KINGCROW Launches First Single From Eidos LP With Official Video For “The Moth” Through Prog Magazine

With the nearing release of Eidos, the sixth studio full-length from Italian progressive metal troupe KINGCROW nearing release next month through Sensory Records, the first single has been released through an official video for the track, “The Moth,” via an exclusive premiere with massive print and online entity Prog Magazine.

Showcasing the Rome-based KINGCROW sextet’s expansive take on forward-thinking metal in a completely different approach than ever before, the video for “The Moth” was created in a unique animated style by Argentinean artist Gastón Viñas, widely known for his similarly-styled works for Radiohead, including videos for their songs “2+2=5” and “A Wolf At The Door,” which combined have collected nearly fifteen million views on YouTube. Issues band guitarist/backing vocalist Diego Cafolla about the song, “When we started to think about the first single, ‘The Moth’ seemed the obvious choice to us since it’s short, busy and quite catchy at the same time and shows also some new ingredients to our sound…”. He continues about the inception of the video, “I was listening to a Radiohead playlist on YouTube when this animated video (for the song “2+2=5”) popped up and I found it terrific and mesmerizing… I contacted Gastón Viñas, the author of the animation, just to tell him how much I appreciated his art…he wrote me back that he listened and loved KINGCROW’s music and that’s how it started. I gave him some inputs about the album concept, the artwork and the song’s lyrics and he came out with another brilliant piece of art! ”

KINGCROW’s video for “The Moth” is now viewable through an exclusive premiere at UK-based Prog Magazine at THIS LOCATION.

Sensory Records, who also released KINGCROW’s In Crescendo album, will unveil Eidos on CD and digitally worldwide on June 23rd.

Following the success of their In Crescendo album — the band’s first for US label Sensory Records, who released the album in February 2014 — KINGCROW, returns with Eidos, a conceptual album about choices, consequences, and dealing with regret and disillusion. As their Phlegethon album dealt with childhood, and In Crescendo about the end of youth, Eidos can be considered the third part of a trilogy about the path of life. Musically it sees the band exploring new territories and pushing the extremes of its complex soundscape attributes with a darker atmosphere. Eidos was recorded at Sound Under Pressure in Rome, with the production handled by the band’s Diego and Thundra Cafolla. Several guest appearances help create the album’s new atmospheres, including saxophone provided by Stefania Bentivoglio on the track, “Slow Down,” and piano by Fred Colombo of Spheric Universe Experience for the track, “The Deeper Divide.” Mixed by Giampiero Ulacco and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New York, the stunning production of the album is matched by visionary artwork by Cristian Nastasi/Devilnax. With over an hour of new material, Eidos is the next logical progression in the evolution of KINGCROW, and will open the next doorway for whatever lies ahead.
