BLOODTRUTH: Metal Assault Unleashes Lyric Video From Unique Leader-Bound Debut Album

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

With the impending doom of their debut album, Obedience, looming, Italian death metal horde BLOODTRUTH has created a lyric video for the album’s eighth track, “Foresworn,” which is today viewable via Metal Assault.

The ten tracks engulfing BLOODTRUTH’s Obedience tap into a wealth of unadulterated lyrical hatred released through incinerating waves of limb-removing, guttural metal. Engineered by Francesco Paoli and Cristiano Trionfera (both of Fleshgod Apocalypse) at Sonic Hammer Studios, Obedience was then mixed and mastered by Italian death metal producer and legend Stefano Morabito of 16th Cellars Studios (Hour of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Eyeconoclast, Unfanthomable Ruination, Inherit Disease, and is enshrouded with some of the most intense artwork to date by Colin Marks of Rain Song Design (Exodus, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Kataklysm), the perfect summary of the level of extreme comprising Obedience.

The new lyric video for the album’s “Foresworn” destroyer is now playing at Metal Assault RIGHT HERE.

Initially forged in 2009 as the side project of Fleshgod Apocalypse members Francesco Paoli and Paolo Rossi and now featuring the updated lineup of vocalist Luigi Valenti, guitarist Stefano Rossi Ciucci, bassist Riccardo Rogari and drummer Giacomo Torti, BLOODTRUTH heaves forth a sonic fireball of speed, brutality and unadulterated hate. Fusing the cryptic atmosphere of early ‘90s death metal and evocative Gregorian chant, representing the band’s homeland and history, with methodical technicality, BLOODTRUTH are ceaseless in their ear-lacerating capabilities. A visual teaser for Obedience was previously released HERE.

California-based Unique Leader Records will release Obedience on September 16th, 2014.!/BloodtruthBand

LO-PAN: Ohio Riff Bringers Premiere New Tune Via Noisey; Tour With Black Cobra To Commence Next Week

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

With a tour supporting Black Cobra just one week away and a brand new record, the fittingly titled Colossus, on the horizon, Ohio riff bringers LO-PAN are pleased to uncork opening track, “Regulus,” via Noisey.

Elaborates vocalist Jeff Martin of the track, “‘Regulus’ is the brightest star in the Leo constellation. It’s a multiple system consisting of four stars. ‘Regulus’ is also Latin for ‘prince’ or ‘little king.’ The song is about a dream I had. In the dream I lived on a planet in the regulus system and the star was about to explode. The planet is about to be destroyed. And I’m reflecting on life as a whole facing the knowledge that I’m about to die basically.”

Adds Noisey: “Colossus is a great name for a doom record. In one breath it handily evokes images of majesty, grandeur, and past glories… It hints at hard-won battles and blood seeping into foreign sands, of rough-hewn idols and monoliths crumbling into the foaming sea. It paints a pretty goddamn inspiring picture. That being said, on a less romantic level, Colossus also slots neatly into doom’s obsession with really big… things. Ours is a world populated by behemoths and mastodons, dying giants, sea lords, and elder gods, whose exploits and flights of fancy are riffed sweatily into existence by big burly dudes encircled by halos of amplifier tubes. It’s larger than life, and if it’s done right, it’s way too much for your shitty foam earplugs to handle. It’s awesome.”

Check out “Regulus” before your imminent demise, now playing at Vice’s sound portal at THIS LOCATION.

Named for the Colossus of Rhodes — a ninety-six-foot statue of the Greek titan-god of the sun, Helios, constructed in 280 BC to mark a failed siege and the indomitable nature of the Greek city of Rhodes itself — LO-PAN’s fourth full-length, Colossus, serves as their most personal composition to date and a true testament to their evolution as a band. Having honed their musicianship through perpetual touring and partnering with producer/engineer Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Rosetta, East Of The Wall et al) at his Translator Audio Studio in Brooklyn, the Columbus four-piece knew exactly what they wanted out of this recording. Together they belted out ten smolderingly soulful psalms that reveal just how much they’ve moved beyond their influences to arrive at their own sound – a style built on aggression without caricature, fuzz without cliché, melody without redundancy and their meanest groove to date.

