WARDRUNA’s Einar Kvitrafn Selvik To Speak At MythicWorlds Convention This Weekend + History Channel’s Vikings Series Season Three Debuts Tonight

WARDRUNA multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Einar Kvitrafn Selvik, will speak at the Mythicworlds Convention in Seattle, Washington this weekend.

Created by the producers of Faerieworlds and FaerieCon, MythicWorlds celebrates diverse international myth, legend and folklore and is inspired by people who create and live their own unique realms. At MythicWorlds, attendees meet and listen to internationally acclaimed artists, authors and designers, all of whom are myth-inspired makers in a variety of popular media. The convention includes workshops on international folklore and legend, writing and art making, traditional music and instruments and the exploration of ancient wisdom philosophies and practices. Selvik will be speaking at the Graphical And Oral Magic workshops throughout the weekend. The course takes place over three days and will serve as a practical and theoretical introduction and initiation to the northern esoteric arts of Runes, Galdr and Seidr and how they interact. The workshop will efficiently guide its attendees through the vast and fragmented historical sources on the subjects in order to deliver a solid ground to further initiate the practical approach. The power of will and strong emotions entwined with the power of words and voice are key elements of Northern witchcraft and essential in this course. Selvik has studied and practiced these arts since his early teens and will share of his own personal experience on the themes. Each session will contain both theoretical and practical work. Additionally, Selvik will appear in History Channel’s Vikings series. Inspired by the sagas of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok, one of the best-known mythological Norse heroes and notorious as the scourge of England and France, Vikings portrays Ragnar as a former farmer who rises to fame by successful raids into England with the support of his family and fellow warriors. WARDRUNA‘s music has appeared widely in the series previously, and will also be found extensively in the series’ forthcoming season. Selvik will appear in the third season, which is scheduled to begin tonight, February 19th, 2015.

In related news, WARDRUNA‘s Yggdrasil, the second release of the stunning Runaljod trilogy, will be made available for the first time in CD-digibook format via Indie Recordings on February 24th, 2015. The ongoing Runaljod trilogy, which began with 2009’s Gap Var Ginnunga, is a musical rendition of the twenty-four runes in what is often referred to as the “elder futhark.” Some of the oldest of Nordic instruments such as primitive deer-hide frame drums, kraviklyra, tagelharpe, mouth harp, goat horn and lur are implemented, while poetic metres and lyrics are written in Norwegian, Old Norse and Proto-Norse tongue. With Yggdrasil, Kvitrafn, alongside vocalists Kristian Espedal (aka Gaahl) and Lindy-Fay Hella, managed to create //a strikingly beautiful and intense continuation of what was started with their first album, without falling into the trap of merely repeating themselves. The Yggdrasil digibook is the only version where you can find complete lyrics with English translations as well as text on the runes. Order your copy today at THIS LOCATION.

“Yggdrasil lives up to its name – that of the giant tree central to Norse mythology – by stretching out into both darkness and light, a musical ying and yang, like branches creeping into sunlight as they grow up out of a shadowy forest.” — The Quietus

“…something quite remarkable, and nothing quite like you’ve heard before.” — Echoes And Dust
