THE GREAT SABATINI Releases Yet Another Video From Recent LP; New Eastern North American Tour Announced

Monday, September 1st, 2014

Montreal’s noise/sludge rock ringleaders, THE GREAT SABATINI, have just pulled the fifth official video from their Dog Years LP out of their hat, letting “The Royal We” loose into the crowd, while also declaring another new tour in support of the album.

In the ongoing outbreak of videos for their early June-released third album, Dog Years, already including “Akela,” “Periwinkle Love Hammer,” “Munera” and “Guest Of Honour,” THE GREAT SABATINI filmed the latest at a recent gig among their massive, ongoing tour schedule — from loading in, to getting loaded, to unloading onto the crowd, with “The Royal We,” playing RIGHT HERE.

THE GREAT SABATINI will also reload and fire into the US again later this month, with another widespread incursion in support of Dog Years. The Dog Years Fall Tour 2014 will kick off with two shows in Canada before hitting eighteen Eastern American cities through the first week of October.

Dog Years was recorded, mixed and mastered by Sean Pearson (Cursed, Shallow North Dakota), and boasts THE GREAT SABATINI’s raw, unpolished approach to capture n act with years of accumulated experience touring, writing and recording together. The aim was to create a hi-fi document with all of their lo-fi sensibilities, grit and live energy intact, and the results are astoundingly destructive. French noise/metal label, Solar Flare Records, released the album on CD, digital and LP formats, the latter available on both black and transparent red vinyl; place orders through Solar Flare Records HERE and via the band HERE. And stream the entire Dog Years album via Decibel Magazine AT THIS LOCATION.

“The fact that The Great Sabatini pull all of these disparate ingredients and influences together into one cohesive album is impressive. This isn’t controlled chaos, it’s a bacchanalia of the bizarre. 4/5″ – About.com

“The Montreal band’s AmRep-style noise  is energetic enough, often played atop a propulsive d-beat…” – Decibel

“The production on the record is also excellent; courtesy of Sean Pearson (Cursed), the sound is bloody raw with just enough of a stinging, acerbic edge to keep the listener wincing. Dog Years is an example of potential come to thunderous fruition. 8/10″ – Exclaim!

“…a raw and unpolished collection of eclectic, metallic anthems that call to mind the heaviest of the Amphetamine Reptile roster with a grumpier, more eccentric twist… a filthy little album that will have your head bobbing violently to the point of cervical fracture. 8/10″ – American Aftermath

“The Great Sabatini pushes the boundaries of their take on progressive sludge. The band half-jokingly calls what they play ‘swamp trench arithmetic’, but the description fits. Dog Years falls somewhere on the scale between Mastodon and The Mars Volta.” – Echoes And Dust

“The Great Sabatini are a band for people who just love to wallow in the utter chaos of not knowing what the hell you’re going to get thrown at you next. Dog Years is for people who like their music to stink of the stale blood of the maniacs responsible for creating it. Job done then.” – Puregrainaudio

“With Dog Years The Great Sabatini walk that perceptive line between brilliance and mad-as-a-hatter. It might take some time and effort to fully appreciate all the depth and nuance to be found but as they say, all good things happen in their own good time. Now let’s get crazy!” – Scratch The Surface

IDES OF GEMINI: Pre-Order Bundles Now Available As Old World New Wave Release Day Draws Near

Friday, August 29th, 2014

As the release date for IDES OF GEMINI’s brand new album, Old World New Wave, draws near, Neurot Recordings is pleased to announce a host of preorder bundles, now live and available.

For CD orders, point your browser HERE and for T-shirt bundles, point your browser at THIS LOCATION.

Don’t forget to turn up and zone out to “The Chalice & The Blade,” still streaming at Noisey HERE and “The Adversary” courtesy of Revolver Magazine at THIS LOCATION.

IDES OF GEMINI features Bennett, drummer Kelly Johnston-Gibson and the haunting vocal prowess of singer/bassist Sera Timms, also of West Coast dark-psych conjurors Black Mare. The follow-up to the band’s 2012 Constantinople debut, which Pitchfork christened “darkly beautiful,” and Terrorizer likened to, “a metallic-filtered kinship to Cocteau Twins and Mazzy Star,” Old World New Wave was recorded at Valley Recording in Burbank, California, engineered and mixed by Chris Rakestraw (Danzig), mastered by Grammy award winning producer Matt Hyde (Slayer) and boasts the striking hand-drawn cover art of Johnston-Gibson. Notes Timms of their latest manifestation, “For Old World New Wave we all really coalesced as a band, and were able to work off one another’s strengths. J came up with the basic concept and musical framework of the album, and Kelly and I gave it form and identity. For me, my own personal musical identity, taste, preferences etc. were eclipsed by the power of the music which worked as an animate force unto itself — so much so that I cannot listen to any of it objectively, or tell you if it’s good or bad, but I can tell you that it’s distinctively IDES OF GEMINI.”