As a precursor to the release of Colossus, LO-PAN will take to the streets next week on a gargantuan live excursion alongside San Francisco volume perpetrators, Black Cobra. The trek will commence in Phoenix on August 28th and wind through nearly three dozen cities, with additional LO-PAN headlining shows added to the jaunt. See confirmed dates below.

BLACK COBRA: US Tour With Lo-Pan Begins Next Week

Tuesday, August 19th, 2014

Gruesome twosome, BLACK COBRA, will begin their massive impending US tour with support from Lo Pan on August 28th.

Since 2001, the BLACK COBRA duo has unloaded a deadly, damaging and wholly unique style of punk/hardcore-propelled sludge doom metal. An introductory self-titled demo EP would get them immediately picked up by At A Loss Recordings who officially re-released the EP as well as their 2006 debut LP, Bestial, and 2007-released follow-up, Feather And Stone, the albums bridged by a split with Eternal Elysium on Diwphalanx Records. Their destructive hymns and notoriously explosive live energy caught the attention of Southern Lord Recordings who signed the band for their acclaimed 2009 LP, Chronomega, as well as their most widely and positively received album to date, with 2011’s massive Invernal.

An unstoppable touring machine, BLACK COBRA continually destroys the planet on the road, having played over seven-hundred shows on multiple continents since 2006, including Asia, Australia and both Europe and North America many times each. Massive festivals including Hellfest, The Power Of The Riff, Roadburn, Dour, Scion and others have set the band up with prime slots where the meager duo strikes the crowd with more venom than a band thrice its size every time. Their albums portray visceral otherworldly and sci-fi lyrics and storylines, the result of the band’s major fascination with horror and sci-fi literature and cinema. Guitarist vocalist Jason Landrian (ex-Cavity) and drummer Rafa Martinez (ex-16, ex-Acid King) both currently reside in San Francisco where they’re working on material for their next LP due for release in the coming months.

With thirty-two cities confirmed to endure the BLACK COBRA live treatment in the coming weeks, the band’s more than month-long US Tour with support from Lo Pan begins next Thursday, August 28th and will decimate the country through October 2nd.

PORD: The Obelisk Discloses Fresh Track From Rural French Noise Rock Trio; Wild European Tour Begins Next Week

Tuesday, August 19th, 2014

From the sprawling backwoods and farmlands of rural Lozère, French noise rock cultivators, PORD, have set up at The Obelisk to market an example of their latest crop, harvested from their incoming second album, Wild. While overall bearing semblance to more widely recognized breeds including Helmet, Unsane, Rabbits, Beehoover and the like, the gnarled roots of Wild pair well with Solar Flare labelmates Sofy Major, Pigs and The Great Sabatini.

The generous flesh of “What Are Tuesdays For?,” the fifth of Wild’s seven fruits, is one of the most pungent sections of PORD’s latest yield, The Obelisk Taksmaster stating of the album, “Not short on atmosphere but sacrificing nothing in terms of efficiency in their pummel, PORD unveil a vicious strain of noise that’s anchored by deep low end and positioned sonically for righteous defiance, and of the track itself, “Maddening drum fills underscore the song, while deep-mixed vocals ask the all-pivotal question, ‘What the fuck are Tuesdays for?’ It’s like a conceptual art piece for disillusion…”

Appropriately check out today’s “What Are Tuesdays For?” special courtesy of The Obelisk at THIS LOCATION.

Additionally, Solar Flare has released an amazing, or as they called it, “stupid,” new teaser for Wild RIGHT HERE, and the album’s leading “Staring Into Space” has been served by American Aftermath OVER HERE.

Preorders for Wild on CD are available HERE and the LP (on black or swamp green/bone splatter vinyl) HERE.

With Wild set to be fully available worldwide on September 8th, PORD will traverse the lands preceding the album’s release and well into harvest season mongering their wares. The Wild European Tour begins at Freakshow Festival on August 30th, and will see the trio caravanning into every corner of their home country and into Belgium and Switzerland through Samhain, including two shows with Hammerhead and more, with additional tour dates to be confirmed.

