CLERIC – Gratum Inferno [LP]: Texas-based CLERIC is a vile death metal faction featuring members of Kill the Client, Baring Teeth, and Tyrannosorceress. Recorded by Garry Brents (Kill The Client, Phobia, Noisear) and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (From Ashes Rise, Nails, Sleep), their debut LP, Gratum Inferno, was released by Dallas-based Tofu Carnage in September 2013. The LP boasts nearly a half-hour of CLERIC‘s Stockholm-bred but Americanized death through seven hymns of debauchery, with haunting horror-soundtrack elements permeating from deep within its hellish core. Mastered at 45rpm for superior sound quality, the LP is pressed on 200-gram, translucent yellow wax with blood red and milky clear splatter and features heavyweight spot-varnish printed jackets, gold foil-stamped inner-sleeve graphics and bears insane cover art was masterminded by Jason Barnett (Noothgrush, etc.).

GODHUNTER/ANAKIM Split 7″: Following a steady surplus of independently-disbursed EPs and split releases since their 2009 formation, Tucson-based sludge thugs, GODHUNTER, unload a new split 7″ with local crew, ANAKIM, as a prelude to their impending debut LP. GODHUNTER‘s groove-heavy, low-end bruiser, “Vulture’s Wake,” leads off the split. Recorded and mixed by Ryan Bram at Homewrecker Studios, the song rides the band’s archetypal resin-coated, mid-paced whiplash, all jacked-up with a caustic display of vocal aggression. One of the most solid tracks to date from the self-described “five pissed off dudes in a room full of overheated tube amps and a shitload of beer,” no doubt intended for fans of Eyehategod, Buzzov*en, Weedeater and leaving your problems out in the desert in a freshly-dug hole. The B-side of the EP beholds the track, “The Wimper Of Whipped Dogs,” from Tucson’s ANAKIM. While the quartet also deploys a slow-motion brew of doom, their tactics are a bit more reserved than their aggro brethren, their stoner riffage on a more cosmic, cerebral jam-out level, citing Black Sabbath, Samothrace and Pallbearer, the track recorded and mixed by Mitch Burbidge at Omniversal Studios. The split was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, and bears handcrafted artwork by Shona Crawford/Megaspore Studio. Pressed on blue wax in a one-time run of 300 copies, the split is available exclusively through Earsplit Distro, a joint release between Earsplit’s label, The Compound, and GODHUNTER‘s own Battleground Records.

ANTIGAMA – Meteor [CD/LP]: After releasing several of their most prolific releases in the early 2000s, Polish blastmongers Selfmadegod Records proudly welcomed Warsaw’s innovative grindcore technicians, ANTIGAMA, back to the label after several years signed to Relapse, with the release of their Stop The Chaos EP in early 2013. Just a few months later the band unleashed one of the most punishing releases of their entire catalog with Meteor. The album once again proved all over again why ANTIGAMA continually reaps such accolades with the media fans as both one of the most cutting-edge bands of the grindcore genre. With eleven new tracks of primal annihilation, Meteor reverts back to some of the bands more intimately brutal early material with thirty minutes of ultra-tight grindcore explosiveness, yet continues to carry the band’s detrimentally inventive edge, integrating brief progressive soundtrack ventures and more noise and programming elements. ENABLER – Flies [CD]: ENABLER‘s new CD, Flies, as it’s out now on our new label, The Compound.
Amassed in a duo of spur-of-the-moment sessions in Minneapolis and Australia in early 2013, the unplanned recordings that became ENABLER‘s Flies EP follows a barrage of recordings from the Brew City crossover killers, including their Southern Lord-released All Hail The Void LP and subsequent Shift Of Redemption EP via Think Fast! Records. RISING – Abominor [LP]: Earsplit Distro is the exclusive North American outlet for Abominor, the second LP from Danish metal troupe, RISING. Released November 4th through guitarist Jacob Krogholt’s newly formed label, Indisciplinarian, Abominor contains nearly forty minutes of new material, displaying a faster, more aggressive and gritty side to the RISING sound, incorporating more punk and crust influences, while remaining true to the melodic heaviness that has been a trademark of the band from the beginning. The album is produced by Jakob Reichert Nielsen, who also produced RISING’s self-titled debut-EP as well as their debut album, To Solemn Ash, and the artwork created by singer/bassist Henrik Hald. Abominor is to be the last album from this incarnation of the band. The year leading up to the recording sessions showed severe disagreements creatively and personally within the ranks, and upon finishing the album drummer Johansen and singer/bassist Hald left the band. Abominor thereby signifies the end of an era for RISING.