IDES OF GEMINI will grace the stage this Fall with a pair of live performances, the first serving as the trio’s official record release gala in Los Angeles, the second playing Intronaut’s tenth anniversary show. Additional IDES rituals will to be announced in the coming weeks.

IDES OF GEMINI Live:
9/19/2014 The Complex – Los Angeles, CA IDES OF GEMINI Record Release Show w/ Ancestors, Glaare, Maja D’Aoust (as The Oracle) [info]
12/18/2014 The Roxy – Los Angeles, CA [info]

The caravan of chaos will begin September 5th in Chicago and sully nearly two dozen municipalities before coming to a mutinous close on September 24th, 2014 in San Francisco.

Says guitarist/vocalist Digestor:”Greetings, Numbskulls! Once again GHOUL is coming to your rotten country to murder and devour your lard-assed, chicken-fried, imbecilic citizenry! We are currently hiding in empty pickle barrels in the hold of a tramp steamer on its way to one of your American ports. Luckily the pickle barrels have Wi-Fi, so I can not only send out this message, but I can tweet about all the things that enrage me on a daily basis. What an exciting time we live in! In related news, GHOUL recently penetrated Creepsylvanian National Television with the new rogue installment of their “Burning Questions” video series. Watch Cremator roast their inquisitive fanbase and other vats of humankind’s fallout with Burning Questions below.

Additionally, GHOUL announced a new addition to their maggot-infested back-catalog, with the vinyl manifestation of their debut album, We Came For The Dead!!! Initially released in 2002, We Came For The Dead!!! was an instant cult classic in the most putrid depths of the metal underworld, delivering  a slick, punk-infused style of American goregrind from an unidentified tomb in the depths of Creepsylvania, where they’ve since waged war on mortals from with full anonymity. Having brainwashed countless souls since with a plethora of disturbing musical platters, GHOUL now offers up We Came For The Dead!!! on vinyl which includes a GHOULish rendition of Megadeth’s “Skull Beneath The Skin.”

We Came For The Dead!!! will be available for public consumption September 9th, 2014 via Tankcrimes on three gruesome color variants: a “More Blood” red edition in a run of 666, the ultra-limited “Torch” pressing in a tri-color yellow/orange/bone scheme, and the Die Hard edition, which bears a “Blood Spill” red inside clear vinyl, foil stamped jacket, flexi postcard w/ bonus track “We Are Creepsylvanians” by Igvar Shmeltzy and the Turnips. All vinyl editions include an instant download. Get gritty on this action HERE. And for the CD and digital format junkies, the album comes paired up with GHOUL’s ghastly follow-up to We Came For The Dead!!!, Maniaxe, as a nifty two-for-one album deal available now. CORRECTIONS HOUSE: Seward Fairbury Found! Additional Live Assaults Announced

Wednesday, August 27th, 2014

CORRECTIONS HOUSE Minister Of Propaganda, Seward Fairbury, was located at a mental health facility in Northwestern Arizona last Friday. Some weeks back Fairbury was involved in some sort of as-yet-undetermined violence in his Northern California home. No charges have been filed as of yet. He’s been missing for nearly two months.

Interim band spokesperson/guitarist Scott Kelly had this to say: “We have been searching as best we could and maybe even praying a little for Seward to turn up somewhere. To put it mildly, he’s complicated and we truly barely have a grasp on who he even is in reality. We know that he has attached his psychic warhorse to our souls and ourselves and I think anyone who’s ever been in contact with him knows that’s just one those, it is what it is, type situations. He’s with us for better or worse. I guess now we will just wait to see what emerges from these latest shadows that he’s fallen into.”

Fairbury’s past is virtually unknown aside from his family’s lengthy criminal history which dates back to earliest settlers in the Northern California region. He has been involved in the music scene for well over thirty years in some capacity or another. He has previously dealt with psycho schizoid issues.

CORRECTIONS HOUSE will continue their live assaults this week in Chicago on August 28th and 29th as direct support of the legendary Sleep at Thalia Hall with an additional ritual slated to take place at this year’s edition of the Housecore Horror Film Festival. CORRECTIONS HOUSE will also continue diligent work on their second album which nears completion.

