Stoner metal/sludge dealers ASTHMA CASTLE — featuring within their ranks drummer Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index, Scour), the twin guitar attack of Justin Ethem and Cameron Smith (Passage Between, Crawler), vocalist Zach Westphal (ex-J. Roddy Walston And The Business), and bassist Jeff Davis (Damnation Audio effects pedals) — will drop their smoldering Mount Crushmore full-length March 15th via Hellmistress Records. As a precursor to its release, Metal Injection is pleased to unveil “Here Come The Black Ship” for communal ingestion.
Issues the band, “Listen, if aliens are advanced enough to get here, we don’t stand a chance. We might as well just throw a party and welcome our annihilation. This song is about that party.”

Mount Crushmore will be released on March 15th on CD and digital formats with limited edition vinyl to be released the following month. Stealing souls and packing bowls since 2008, ASTHMA CASTLE manifests a unique and seamless, riff-heavy blend of stoner metal/rock, heavy metal, prog, and sludge that takes its cues from the likes of Weedeater, Church Of Misery, Mastodon, Lowrider, Dozer, and Clutch without ever seeming derivative. Their fittingly-titled Mount Crushmore full-length was recorded and mixed at Wrightway Studios (Dying Fetus, Misery Index), mastered by Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer at his own Visceral Sound Studios and features killer cover art by Gary Ronaldson of Bite Radius Designs (Napalm Death, Kreator etc.).
“The riffy grooves of ‘The Incline Of Western Civilization’ recall Sleep and their ilk, heavy yet melodic, with a combination of sung vocals and belted-out roars. Despite a ten-year period of silence between this album and their 2009 debut EP, Jesus, Mary and Broseph, ASTHMA CASTLE are in top form and ready to riff.” — Decibel on “The Incline Of Western Civilization”
“Holy damn on a stick, are these riffs gigantic.” — Heavy Blog Is Heavy
“Sure, the giant-sized, fuzzed out riffs imply the album should come with rolling papers in the liner notes, but the frenetic drumming and technical guitar licks give the whole thing an amped up vibe, like those rolling papers should be laced with speed. Think Pepper-era Corrosion Of Conformity but twice as fast, or Mastodon’s Remission with more major key ditties. You’re stoned and you’re sharp, a unique feeling indeed as anyone who’s ever mixed uppers and downers can attest to.” — Metal Sucks
