SKULLSMASHER: Decibel Magazine Streams “High Altitude Saturation Bombing” By Los Angeles Grindcore Act; Rocket Hammer Brain Surgery To See March Release Via Selfmadegod

Los Angeles, California-based grindcore squad SKULLSMASHER, founded by members of Ripped To Shreds, Azath, Draghkar, and more, has signed a deal with Polish extreme label, Selfmadegod Records, for the late March release of their debut album, Rocket Hammer Brain Surgery. The first single, “High Altitude Saturation Bombing,” has been issued through an exclusive premiere at Decibel Magazine as preorders for the record are posted.

SKULLSMASHER‘s newly-recorded Rocket Hammer Brain Surgery LP is a relentless and vile album which deploys sixteen rabid tracks in fifteen minutes. Devastating blasts, buzzsaw riffage, and caustic vocals culminate into a volatile auditory attack reminiscent of the earliest days of grindcore with influences from the modern Gulf Coast scene. Surging with the pummeling style of early-Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Repulsion, Insect Warfare, Maruta, and P.L.F., Rocket Hammer Brain Surgery was mastered at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright (Weekend Nachos, Nails, Magrudergrind, Wake, Tragedy), and features a cover of Repulsion’s “Festering Boils.”

Ahead of the Rocket Hammer Brain Surgery release date, Decibel Magazine debuts the album’s “High Altitude Saturation Bombing,” SKULLSMASHER declares, “Grindcore is war. 21st Century warfare takes place in the digital realm where civilians are unceasingly saturated by propaganda. Our noise expression attempts to recreate the dissonance and chaos fought in the battlefield of minds.”

Decibel concurs: “That quote sums up all you need to know about explosive death metal/grind unit SKULLSMASHER. Their new album Rocket Hammer Brain Surgery moves at 110mph. Blink and you’ll miss the torrent of blasts, tremolo riffs, and incoherent shrieking.”

Rocket Hammer Brain Surgery will see release through Selfmadegod Records on CD and cassette March 29th with an LP version to follow. Find preorders at the label webshop HERE.

Brandon Corsair (Draghkar, Azath, Grave Spirit) started SKULLSMASHER as an ode to the ancient days of deathgrind in 2017. Joined by Neil Tyrant and Vince Gutfucker on drums and bass respectively, they recorded a demo titled Cranial Emulsification and released it on Night Rhythms Recordings. Shortly after the release, the band broke up. However, Brandon soon reformed SKULLSMASHER with Andrew Lee (Ripped To Shreds, Azath) on guitar/vocals in a ripping merger of both the sounds of the earliest days of grindcore. Assisted by Gu Ji on drums, the Californian trio quickly wrote and recorded Rocket Hammer Brain Surgery, a fire breathing vignette of anger and alienation.
