-rama, thick heavy evilosity that grinds like a mortar and pestle…”

D.I.S. (Destroyed In Seconds), are set to unleash their new full-length this Fall via Deep Six Records November 1st. Fittingly titled Becoming Wrath, the offering was recorded and mixed mid 2012 at Architeuthis Sound in North Hollywood by the band’s own Sean Vahle and features nine tracks of malicious thrash-tinged d-beatdowns that capture D.I.S. at their most ferocious.
