The next day ALL HAIL THE YETI will provide support for In This Moment for shows in Springfield, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Clifton Park, New York. And two weeks after the trio of shows with In This Moment ALL HAIL THE YETI join East Of The Wall on an action-packed eleven-date tour of the East Coast and Upper Midwest states, with Meek Is Murder, Family, Exotic Animal Petting Zoo and more also set to appear on regional dates.

“It’s an amazing mixture of Down, Ministry, and White Zombie. The main groove that prowls through ‘Deep Creek’ is wicked… bitchin vocals and sweet as sarsaparilla harmonies, amazing groovilicious guitar riffs, sick and sultry bass lines, and hard driving drums. All Hail The Yeti is a perfect frakking album. 10/10″ – This Is Not A Scene

“All Hail The Yeti manage to separate themselves from a sea of sludge metal, stoner metal, and hardcore bands who are big on hope and short on ability. Every element here is not only relevant, but essential.” – Heavy Planet

“The band has cultivated its sludge metal, hardcore and groove-laden hard rock influences to form a solid, rock ’em sock ‘em unit. The band’s 11 tracks of modern metal is mixed with a doomy/sludgy old school mentality by taking lessons from Black Sabbath, Corrosion of Conformity and Black Sabbath.” – Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles

“I’m not sure exactly how I’d describe ALL HAIL THE YETI. I think the best I can do is call them “Hollywood Hillbilly.” If there we a trailer park on Sunset Strip, I’m sure you’d find these SoCal metalers there distilling their own ‘shine and packing homemade fireworks.” – Hails & Horns

“Imagine for a moment, an alternative universe where Hell Yeah are actually a great band. One that actually lives up to the legacy left by it’s predecessors in Pantera, Damageplan and Mudvayne.  Sounds good, doesn’t it? Well, you’re in luck, All Hail The Yeti are that band.” – HeavyBlogIsHeavy

WORMED: Sci-Fi Death Metal Hellions Premiere New Track at Invisible Oranges

Thursday, February 28th, 2013

Today death metal’s favorite space travelers WORMED bring you “Stellar Depopulation,” courtesy of Invisible Oranges. The latest track premiere comes in celebration of the band’s forthcoming studio outing, Exodromos. Recorded at Sadman Studios in Madrid, Spain and mastered by Mika Jussila (Amorphis, Impaled Nazarene, Children of Bodom, Nightwish etc.) at the infamous Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland, Exodromos will be unleashed upon the masses on March 26, 2013 via Willowtip Records. Notes Invisible Oranges of the offering: “WORMED is playing cutting-edge technical death metal now, complete with actual dynamics and guitar work that is both adventurously noisy and adventurously melodic — a rare combination.”

Commended for its “astronomically high mindfuck factor” by Decibel Magazine, the 10-track Exodromos serves as the prequel to Planisphaerium (originally released in 2003 in Japan then remastered last year by Willowtip), which centers itself around futuristic science concepts and chaotic visions of the last human left in the cosmos. Elaborates the band of the latest single: “Into an extremely dense black hole, trillions of stars are dragged. The gravitational forces degenerate the matter in the re-collapse of the universe. ‘Stellar Depopulation’ is an analysis of a computer, a warning, and at the same time, the vision of the end of known era of cosmos through the eyes of a bio-technological brain.”

Heed the warning at THIS LOCATION.

Sophisticated, sharp and meticulously calculated, with Exodromos WORMED hurls a maniacal ambush of concentrated brutality and deep space delirium. Made of dissonant yet dynamic hyper-technical guitar traveling at breakneck speeds, the record offers up some of the band’s most technical and plainly obliterating material to date. For Exodromos preorders, got to THIS LOCATION.