CORRECTIONS HOUSE Live:
8/28/2014 Thalia Hall – Chicago, IL

10/23-10/26/2014 Housecore Horror Film Fest – Austin, TX w/ Neurosis, Eyehategod, Samhain, Author & Punisher, Cattle Decapitation, more

TORCH RUNNER: Details Of Endless Nothing And First Single Released; Second Album Out Via Southern Lord September 30th

Wednesday, August 27th, 2014

TORCH RUNNER returns with news of their second full-length, Endless Nothing, confirmed for release through Southern Lord Recordings this September.

Hot on the heels of the Southern Lord re-release of their debut album, Committed To The Ground, TORCH RUNNER is back with news of their imminent LP, titled Endless Nothing. On their second album, the North Carolina trio unleashes waves of rabid grind, repellent metallic clout and hardline vocal tirades in an uncontrolled explosion, which will surely appease fiends of Napalm Death, Converge and Nails. Southern Lord will release Endless Nothing in North America on September 30th in digital, CD and limited edition vinyl formats.

The fifth track from Endless Nothing, “Godlust,” is now playing at THIS LOCATION.

Exceptionally foul from the gritty start, TORCH RUNNER strikes with a turbid yet tightly-knotted hardcore storm. On top of that stomp, they infuse crust-infected death metal with a powerhouse grind pace, and with throbbing harsh noise to further increase the proceedings, the result is terrifying. Bassist/vocalist Rob Turner, guitarist Scott Hughes and drummer Josh Platt have already released several vicious recordings, including their Committed To The Ground album, released on To Live A Lie Records in 2012 and re-released by Southern Lord in May of this year, preceded by two EPs and a split 7” with Young And In The Way. Now, on Endless Nothing, the band is reaching new depths of auditory violence.

Stay tuned for more preview tracks from the album and tour dates from TORCH RUNNER.

SOCIETY SUCKER: North Carolina Hardcore Outfit Drops “Repeat Offender” From Impending EP

Wednesday, August 27th, 2014

Having quickly surged to the forefront of the quickly growing North Carolina hardcore scene since forming in the Summer of 2013, SOCIETY SUCKER takes lessons from classic bands like Subzero, Next Step Up and Merauder and delivers their own slamming brand of hardcore comparable to contemporary powerhouses Trapped Under Ice, Suburban Scum and the like.

Lifted from their upcoming self-titled 7” EP for Get This Right Records, “Repeat Offender” is the perfect introduction to the SOCIETY SUCKER beatdown for those not in the know. A slick, aggro guitar line keeps you on your toes for a bit but you’re not match for the tracks slamming breaks and belittling gang chants that show up.

“Repeat Offender” is now playing at Soundcloud HERE and Bandcamp HERE; click one of the links and stand the fuck back.

Following their debut demo dropped last year, the Summer of 2014 will bring forth the first official release from SOCIETY SUCKER, having recently hooked up with Get This Right Records for the unleashing of the self-titled EP. With five enraged tracks loaded with more brutal hooks than a fleet of whalers, Society Sucker was recorded in February of this year at The Skylight Studio with Vince Ratti and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, and bears bold cover art by Steven Kulesza. The band has performed heavily regionally along the East Coast with an extensive list of local and internationally touring acts, and is now booking shows in support of the new EP, including a record release show for the 7” on September 13th. SOCIETY SUCKER is a band committed to keeping hardcore hard. This is the proof.

Officially out on September 16th, preorders for Society Sucker are on seafoam green, gold/yellow clear or black wax are live at Get This Right Records HERE, and digital preorders HERE.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER Announces New Round Of Live Assaults; “The Drone Machines Shall Return!”

Wednesday, August 27th, 2014

Master sound conspirator, Tristan Shone, will bring his cacophonous manifestation of cold, mechanical doom known as AUTHOR & PUNISHER to the streets in the coming months for a clobbering run of live takeovers. Set to commence next Thursday with a special performance and design talk at Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh, Shone will levy his punishing sonic decompositions upon several additional music fests including San Diego Music Thing, Cold Waves Festival, Southwest Terror Fest and Philip Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Film Fest, with future enactments in December in their plotting stages.