PORD: Wild European Tour:
8/30/2014 Freakshow Festival – Gigors, FR
9/12/2014 Black Sheep – Montpellier, FR
9/13/2014 Le Studio – Onet Le Chateau, FR
9/14/2014 La Machine A Coudre – Marseille, FR
9/23/2014 Deep Inside – Dijon, FR
9/24/2014 La Malterie – Lille, FR
9/25/2014 London Calling – Bruxelles, BE
9/26/2014 La Case A Choc – Neuchatel, CH
9/27/2014 La Caffette – Bern, CH
9/29/2014 Point FMR – Paris, FR w/ Hammerhead
9/30/2014 Mac Daid’s – Le Havre, FR w/ Hammerhead
10/01/2014 Socquette – Nevers, FR
10/02/2014 Pinky Bar – Nommay, FR
10/04/2014 Le Jardin Moderne – Rennes, FR
10/07/2014 Le Zinc – Poitiers, FR
10/08/2014 Pavillons Sauvage – Toulouse, FR
10/09/2014 Akoustic Café – Nimes, FR
10/11/2014 Les Capucins – Lyon, FR
10/31/2014 La Coope – Clermont-Ferrand, FR w/ Greys

PORD’s brand of output has evolved into complexly structured compositions with a throbbing and hypnotic undertow, along with a sometimes heavy and powerful, sometimes twisted rhythmic section, backed by incredibly tortured vocals. In March of 2014, PORD raided Rec Studio in Geneva to record their sophomore LP with Serge Morattel (Knut, Tantrum, Ventura, Basement…). Dubbed Wild, the strewn but cohesive nature of the band’s output on Wild is as contagious as it is caustic, showing a renewed musical evolution, with PORD’s typical raging sound coupled with a hint of straight rock and roll on a number of songs. With a faster pace and precise execution, their taut and aggressive delivery remains intact throughout the nearly forty-minute venture. The vocals also evolve toward a more rasping, primitive and offbeat rendering of cruder and increasingly straightforward lyrics.

Project — arising from the ashes of Oxymoron — make their stateside debut, in addition to a full set of all Oxymoron anthems. Tthe four-day fest — including the Thursday night pre-party — will also include sets from Sheer Terror, Defiance, Wisdom In Chains, Patriot, Thulsa Doom, Stars and Stripes, Panzerbastard, The Ejected, The Templars, Limecell and many more.

During the fest, Brass City Boss Sounds will have giveaways from sponsors, food trucks and tons of great vendors like Arrest Records, Skeletone Records and Black Hole Records. Similar to their yearly setup at This Is Hardcore, there will be a massive merch pop-up from Shop Shogun.

So you thought Judge Dread was dead? Not in our hearts or turntables and probably not in yours either. On Thursday August 28th, 2014, at the TNT Fest Pre-party at The Webster Underground, direct from Holland, The Prince of Rudeness will be making his debut on US soil and teaming up with New Jersey’s Hub City Stompers to play Judge Dread’s biggest hits “Big Six”, “Big Eight”, “When We Were Skins”, “Ska Fever” and more. Liquor will flow and 45s will spin Skinhead Reggae, Boot Power Rock N Roll, Oi! Chartbusters, Northern Soul Stompers and Junkshop Glam by the BCBS DJs. We have also added to this steel-toed kick, direct from Germany and out of the ashes of Oxymoron, Sucker’s Bad Co.Project. They will be paying a rare set of Oxymoron material. Bad Co. Project will also perform Saturday night.