“…a ridiculously brutal album that also manages to be mind-blowingly unique. WORMED have crafted some of the most alien yet memorable riffs ever, and strung them together to create a stellar album full of masterful songs. Exodromos is clearly one of the best extreme metal releases of the past few years, and a must-listen.” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

Originally conceived in 2007 as an instrumental trio, the BATILLUS lineup expanded in 2009 to add vocals, synthesizers, and samples to the dynamic range of their music. Once described by The New Yorker as “[a] sludgy four-piece that slows monstrous Black Sabbath riffs to a crawl to produce highly textured compositions of droning doom-metal,” and commended for their meticulous weave of “searing feedback and blistering riffs” by NPR, the tight and focused songs on Concrete Sustain reflect this expanded palette, which has had a profound effect on the band’s writing process.

“Concrete Sustain is the sound of modern doom and each track here holds dear to its heart the essence and core of the doom genre, yet BATILLUS twist it and turn it onto something new and different and a marvel to experience.” – Cvlt Nation

“Sounds and noises come at you from nowhere in the vast darkness BATILLUS have offer on here. Concrete Sustain is an album that is truly alive. They have added a dark demented soul to their music and it is not a pretty sight. BATILLUS have taken another almighty step towards greatness…” – The SludgeLord

“For many metal acts the word ‘industrial’ is simply an adjective to throw around. For BATILLUS, who hail from the home of skyscrapers and 24-hour Starbucks known as New York City, this workman-like take on pressurized doom metal is not just another sonic layer, but a sense of being.” – Invisible Oranges

BATILLUS have excelled on Concrete Sustain creating their best work and to my ears a faultless album.” – Echoes And Dust

“…a 2013 must-listen for fans of doom, especially those who might want to do more than stand in place and nod dreamily at the floor.” – No Clean Singing

TODAY IS THE DAY Premieres Exclusive Single With Noisey/Vice; North American Tour Begins Next Week

Thursday, February 28th, 2013

With TODAY IS THE DAY now just a week from embarking on their six-week headlining North American tour, today the trio releases a brand new surprise single upon the unsuspecting public.

While the next full-length will not be recorded until later in the year, the futurist metal clan wanted to offer something brand new to fans attending shows along the upcoming tour routing. “Sick Of Your Mouth” surges with an intensity TODAY IS THE DAY has continually delivered for two decades, its pummeling percussion and angular riffage as always lead by founding frontman Steve Austin’s signature vocal style. The construction of the song was an inside job, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Steve Austin and bassist Ryan Jones at Austin Enterprise, where Austin has recorded and produced seminal albums for Lamb of God, Converge, Deadguy and countless others over the past twenty years.

Vile and cynical, closing with the words “Hate fills the heart / Tears it all down / Destroy / Death, my endless dream,” unleash wrath on society with “Sick Of Your Mouth” at Noisey, VICE Mag’s music channel, RIGHT HERE.

Led by visionary frontman Steve Austin, TODAY IS THE DAY’s violent and psychedelic attack has received worldwide acclaim since their 1993 debut, Supernova. Nine studio albums have been released through Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse and others, the band’s ever-morphing lineup featuring notable musicians including Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, who would later go on to form Mastodon. The current lineup sees Austin flanked by drummer Curran Reynolds (Wetnurse) and bassist Ryan Jones (Wetnurse, Mutilation Rites). The band’s most recent Pain Is A Warning LP was issued by Blackmarket Activities in 2011, the Kurt Ballou-produced beast receiving critical acclaim worldwide.

arbogast: Genre-Mangling Chicago Trio Prepares For Live Actions

Thursday, February 28th, 2013

Chicago-based arbogast’s off-kilter but seamless hybrid of extreme musical styles infiltrated the media at the turn of the year by way of a crushing debut album, simply entitled I. The trio’s slamming hooks and percussion are also fueled by sturdy societal and political standpoints.

Following regional shows in support of the album over recent weeks, and while currently working on new videos to be released in the coming weeks, arbogast is actively setting up shows in their hometown and abroad. Having just confirmed a new set of dates on the East Coast this Spring, the outfit will take their chaotic, genresmashing tunes to new audiences throughout the Northeastern corner of the country in early April. In the meantime new Chicago shows are also confirmed; the band will share the stage with Behold… The Arctopus and Murmur in mid-March, and will also storm The Burlington with Guzzlemug and Arctic Sleep tonight, Thursday, February 28th.

