Austin, Texas-based MARK DEUTROM presents a new video for “Through The Ringing Cedars,” a track found on his latest mind-altering solo album, The Blue Bird, out now on Season Of Mist. The new video sees its public debut through a premiere at PopMatters as DEUTROM announces the first widespread tour in support of the new LP.

The first work from the former Melvins and Clown Alley member under the MARK DEUTROM name in almost six years, The Blue Bird delivers thirteen diverse tracks, with over fifty minutes of intoxicating, surreal rock, exploring the boundaries of melody, space, nuance, and volume as it flows from track-to-track like a prismatic audio storybook. From classic unconventional heaviness to fever dream haziness, MARK DEUTROM’s multi-instrumentalist approach moves from strength to strength without ever letting his foot off the gas. The Blue Bird is rock grandeur, oozing poise and purpose, and has all the hallmarks to be an abiding piece of heavy rock history.

Following its January release through new label home, Season Of Mist, who also reissued MARK DEUTROM’s entire back-catalog preceding the new LP’s birth, a new video for “Through The Ringing Cedars” comes forth. Filmed and created by David Brenner for the most succinct and arguably densest song on The Blue Bird, the visuals match the audio, swirling with surrealistic madness and intense disorientation, clanging, thundering, winding.

DEUTROM offers with the new warped new visuals, “Arriving from an unknowable past, we stagger lost in forests of our own making towards an unknowable future.”

PopMatters dubs the video, “In true DEUTROM fashion, it is enigmatic and exploratory, strange and familiar, and executed with an intense musical vision that is equal parts accessible and challenging.”
