JOB FOR A COWBOY: Exclusive Video Premiere Courtesy Of Bloody Disgusting

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

Today prime horror portal Bloody Disgusting are hosting the exclusive premiere of JOB FOR A COWBOY’s “Tarnished Gluttony” video. The disturbing nine-and-a-half-minute clip was directed by Michael Panduro (Saint Vitus, Cephalic Carnage), and comes off the band’s Demonocracy full-length, issued earlier this year through Metal Blade Records.

Comments founding frontman Jonny Davey: “‘Tarnished Gluttony’ originally runs off the idea of blind faith into our government and monetary system. The director ran with the idea and spliced it with a H.P. Lovecraftian twist. The video streams the fascination of religion and the actions people justify in the name of religion, and this video is a spin on the old biblical tale of Abraham and Isaac, however, set in the world of Lovecraftian mythology. The point is, acting blindly in faith to a Christian deity is just as absurd as worshiping squid like monsters from space who live under the sea.”

Adds Panduro: “As a commercial director, I’m a complete failure. The band asked for just one thing and I couldn’t deliver. Indeed, this video has no boobs.”

Called “…an ass-kicking, skull-cracking record,” by Alternative Press and “…a very strong exercise in slickly-produced, technically sound death metal…” by Decibel, Demonocracy tackles a host of political and economic themes and continues to raise the eyebrows of fans and media alike. Don’t miss the band on Summer Slaughter this summer! Check remaining dates below.

PILGRIM: Rhode Island Doom Trio To Appear On East Village Radio This Tuesday, East Coast Mini Tour To Commence March 1

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Rhode Island doom bringers PILGRIM will appear live on East Village Radio’s Metal Inquisition Show this Tuesday, February 28 from 10:00PM – 12:00AM EST. For the first half of the show, the band will be spinning tunes from their own playlist. During the second half, PILGRIM’s latest full-length, Misery Wizard will be played in its entirety.

To hear the show, go to THIS LOCATION.

PILGRIM will be leveling the East Coast this March with their soul-searing bottom-end before making their way to Europe in May. Confirmed dates thus far are available below.

PILGRIM Misery On The Road 2012
03/01/2012 Public Assembly – Brooklyn, NY
03/02/2012 JR’s Bar – Philadelphia, PA
03/03/2012 St. Stephen’s Church – Washington DC
03/04/2012 Strange Matter – Richmond, VA

03/12/2012 1624 N. Harrison St. House – Ft. Wayne, IN w/ Old Soul, Gathians, Somnambulist Red

03/14/2012  ND Studios – Austin TX (Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy SXSW showcase)
05/02/2012 Betong – Oslo, Norway
05/04/2012 Heavy Days in Doom Town Festival – Copenhagen, Denmark

PILGRIM are the latest addition to the Metal Blade roster via Primordial frontman Alan Nemtheanga’s imprint, Poison Tongue Records. The doom trio consists of: Krolg Splinterfist, Slayer of Men on drums, Count Elric the Soothsayer on bass guitar and The Wizard on guitar and vocals. With a mix of destruction, misery and beauty, these young disciples of doom blend a surprisingly original sword ‘n’ sorcery feel with the classic chest-caving heaviness of the masters, Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Reverend Bizarre and Pentagram.

“…an absolutely brilliant album consisting of six epic, fantastical tracks of crushing, deceptively hypnotic and magical doom where no singular highlights exist – each track can stand alone – because the entire effort is a highlight.” – Terrorizer

“…in a realm where the old-school and the experimental push against one another in an eternally dynamic non-equilibrium, it’s certainly not about who your influences are. It’s, of course, about how you use them. PILGRIM simply have fun with these predecessors, renewing old sounds with the zeal of teenage boys worshipping cheap Sabbath posters on their bedroom walls and the skills of players who’ve been at this for a while…” – Pitchfork

“…an impressive offering from a young band.” – Powerline

“This is true doom metal, not the hybrid bile that so many bands are passing off as doom these days. The monster riffs will bludgeon you senseless and shake you to the core, but you’ll keep coming back from more, willingly and repeatedly.” – Pure Grain Audio

“…slow, ponderous, crushing doom, owing much to vintage Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Pentagram, and the like. Ominous riffs, pounding rhythms, and haunting vocals make up the formula here, and tracks such as ‘Quest,’ ‘Astaroth,’ and ‘Masters of the Sky’ mix up the slow motion death marches with speedier dirges for a wild ride.” – Sea Of Tranqility

THE DEVIL’S BLOOD: New Album Out Now! “The Madness of Serpents” Art Teaser Posted

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

The Thousandfold Epicentre, the long awaited new full-length from Dutch occult rockers THE DEVIL’S BLOOD, is out NOW in North America! Featuring 11 tracks produced with the help of Pieter Kloos at Void Studios (Eindhoven, The Netherlands), The Thousandfold Epicentre has reaped critical acclaim among critics nationwide. Crowned this week’s Album Of The Week, MSN Headbang noted: “…this daring, mysterious album sees this promising band starting to sound closer to being fully realized than ever before.” Verbicide championed the band saying: “…if rock ‘n roll is truly the devil’s music, then THE DEVIL’S BLOOD could be headliners in Hell,” while Decibel Magazine proclaimed it “…an 11-track opus of maximum cosmic significance…”

In related news, “The Madness of Serpents” art clip, the latest installment to the record’s video teaser series, is posted now. Check it below:

THE DEVIL’S BLOOD is a dedication to principles and principals more ancient than Time, a branch of a tree greater than the World, an exclamation of both the profound and the profane. THE DEVIL’S BLOOD has always been one of the many vessels through which the Light of the Devil shines upon the darkness of the world and shall always be the possible entrance to a path walked alone. But only for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. This path starts not in understanding but in confusion.

Words From The Converted:

“…undeniably lush and languorous; it stretches and then coils back on itself… A do-not-miss bliss-out blow-up freak-out.” — Metal Review

“… never in my wildest dreams was I expecting an album of such clarity, verve and force, outstripping everything the band has achieved so far in their career and setting an unreasonably high benchmark for this resurgent genre.” — Lurker’s Path

“There’s an odd mini-movement of bands like this – Blood Ceremony, Sabbath Assembly and the afore-mentioned Ghost all truck in various degrees of darkly alternative spirituality and early ’70s hard rock. (Who knew Black Widow‘s 1970 occult rock LP Sacrifice would become such a sacred text?) THE DEVIL’S BLOOD is at the forefront of this strange crowd, however, and the excellent The Thousandfold Epicentre makes no bones about why.” — The Big Take Over

“…THE DEVIL’S BLOOD bring to mind what Jefferson Airplane’s sound would have been if they abandoned their love of psychedelic drugs for good old-fashioned Satanism.” — L.A. Weekly

“On their sophomore album, Dutch act THE DEVIL’S BLOOD deliver NWOBHM-kissed riffs and melodic female vocals like it’s 1980 all over again” – Noisecreep

“…dynamic and luminous…” — Terrorizer

THE DEVIL’S BLOOD are entity onto themselves, and could very well be considered metal’s most valid Satanic band.” — Blistering

“…one of the most captivating releases of the year 2012. A superlative effort,” — Metal Assault

“The Thousandfold Epicentre is capable of alluring visions, a veritable siren’s song of majesty and grace.” — Blood Good Horror