Friday August 29, 2014:

X, Bad Co. Project doing an Oxymoron set, Negative Approach, Defiance, Thulsa Doom, Hub City Stompers, Drug Shock

On Friday, August 29, 2014 on The Webster Theater’s main stage, LA Punk legends, X, will conjure the ghosts of Decline Of Western Civilization by playing 1980’s greatest debut record Los Angeles from start to finish. “Your Phone’s Off the Hook, But You’re Not”, “Johnny Hit and Run Paulene”, “Nausea” and “Sex and Dying in High Society” are just four of the nine flawless tracks on this record that changed the lives of many. Encompassing what TNT Fest is all about, X provides high energy, non-apologetic rock and roll. Directly supporting X comes Negative Approach- one of the greatest hardcore bands to still be playing. John Brannon & Co own more demons than any ten new hardcore bands combined. Negative Approach was a crowd favorite on the main stage in 2012 and we are pleased to have them back. Seminal Portland anarcho street-punk band Defiance has reunited with its five original members to play songs from their first two singles and album. Mike Arrogant, Alaric Brown, Kelly Halliburton, Tony Mengis, and Eric Niff will playing their first and only East Coast show in 2014. TNT diehards Hub City Stompers, Victory and Drug Shock will kick off the festivities so get there early!

Saturday August 30, 2014:

Judge, Cro-Mags, Wisdom In Chains, Bad Co. Project, Patriot, Lenny Lashley, Traditionals, Hard Evidence, Panzerbastard, Broken Heroes, Duffy’s Cut, Tailgunner, Damn Garrison, No Resistance, Justice Blocc

On Saturday August 30, 2014, Judge returns to CT for the first time since the salad days of the Anthrax to play The Webster Theater’s main stage. After tearing up This Is Hardcore and Black and Blue Bowl last year we can guarantee that the band has never sounded heavier or meaner. We will never have Blitz play TNT (RIP Nidge Miller) so enjoy the much-loved cover of “Warriors” that was responsible for turning a lot of American hardcore youth onto Blitz. Saturday’s main stage lineup could be our most stacked lineup in the history of TNT. NYHC legends Cro-Mags will be playing the entire Age Of Quarrel record which was recently re-released on 180 gram vinyl by Brass City Boss Sounds. Wisdom In Chains makes their long awaited TNT debut while Patriot and The Traditionals return. Ex-Oxymoron punk madman Sucker’s Bad Co. Project make their US debut. Hard Evidence and PanzerBastard make their debut on the mainstage this night as well. Saturday afternoon in The Webster Theater’s Underground you can find TNT favorites Broken Heroes, Duffy’s Cut, Tailgunner (representing Canadian Oi!), Damn Garrison (featuring Richie from The Bruisers), No Resistance and Justice Blocc.

Sunday August 31, 2014:

Jook, Sheer Terror, The Ejected, The Templars, Stars and Stripes, Limecell, Sydney Ducks, Lion’s Law, Yellow Stitches, Chosen Ones, 45 Adapters, Bloodshoot Hooligans

On Sunday August 31, 2014, Jook will take The Webster Theater’s main stage for their first US show ever. Jook, the 1970s underground glam sensation, is credited to as an inspiration of mainstream acts like the Bay City Rollers and features members of the more-well known band Sparks. It still doesn’t seem real but we have all three living Jook members together playing all of their singles which are favorites in heavy rotation at all BCBS DJ nights. “Alright With Me”, “Oo-Oo-Rudi” “Bish Bash Bosh”, Crazy Kids”, Aggravation Place”, “Different Class” and “Movin’ In The Right Direction” are a few songs you will hear. Preceding the main event, our favorite East End Kids, The Ejected are playing all hits. This will be their first US show ever and the only one this year. Sheer Terror will make their TNT debut playing their ugly and proud classic anthems along with songs from their new LP Standing Up For Falling Down. You may even get a Sham cover from their great new Kaos for Kristin EP and you will definitely get a smile from the Rev’s famous stage banter. Stars and Stripes will be playing songs from their upcoming BCBS LP and The Templars finally return to TNT. A number of bands from all over the world will join us on the main stage as well, including Limecell from Philadelphia, Lion’s Law from France, Sydney Ducks from San Francisco and Chosen Ones from Buffalo. 45 Adapters will play followed by Brass City Boss Sounds’ very own Yellow Stitches (Sick Mind 45 release party), ensuring to turn Hartford into a New Hampshire style pizza and beer massacre. Connecticut Oi! band Bloodshot Hooligans kick off the final day and will treat your hangover with the hair of the dog. This will be Bloodshot’s final show so don’t sleep.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY To Kick Off West Coast Tour This Week; Blind Inducted Into The Decibel Magazine Hall Of Fame

Monday, August 18th, 2014

Following their recent stomp through New Zealand and Australia, North Carolina crossover legends, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, are readying to kick off a short run of West Coast live assaults. The near two-week trek will commence tomorrow in Spokane, and come to a close in Vancouver on September 1st. The band will be joined by Bl’ast!, Brant Bjork & The Low Desert Punk Band and Lord Dying!

