In anticipation of their forthcoming release, Oro: Opus Primum and the follow-up Oro: Opus Alter, UFOMAMMUT have released a video trailer as an early indicator of what to expect from these monolithic new recordings.

The footage was filmed during the recording sessions with Lorenzo Stecconi at Locomotore Studio in Roma, where UFOMAMMUT have recorded their previous albums.

This video offers a unique insight into the formation of their gargantuan riffs, succinct drum blasts, stirring synths and effects and purposeful vocal passages. As the footage draws to a close we are left with an impression of how all of these elements are seamlessly bound together by this dynamic and cohesive trio.

If you thought that Eve was a bold step in UFOMAMMUT’s sonic adventure, then just wait until you hear these titanic recordings from start to end.

Starting today, AOL Spinner is streaming CORROSION OF CONFORMITY’s self-titled new studio offering in its entirety. Set for North American release on February 28, 2012 via Candlelight Records, Corrosion Of Conformity was recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, the 11-track offering was produced by the band in cooperation with long-time collaborator John Custer, mixed by John Lousteau (Foo Fighters) and features artwork by Seldon Hunt (Melvins, High On Fire). “We’ve been writing some new music in between tours and we’re excited to unveil it,” comments vocalist/guitarist Dave Sanchez. “These are the first new songs since Time Is Up came out last year. We recorded a cover of Sepultura’s classic ‘Arise’ for your listening enjoyment and the EP features our Slayer medley that was only available on the digital version of Time Is Up. The EP is a good precursor to where the next album will be taking us. I can’t wait to play this new stuff live… See you all on the road!”

Currently on tour with English Dogs, HAVOK’s stage show continues to gather critical fan and media applause. On announcement of the tour, Los Angeles’ Big Wheel Magazine noted, “opening the show will be Colorado’s fiercest… HAVOK are definitely a band to keep a watch for as their break-neck speed metal is taking the states by storm.” The band has confirmed a string of headline dates beginning March 2 which includes a performance in Puerto Rico. HAVOK then will align with Sepultura, Death Angel, and Krisiun for a tour beginning in Santa Ana, California on April 10 and wraps in New York on April 30.

HAVOK released their full-length debut, Burn, mid 2009. The record instantly found a nice pocket of fans while initiating the early curiosity of media around the globe. Commenting after signing with Candlelight Records, Sanchez said, “this is the break we’ve been working towards. It is the beginning of great things to come. We know that the work is really just beginning and that the pressure is on. But pressure, as you know, makes diamonds.”

It was with the release of Time Is Up early 2011 that things really started to fall into place for the young four-piece. “HAVOK have hit their stride,” said Decibel Magazine. “HAVOK is everything that is great about thrash,” notes Terrorizer. “Everyone should be worshipping at these Denver native’s altar as they have the flashy skill, ridiculous song-writing chops, and prodigious lead guitar work that’ll have even the most jaded ears saying, ‘okay just this last one,’” adds Rock Sound. Two videos, “Covering Fire” and “D.O.A.” have added to the ongoing success of Time Is Up, which has seen double the sales compared to Burn, all while the band has maintained an insane touring schedule. Sanchez says, “we’ve been touring a lot in support of Time Is Up and this year is no exception. We’re hitting the road harder than ever in 2012. There is a lot to look forward to, including some things outside of North America. I can’t wait!”

Initially planned for release in January, Brooklyn bastards VISE MASSACRE’s debut LP Expendable Humans has been delayed due to circumstances beyond the band’s control. Something got jacked with the master and had to be corrected, but it’s not really interesting or important… we’re just here to spread the word that the LPs are being packed now, and set for arrival at the end of the month, which will allow Expendable Humans to finally trample mankind on March 6th. IDES OF GEMINI is a collusion of musical forces precipitated by the haunting and inimitable vocal prowess of singer/bassist Sera Timms, also of Los Angeles dark-psych alchemists Black Math Horseman. The compositions are the long-simmering mental fallout of veteran music and film journalist J. Bennett (guitar/backing vocals), who has spent most of the last 14 years writing for such publications as Decibel, Terrorizer, Revolver, Alternative Press and Thrasher. The third and final corner of the triangle is Kelly Johnston, whose martial drumming techniques and soaring backing vocals literally brought IDES OF GEMINI to life as a performing entity.

Last year, Timms and Bennett recorded and self-released IDES OF GEMINI’s four-song EP, The Disruption Writ, which was anointed “My Favorite Demo of 2010” by the highly influential music blog Invisible Oranges. Lyrically, the songs detailed the terrifying permanence of dismemberment in all its unsettling forms: psychological, emotional and physical. Musically, though? Someone on the Internet called it “dream doom.” Nobody likes to be pigeonholed, but IDES OF GEMINI will gladly take up temporary residence in that particular nook for the sake of shorthand. Which is to say that “dream doom” will do the trick for now. And now is nothing if not fleeting. Mostly because IDES OF GEMINI are about to unveil their full-length debut, Constantinople, via Neurot Recordings.

Set for North American release on May 29, 2012 (May 28^th in UK/EU), Constantinople’s nine-tracks were produced by IDES OF GEMINI, engineered and mixed by Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Skeletonwitch) at Sunset Lodge Recording in Los Angeles and features striking cover art collaboration by Timms and Bennett.

Comments Bennett of the soul-searing offering: “To say that this album is the result of blood, sweat and tears is the understatement of the year. This record exists only by the sheer will and determination of the three band members. Personally speaking, I wrote about half the music during the five months of 2011 in which I was unable to walk. As the worldwide street date for SPAWN OF POSSESSION’s upcoming third LP, Incurso, is now less than one month away, another new track from the blistering opus has unleashed to the public this week via Guitar World. The third track from Incurso bears the title “Bodiless Sleeper,” and over its six-minute duration showcases the multitude of incredibly complex and dynamic structures this revolutionary killing machine produces on the new record. Avant-garde black metal duo FORMLOFF are set to unearth their latest work of audio grimness. Entitled Spyhorelandet, the follow up to 2006’s Adjø Silo finds the eclectic Norwegian duo — Bernt Karsten Sannerud and Marius Sjøli – exploring the darker, more atmospheric realms of their past. Several session musicians were recruited to complete the nine-track recording, including two bass players, a drummer and a saxophonist.

Where most black metal revels in stories of fictional deities, benign and malignant, Spyhorelandet wallows in everyday themes. Much like the cover art, the music contained within bears the stark truth: When you peel back the skin, no matter how beautiful, what is left is the ugly personal histories each of us carries. Throughout Spyhorelandet, naked inhabitants of our world are quoted directly. For many, defeat is their best and sometimes only asset.

Formed in 2005 while attending the Musicians’ Institute in Los Angeles, SCALE THE SUMMIT relocated to Texas in 2006, where they recorded their self-released debut album. After signing with Prosthetic, they released Carving Desert Canyons, which Revolver called “a cinematic blast of intricately melodic fretwork and pummeling percussion,” in 2009. The band subsequently toured with Dream Theater, Devin Townsend and Between The Buried And Me, among others. SCALE THE SUMMIT also has tracks available for the Rock Band video game through the Rock Band Network, while Chris Letchford was recently featured in MetalSucks’ “Top 25 Modern Guitarists” list.
