ABJECTION RITUAL: Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth By Pennsylvania Doom/Death Industrial Hybrid Out Now Via Malignant Records

“Intermittent, industrial crashes serve as exclamation points for screamed verses… Holistically speaking, it certainly feels very much like Enemy Of The Sun-era Neurosis.” – Metal Injection

Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth, the new album by Erie, Pennsylvania-based doom/death industrial duo ABJECTION RITUAL, is out today through Malignant Records.

Stream ABJECTION RITUAL’s entire Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth HERE.

With Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth, ABJECTION RITUAL emerges as a far different beast than on prior recordings, now fully untethered by genre constraints and conventions; a vast progression from past releases, incorporating guitars, bass, and a live drummer into their arsenal. In doing so, the band has crafted a far more diverse, idiosyncratic vision, while retaining the atmospherics of heavy electronics and industrial ambience for which they’re known throughout the scene. Like a hybrid of Enemy Of The Sun-era Neurosis, early Swans, Godflesh, IRM, and Khanate, merging with the caustic doom sludge of Halo and Indian, the album is a diverse and eclectic journey which features guest appearances by Rennie Resmini (Starkweather) and author Christopher Ropes, and artwork by Jef Whitehead (Leviathan).

ABJECTION RITUAL’s Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth is out now through Malignant Records on all digital platforms and a six-panel digipak CD; stream the entire album via Bandcamp HERE and place physical orders HERE.

Decibel Magazine reported, “If you’ve ever considered what Neurosis would sound like if their DNA were crossed with a death industrial act, ABJECTION RITUAL are the band you’ve been seeking,” noting that the album draws, “as much from Enemy Of The Sun as from Godflesh…” Metal Injection’s premiere included, “It’s littered with harsh feedback and thunderous bass. Intermittent, industrial crashes serve as exclamation points for screamed verses… Holistically speaking, it certainly feels very much like Enemy Of The Sun-era Neurosis.”

Aversionline declared, “make no fucking mistake: this is not some elementary, half-hearted experiment or ‘copycat’ affair. Without abandoning its atmospheric industrial foundation, this is a legitimately hard-hitting, head-turning hybrid that truly holds its weight alongside the very legends by which it was inspired.” Invisible Oranges posted, “A large percentage of this album is sludge/doom metal, and pretty gnarly sludge at that, with the dark, noisy death industrial which the artist claims relegated to interludes and ambient breaks.”
