DRUGS OF FAITH To Record New EP; MACROCK & Decibel Tour Appearances Confirmed

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Northern Virginia’s grind/rock faction DRUGS OF FAITH this week confirms the trio’s pending reentry into the studio this Spring. With the material for a new to-be-named EP in the final stages of construction, the band will barricade themselves into Developing Nations this April, where the raging 2011-released Corroded LP was created, once again with producer Kevin Bernsten. A quick release between their Corroded album and their next pending LP, both through Poland’s Selfmadegod Records, this new EP will be released on Malokul — the DIY label started by D.C. act Disciples of Christ — as a one-sided 12″ with a digital download card.

DRUGS OF FAITH has also confirmed upcoming Spring live attacks, first confirmed to take part in this year’s installment of the annual MACROCK music conference in Harrisonburg, Virginia Friday, April 5th alongside Zoroaster, A Life Once Lost, Earthling, BearTrap and more. DOF will also be laying down opening support at the June 6th Philadelphia, Pennsylvania show of the second annual Decibel Magazine Tour featuring Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death and Immolation, with additional opening mayhem from Magrudergrind.

The band have completed the writing process on three new tracks, and have segments of others falling into place. Otherwise there is no confirmed info for when this new material will see release available at press time, so stay tuned for further updates.

“…Drugs of Faith slows the raw, chaotically fast pace of grindcore to a hurtling mid-tempo right hook… But unlike the faster-than-fast drive of most grindcore, there’s a dynamic push-and-pull at play, more suited to the controlled anarchy of the mosh.” – NPR

“…the grinding, rocking, absolutely devastating trio, led by ‘The Grindfather’ Richard Johnson (Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Enemy Soil), have put out just enough songs to keep us salivating while never giving us what we really want.” – Decibel Magazine

“…Corroded is energetic, pissed, and driven by huge hard riffs that have a sludgy groove but are sped up to raw goodness.” – Music Emissions

NPR Premieres New DRUGS OF FAITH Track

Friday, February 11th, 2011

As the release date for DRUGS OF FAITH’s debut full-length Corroded nears release later this month, today National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered blog is hosting the public premiere of ”Hidden Costs,” the fourth track from the upcoming album. Check out the raging anthem at NPR now.

Virginia-based trio DRUGS OF FAITH’s nearly hypnotic pummeling/dissonant grindcore-gone-rock approach has amassed an incredibly diehard fanbase for the band since their mid-90s conception, and after a steady line of demos, EPs and splits, that horde of fans are rabidly anticipating the release of Corroded. Set for release via Selfmadegod Records on February 22, the album was recorded at Developing Nations in Baltimore with Kevin Bernsten at the helm, and mastered by Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer/Agoraphobic Nosebleed, and features a guest contribution from Pig Destroyer’s JR Hayes on a cover of His Hero Is Gone’s “Hinges” anthem.

Stay tuned for more updates on the band throughout the coming weeks. Promos of Corroded and interviews with DRUGS OF FAITH frontman Richard Johnson are available to North American journalists now.

“…Drugs of Faith slows the raw, chaotically fast pace of grindcore to a hurtling mid-tempo right hook… ‘Hidden Costs’ has the kind of intro that beckons the circular finger motion to start the pit, and with no time to waste, the drums lock in with hardcore fury. But unlike the faster-than-fast drive of most grindcore, there’s a dynamic push-and-pull at play, more suited to the controlled anarchy of the mosh.” – NPR

“…there’s a strong rock element present within the band’s songwriting, which pushes Drugs of Faith atop many of their peers in terms of memorable song structure and album flow, with Corroded making quite the impact even upon an initial, cursory listen.” – Metal Army America

DRUGS OF FAITH Video Now Available Via The Deciblog

Monday, January 10th, 2011

This weekend Decibel Magazine’s notorious blog premiered the new video for “Grayed Out,” the opening track from Corroded, the upcoming full-length from Virginia grindsters DRUGS OF FAITH. The video is a stripped-down vision of the band simply rocking. The blazing video was filmed by Handshake Inc., the same crew that has provided visuals and movies for Today Is The Day and Fuck The Facts, and also filmed the Maryland Deathfest movie.

Swing by and check out “Grayed Out” at this location.

Set for release via Poland’s Selfmadegod Records, Corroded will be available to the public on February 22nd, 2011. Recorded at Developing Nations in Baltimore with Kevin Bernsten at the helm, and mastered by Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer/Agoraphobic Nosebleed, the album also features guest contributions from Pig Destroyer’s JR Hayes on a cover of His Hero Is Gone’s “Hinges” anthem. DRUGS OF FAITH are known for merging the blistering attacks of the grindcore genre with a more dissonant and mid-paced approach, and creating the band’s trademark ”grind-and-roll” style.

Stay tuned for more updates on the band throughout the coming weeks. Promos of Corroded and interviews with DRUGS OF FAITH are available to North American journalists now. Please contact Earsplit PR with all coverage requests.

The Virginia-based trio have completed their debut full-length album Corroded, and are now preparing to drop it on the masses!

DRUGS OF FAITH’s riotous attack that fans have become attached to on their previous releases — including their recent inclusion on Relapse Records’ This Comp Kills Fascists Vol. 2 compilation, and their 3″ split CD with Antigama and the infamous self-titled MCD released by Selfmadegod — is more potent than ever on Corroded, which bears 14 new tracks in under 27 minutes. Lyrically they continue to focus on socio-political themes in their anguished but empowered fashion, while musically they continue to hone their distinctive dissonant grind n’ roll attack.

Corroded Track Listing:
1. Grayed Out
2. Foreign Climates
3. Race to the End
4. Hidden Costs
5. Giveaway
6. Anemic
7. Vignette
8. No We Can’t
9. Untitled
10. Checkers
11. Sight Unseen
12. Farewell Kiss
13. Hinges
14. The Age of Reason

Set for release via the band’s label home, Poland’s Selfmadegod Records, Corroded will be available to the public in February 2011, with a final release date to be announced shortly. The band also filmed a video for Corroded’s opening track “Grayed Out” with Dave Cardoso/Handshake Inc., which will be unleashed next week.

These will be the first recordings from the band since turning in their tracks to Relapse Records for the This Comp Kills Fascists Vol. 2 compilation.

DRUGS OF FAITH features guitarist/vocalist Richard Johnson, bassist Taryn Wilkinson and drummer Edward Spode. Stay tuned for additional info and announcements on DOF’s upcoming album, live updates and more.