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY will be touring in support of their fittingly titled IX full-length released last month via Candlelight Records. Dubbed “a triumph” by the Obelisk, IX was captured by the band alongside longtime friend and colleague John Custer. Clocking in at nearly forty-five minutes, the record offers up the groove-laden sludge/doom/punk concoction fans have come to expect from CORROSION OF CONFORMITY. The Onion’s A.V. Club champions the band’s “…smoke-wreathed grooves and sludgy rushes of belligerence,” furthering that, “the album is a meat-and-potatoes feast,” Rock Revolt notes, “…this album contains the vital elements to satisfy the most fervid CORROSION OF CONFORMITY fan,” Decibel Magazine elaborates, “COC stick to the recipe that served them well on both 2012’s self-titled reboot and the follow-up EP, Megalodon: A little hardcore, a little crossover, a whole lotta Southern rock and (especially) doom metal, all stirred, shuffled, layered and frosted in ways that make guessing their next move impossible. But the band’s strategies are more expansive this time out, their tricks more finely woven into the fabric of each song,” while The Sludgelord adds, “not only does IX deliver what we hoped for, but they surpass that with an unwavering confidence – the sparks are flying on this one.” If you missed it, check out the lyric video for “Tarquinius Superbus” at THIS LOCATION.

In related news, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY’s seminal Blind full-length was recently inducted in the Decibel Magazine Hall Of Fame! Check out the piece in the September 2014 issue available for purchase at THIS LOCATION.

ORANGE GOBLIN’s New Album Coming This October; Track Streaming At Loudwire

Friday, August 15th, 2014

Candlelight Records today confirms October 7th as the North American release date for ORANGE GOBLIN’s new album, Back From The Abyss. Recorded earlier this year in London, the album reunites the band with producer Jamie Dodd. It was mastered at Turan Audio in late July. Back From The Abyss will be available for preorder via iTunes and Amazon beginning August 26th. Fans can begin to preorder the CD today via Candlelight’s official webstore and Bandcamp page. is celebrating the announcement with an exclusive North American stream of the album’s first single, “The Devil’s Whip.” Vocalist Ben Ward says, “This song is a real old-school banger stuffed full of riffs, sleaze, filth, and speed… just like the best metal should be! It’s Motörhead-style, outlaw-biker rock in all its glory, destined to get heads banging, fists pumping, drinks flowing and asses shaking. If you don’t find yourself breaking the speed limit to this song, desperate to find the roughest bar in town, start a fight and spending the night in a cell, then you are quite clearly already dead. Let’s ride, let loose, let’s rip… that’s right, you can’t escape ‘The Devil’s Whip.’”

Listen now HERE.

Back From The Abyss follows the band’s most successful release, 2012’s A Eulogy For The Damned, and the recent reissue of their 2007 album Healing Through Fire. Featuring twelve new songs, it delivers the quartets now internationally respected heavy metal. Decibel Magazine calls the band’s sound, “maximum riffage and turbo doom.” Blabbermouth dubs them, “a big burly bag of rock goodness.” Rocking hard as fans have come expect, Back From The Abyss shows not only the band’s tried-and-true blues and doom but the high caliber of their musicianship.

ORANGE GOBLIN will kick off the Autumn with a European tour alongside doom legends St. Vitus. Set to begin in France on October 9th, the tour will work its way through thirteen countries before concluding in Germany on November 14th. On the tour’s announcement Ward said, “We are extremely excited to be going on tour with our good friends and long-time heroes St. Vitus. Vitus are one of the bands that inspired us to form ORANGE GOBLIN all those years ago and to be able to promote our new album and celebrate their thirty-fifth anniversary at the same time just blows my mind.”