Comments Shone: “After a Summer of retooling and writing music for the upcoming release [stay tuned for details] I am taking to the skies and highways for a collection of special performances and festivals. After laying dormant for several years, the Drone Machines shall return for some of these events that don’t involve airplanes due to weight and power. ”

AUTHOR & PUNISHER:
9/04/2014 Hopscotch Festival – Raleigh, NC (performance and design talk)
9/12/2014 San Diego Music Thing – San Diego, CA w/ Earth, King Dude
9/20/2014 Complex – Los Angeles, CA w/ 3Teeth
9/26/2014 Cold Waves Festival – Chicago, IL w/ Fear Factory, Die Krupps, Youth Code, more…
10/18/2014 Southwest Terror Fest – Tucson, AZ w/ Neurosis, The Body, Sunn O))), Goatsnake, more…
10/23-10/26 Housecore Horror Film Fest – Austin, TX w/ Neurosis, Eyehategod, Corrections House, Cattle Decapitation, more

AUTHOR & PUNISHER’s latest full-length, Women & Children, was released last year via Seventh Rule Recordings. Crowned “powerful and chilling” by Metal Injection and commended for being “immediate but mysterious, a chimera that’s recognizable but strange,” by Pitchfork, the record continues to astound listeners globally for its ominously expressive brand of mechanical doom. In employing primarily custom designed and fabricated machines, speakers and various devices that draw heavily on aspects of industrial automation and robotics, Shone – who boasts a BS in mechanical engineering and an MFA in visual arts — manages to replicate dejection, desperation and profound sorrow through his musical corrosion with curious poise and beauty.

If you missed it, Shone spoke with Wired Magazine for an in-depth investigation of the voice modulating masks – among many other handcrafted industrial contraptions — that aid in his cacophonous manifestation of sound. View the video and feature HERE.

Following a deuce of scathing 7” EP releases via Atomic Action! Records, this July the label released Providence, Rhode Island-based FUCKING INVINCIBLE’s debut LP, It’ll Get Worse Before It Gets Better, partnering with Reflections Records for the European version. Murderously high-speed blast attacks in strict synchronization with beheading breakdowns consume It’ll Get Worse Before It Gets Better, an album many times more intense than it is brief, seeing the band jamming fourteen unhinged songs through your throat and out the back in barely as many minutes, recorded by Will Killingsworth in March at Dead Air in Western Massachusetts.

BAPTISTS: Track From Upcoming Bloodmines LP Now Playing At Revolver Album Due Via Southern Lord In October

Tuesday, August 26th, 2014

Vancouver’s BAPTISTS this week utilizes Revolver Magazine to drop the first new single from their upcoming second album, Bloodmines, the platter due for release via Southern Lord in North America on October 14th. Arriving at the album’s midpoint, “Harm Induction” is a volatile, high speed, rager. As the guitar riffs scale to an ear-splitting climax, the vocals also reach the peak of absolute seething anger. The track is unrelenting, near suffocating, and highly cathartic.

Stream “Harm Induction” via Revolver Magazine now at THIS LOCATION.

Like its predecessor, BAPTISTS’ acclaimed Bushcraft debut LP, Bloodmines is an exhilarating album pouring with genuine, raw emotion and frenzied punk fury. Shards of feedback make way for rapid riffs and savage vocals, with explosive drumming surging life into every second of each movement. On tracks like “Vistas”, “Calling” and the title track, “Bloodmines,” the pace changes, revealing powerful, melodic and jagged noise rock songs, much like influential San Diego post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu, which go beyond the two minute mark. Discordant guitar melodies and abrasive vocal passages are elongated, still volatile but perhaps allowing for further contemplation of the band’s underlying message.

BAPTISTS continue to find ways to express their rage and explore new turf with each release, and with Bloodmines they have created a memorable and commanding album. The album was recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios as with Bushcraft. The cover art was designed by Jillian Mann.

BAPTISTS will take to the North American West Coast this October on a Southern Lord tour package also including labelmates Torch Runner and Obliterations for the entire trek, as well as Offenders on select dates. As part of the routing, BAPTISTS will take part in the massive Southern Lord showcase taking place in Los Angeles, California on October 15th alongside Goatsnake, The Offenders and Xibalba in addition to Torch Runner and Obliterations. All three bands will then raid Southwest Terror Fest III: The Western Front, set to take place October 16th-19th in Tucson, Arizona, where BAPTISTS are set to perform on the main stage the final evening of the gathering with SUNN O))), Obliterations and Sex Prisoner.

Stand by for further BAPTISTS tour actions and further audio from Bloodmines to be released in the coming weeks. Review copies of the new album will be available shortly.