Stay tuned for details on additional arbogast live actions to be confirmed and disbursed in the near future. In the meantime let the forty-three minutes of I infiltrate your auditory receptors RIGHT HERE.

Also check out the trio whipping up arbogast blue cheese hot wing burgers smothered in veggie chili with seitan during a recent interrogation/beer drinking session via Brutally Delicious HERE.

arbogast’s influences encompass everything that is heavy, blending metal, thrash, hardcore, sludge and even old-school punk into an aggressively progressive haze that never veers too far into the pretentious. Their debut album I tackles a theme on the minds of many: the declining morals of a country where the middle class is being overthrown by the greed of the privileged. Recorded by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) at Bricktop Studios in Pilsen and mastered by Matt DeWine at Ukrainian Village’s Pieholden Suite Sound, founded by the late Jay Bennett (Wilco), I was released in December via New Jersey-based Nefarious Industries.

“…successfully fuses the well-deep riffing of doom metal with the head-banging aggression of thrash and hardcore punk, a blend it manages successfully across the record’s 11 tracks.” – The Onion’s A.V. Club

“Seriously, how is this band not already signed, touring with (and blowing away) the likes of High on Fire and The Sword? The world is a cruel and unjust place…” – Decibel

“…complex, engagingly brainy metal, driven by righteous political fury—the band reserves a special place in Hades for the rich and exploitative—and leavened with quiet, clean breaks whose breathing room really just sets up the next charge of jackhammer force.” – Chicago Reader

“With an overall prog-metal sound, fans of post-metal bands like Neurosis and Russian Circles, and more aggressive metal groups like Black Tusk and Baroness, will find common ground with arbogast’s I.” – Delusions of Adequacy

“A thrashy take on stoner/sludge metal, hard to define, great chemistry between the trio, not content to stick to the same approach on every song. 4/5″ – Metal Underground

“…sounds like early Refused with a shot of sludge…” – MetalSucks

“Tremolo guitars grapple with hard-hit drums as the battle rages on between the classes. Each song sets a scene so effectively you’d think the concept album was meant for a film.” – Mxdwn

“…a stunning and outstanding album that should hopefully propel them amongst the elite of Sludge Metal as they have some major fucking talent that deserves to be heard on a bigger stage as possible.” – The Sludgelord

“…a sound that is very different and their diatribes against the privileged few that continue to subjugate the masses is all the more vicious for it.” – The Midlands Rocks

Today the perpetrators at Invisible Oranges offer up an exclusive premiere of “Bottom Feeder” from powerviolence-seared hardcore instigators CALL OF THE VOID. Formerly known as Ironhorse, CALL OF THE VOID seamlessly merge visions of grind forefathers Pig Destroyer while effortlessly treading the abrasive, caustic nature of Converge’s hybrid progressive hardcore and Mastodon’s technical metal-tinged rock mastery.

Commended for their distinct brand of “furious, bone-crushing, head-splitting doom” by MetalSucks, and their “huge riffs, excellent tone and an attitude not usually seen in bands with this much groove” by Crustcake, HOWL unleashed their Full Of Hell debut to unsuspecting ears in 2010. Gushed in a near perfect rating of the record: “Full Of Hell isn’t just one of the best metal debuts of the year. It’s likely to be one of the best metal albums of the year.”

SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME: West Coast Tour Begins Tomorrow

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013

While NEUROSIS continues to dominate massive venues in support of their acclaimed tenth studio endeavor, Honor Found In Decay, founding guitarist/vocalist SCOTT KELLY has been touring smaller clubs with his more personal solo material amidst the shows. In addition to his recent American performances as part of CORRECTIONS HOUSE, and recent tours stateside and in Europe as SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME, the latter act will perform a new string of West Coast shows beginning tomorrow.