American dates in support of Back From The Abyss are anticipated to start early in the new year. Details to be announced shortly.

Together since 1995, ORANGE GOBLIN has released seven full-length studio albums. A Eulogy For The Damned was the band’s first for Candlelight Records and closed a five year recording hiatus. The album was supported with the most live dates by the band in their history; touring that saw the band on North America soil first alongside Clutch then on a full-scale headline tour that found them on thirty-eightstages across the US and Canada. Two videos were filmed and released for the album, including “Red Tide Rising” and the special Scion A/V video for “Acid Trials.”

DIE CHOKING: Noisey Debuts Brand New Burner From Philly Hypershredders

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

As Philadelphia’s hypershred-grinders, DIE CHOKING, prep their second 7” for public infiltration this September, today Noisey breaks off the first chunk off of the EP and rams it into humanity’s collective jugular.

“Non-Yielder” leads-off DIE CHOKING’s II EP, a song the band created in retaliation to mankind’s self-serving, egocentric ways, and a nonflexible outcry to never give up against the suffocating amount of bullshit we’re dealt each day. The fifty-one second destroyer features guest vocals by Steve Jansson from Trench Rot/Unrest, and just like its lyrical intent, yields for absolutely nothing.

Unload “Non-Yielder” at Vice Magazine’s music joint, Noisey, RIGHT HERE.

DIE CHOKING’s hyperactive, earthmoving grind/thrash penetrates with an even darker powerviolence edge on their latest EP, II, discharging five songs in less than six minutes, recorded and mixed at Mark It Zero Studios with Dan O’Hare (Brutal Truth) as with its predecessor. After harnessing the music in one day and all vocals in another the material was mastered by Brad Boatright (Baptists, Code Orange Kids) at AudioSiege. The vinyl version of II will be joined by a document that will function as a real, personal living will, in the theme of the closing track, “Tonsil.”

II will see parole on September 29th via The Compound and DIE CHOKING; preorders for the virgin red vinyl 7” can be placed HERE.

With new live actions continually being announced, this Saturday August 16th, DIE CHOKING will take part in Really Awesome Super Fun Fest in Wilmington, Delaware. The band has also locked a hometown record release show for II on October 17th with Pyrrhon, Artificial Brain and Fantasy Panther. This show will begin a week-long DIE CHOKING and Fantasy Panther tour.

BLACK ANVIL: New York Black Metallers Announce Additional Live Infiltrations; Tour With Skeletonwitch And Ghoul To Commence Next Month

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

New York black metallers, BLACK ANVIL, are gathering their ammo for a live infiltration alongside Skeletonwitch and Ghoul. Set to embark on September 5th in Chicago, the nefarious caravan will blister its way through seventeen cities, coming to a close on September 24th in San Francisco. From there, BLACK ANVIL will perform four additional headlining shows in Salt Lake City, Denver, St. Louis and Covington with more live incursions to be announced in the coming weeks.

BLACK ANVIL will be touring in support of their recently unleashed Hail Death full-length. Championed by Pitchfork for its, “impressive balance of progressivism and putridity,” commended by Noisey for delivering some of the most, “vicious and satisfying black metal laid to tape in the last few years,” and called, “an epic piece of black/thrash metal,” by Metal Underground, the audio vehemence comprising Hail Death continues to rouse listeners both Stateside and beyond for its expansive pallet of influences that pay homage to the likes of Celtic Frost, Metallica, Kiss, Bathory and Watain. Wandering Sound notes, “Hail Death isn’t merely eclectic, it’s epic — a coherent assemblage of songs that provide unanticipated rewards around every corner,” Stereogum boasts, “Hail Death is a pure metal album that relishes in the genre’s conventions without feeling conventional: It’s simply anthemic, aggressive, bombastic, thrilling, and fucking heavy,” while adds, “The scope of these songs is outrageous, eclipsing anything the band have done to date. The hatred and contempt still pulses within, though the method of distribution on Hail Death has far greater wealth to it than their approach on their first two albums.”

Check out live footage of the band performing Hail Death in its infernal entirety at their official record release show held last month at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus Bar below.
