Cvlt Nation is now streaming Metamorphism, the third LP by Baltimore, Maryland-based synthpunk/doomwave duo CURSE, on the eve of the album’s release through Fake Crab Records. The dynamic new album is making its emergence into the public domain as the band continues their two-month-long North American tour supporting its release.

The third CURSE album, Metamorphism, is a departure from prior material, musically and thematically. With eight expansive new songs, the record conceptually explores man’s effect on his environment, and how it will be recorded in the geological record. The drums and vocals were recorded at Tempo House Studios by Craig Bowen, the rest of the album recorded by the band, mixed by the band’s Logan Terkelsen, mastered at Mobtown Studios by Mat Leffler-Schulman, and completed with artwork and design by G. Ray Mak.

The band’s Jane Vincent offers, “Metamorphism is the third full-length release from our band CURSE. When we started this band in 2011, we set out to make music that held the destructive heaviness of extreme metal in contrast with the delicate melodiousness of synthpop and dance music. Over the years we have worked to incorporate many varied influences into our music. Such genres as sound design/noise, industrial, grindcore, soundtrack music, synthpunk, and new wave have inspired us to make music of our own. With Metamorphism we aimed to bring all these influences together into one cohesive whole, making it our most progressive and transformative release to date.”

Writes Cvlt Nation, “I want music that can delight me and scare me at the same time. Sounds that coax me into dark room and suffocate me with bliss. That’s the best way I can think to describe the gorgeous new release from CURSE entitled Metamorphism. It’s a heady mix of darkwave, industrial, and doom, blending delicate melodies with harsh and abrasive beats.”

Metamorphism will be released on vinyl and digital formats through Fake Crab Records this Friday, October 25th. Find preorders at the label webshop HERE and Bandcamp HERE.

CURSE is currently touring across North America in support of the Metamorphism LP. During the remainder of the massive two-month-long trek, CURSE will share the stage with Pinkish Black, Wolf Eyes, and more before coming to an end November 20th in Washington, DC. CURSE has also locked an official hometown release show for Metamorphism on Saturday, November 30th with Darsombra and more.

CURSE states from the tour, “We have been on tour for over three weeks so far and have about five to go and have been having great shows and a great time. Nothing makes us love this sometimes-unlovable seeming country more than driving around and playing music with the weirdos and the young people. Among others, we have shows with Pinkish Black and Wolf Eyes still to look forward to on this trip. We will be home on November 21st. Our record release show will be at Metro Gallery, on November 30th with Darsombra, Bust Down, and Blowboater.”

CURSE is the work of Jane Vincent and Logan Terkelsen. They came from the disparate worlds of grindcore, experimental electronic music, and goth bands to form this two-piece outfit, which consists of live electronics and keyboards, and both live and programmed drums. Since their 2011 inception, the duo has recorded three full-length albums, four EPs, and two split 7″ EPs, one with Street Sects, and the other a four-way split with all Baltimore-based acts that are at least half female members, including Big Mouth, Wet Brain, and Hive Bent.

The CURSE duo has been touring the United States, Mexico, and Canada extensively since their formation, along the way having played with countless notable bands including Pharmakon, Youth Code, Clipping, The Body, and many others.
