Kentucky’s dark country act LOST DOG STREET BAND is preparing to embark on their latest tour in support of their acclaimed fifth album, Weight Of A Trigger. With the new trek just days away, the band has also posted a video for a new song. LOST DOG STREET BAND is the creation of guitarist, vocalist, and primary songwriter, Benjamin Tod, typically alongside his wife Ashley Mae on fiddle and vocals, as well as touring upright bassist/vocalist Jeff Loops as seen in the new video for “Fightin’ Like Hell To Be Free.”
Following its release through Anti-Corporate Music in March of 2019, the Weight Of A Trigger LP hit #5 on the Billboard Bluegrass charts, remaining charted for more than a month. This accomplishment was achieved through the band’s hard work, their diehard fanbase, and the DIY work of the small label’s team. The band also traversed the country for several months preceding and subsequent to its release. During their time off the road since the fall months, Benjamin Tod released his new solo LP A Heart Of Gold Is Hard To Find, which also debuted on the Billboard Bluegrass charts.
The video for their new song, “Fightin’ Like Hell To Be Free,” was filmed by the band’s longtime ally Anthony Simpkins of the GemsOnVHS collective. Here, the band treads through their early stomping grounds in downtown Nashville and performs the new song together live at Acme Feed & Seed.

The tour will play through forty-one cities across the eastern half of the country and will see the band supported by their friend Casper Allen. See all confirmed tour dates below and watch for additional updates on the band to post over the months ahead.

LOST DOG STREET BAND’s Weight Of A Trigger is a portal into when Americana was peopled by sensitive outlaws who pleaded for salvation in song; a potent distillation of its outlaw heartache soul. The ten-song collection spans old-time music, Appalachian folk, redemptive country blues, and winsome balladry. Each song is elegantly essential, using teardrop pedal steel guitar, delicate fingerpicked passages, emotive harmony vocals, and stately violin touches as delicate dynamic touches. The members’ influences of Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Doc Watson, Devil Makes Three, Tyler Childers, Hooray For The Riff Raff, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Arlo McKinley, and more shine through the band’s emotional lyrics and infectious hooks.