At the firs of the dozen newly confirmed gigs, SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME will perform this Thursday, February 28th on NEUROSIS’ native soil in Oakland, alongside Eugene Robinson (Oxbow) as well as a screening of the DIY record industry film Blood, Sweat & Vinyl. Performances in Santa Cruz, Freson, Santa Ana, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Boise, Spokane, Bellingham, Vancouver, Seattle and Portland will follow.

Dissimilar to his previous solo outings, KELLY sought out additional musicians to help create his latest musical vision, recruiting good friends Greg Dale and Noah Landis (Neurosis), forming SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME. The first album by this trio, The Forgiven Ghost In Me, flows with over forty minutes of foreboding Americana showcasing the ever-evolving artist brandishing some of his most expressive hymns of pain, reflection and redemption to date also features guest contributions from Jason Roeder (Neurosis, Sleep) and Josh Graham (A Storm Of Light, ex-Neurosis).

“The trio keeps the vibe slow, stark and intimate throughout, with Kelly’s acoustic guitar and weathered voice front and center. He wields the latter like a favorite stiletto… 8/10″ – Decibel

“With raw, organic production letting you feel that Kelly and co-conspirators Noah Landis and Greg Dale are in the same room as you – if not actually taking residence somewhere inside your head – the is something achingly frank and grittily real about every note… 9/10″ – Outburn

“Kelly’s solo work is no less ominous or atmospheric than his regular gig. He sounds like an apocalyptic troubadour playing in a dusty cowboy bar at the end of the world.” – The Onion’s A.V. Club

“The Forgiven Ghost in Me does well to move beyond some of the Townes van Zandt-ery of Kelly’s prior solo work – especially that one where, you know, he covered those Townes van Zandt songs – and somehow it makes sense that with the input of the others who appear here, Kelly should wind up with his most human and individualized outing yet.” – The Obelisk

EAST OF THE WALL Announces April East Coast/Midwest Tour; Deluxe LP Reissue Of Debut Album Slated

Tuesday, February 26th, 2013

Tech/prog metal squad EAST OF THE WALL this week transmits the details for their upcoming stateside April tour. Beginning with a home state kickoff show on April 12th, the tour will hit eleven cities across the East Coast and Midwestern U.S. Sponsored by long-running webzine Metal Underground, the trek will see EOTW teamed up with LA-based stoner/groove metal outfit All Hail The Yeti for all shows, with Indiana’s math/experimental metal outfit Exotic Animal Petting Zoo also joining the melee on three dates.

In conjunction with the new tour, EAST OF THE WALL will also issue a high-quality LP pressing of their previously out-of-print debut full-length, Farmer’s Almanac. Initially released on CD through Forgotten Empire Records in 2008, this 2013 edition of the Farmer’s Almanac broadcasts the entire maiden album performed by the band’s earliest lineup and is hitting the streets via EOTW’s cohorts at Nefarious Industries. It has been remastered at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves by Colin Marston, who originally recorded and mixed the album, and supplied guest guitar tracks during the recording sessions. The release will see limited pressings on 180-gram vinyl, with 250 copies on black and 250 on transparent blue, and will include an MP3 download coupon, all housed in a full-color gatefold jacket. Preorders can be placed here.

Recently EAST OF THE WALL posted a new digital single to benefit Translator Audio, the renowned NYC-based studio where the band and many others including Keelhaul, Unsane, Pelican, Cave In and Rosetta recorded some of their prime albums. Stream the track “I’m Always Fighting Drago” and purchase the two-song download to help rebuild Translator Audio RIGHT HERE.

EAST OF THE WALL will enter the studio in late Spring to construct their next massive LP for Translation Loss. More info will be announced in the coming weeks. Contact Earsplit PR for all EOTW press inquiries including previews and live coverage of the upcoming tour.
