HAVOK: New Live Footage Posted + Update From The Road

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Denver thrash battalion, HAVOK, are currently wrapping up a successful tour with Bay Area legends, Forbidden. The tour, which includes Revocation and White Wizzard, has ravaged its way through nearly two dozen cities with the band hitting Albuquerque, New Mexico tonight, Tempe, Arizona tomorrow and come to an official close  in Escondido, California on July 2.

Commented vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez: “This tour has been absolutely killer! I’ve never had so much fun on the road. We’ve seen some very rowdy crowds and have definitely wrecked some necks! Every band on this tour is solid, so people are definitely getting lots of bang for their buck. See ya in the pit!”

Check out footage of the band playing at Studio 7 in Seattle on June 13 below.

HAVOK [remaining dates]
w/ Forbidden, Revocation, White Wizzard:
6/30/2011 Launchpad – Albuquerque, NM
7/01/2011 Clubhouse – Tempe, AZ
7/02/2011 JT’s Limelight – Escondido, CA

HAVOK are touring in support of their critically-lauded Time Is Up full-length, released earlier this year via Candlelight Records. The record has earned near-perfect ratings from media big and small. Said Stereokiller in a 5/5 rreview: “I do not know why they are not opening the Big Four tour.” Metal Observer agreed calling the record,  “A must-listen for both thrash fans and fans of great metal music. One of the best thus far this year,” while Terrorizer noted: “Everything great about thrash — infectious, galloping riffs, hummable choruses, a vast array of gang vocals in ‘DOA’ — is employed, with their ace in the hole being Reece Scruggs, whose sumptuously-phrased solos, balancing shred, fiery modal moves and soulful, blues bends will suck in everyone from guitar nerds to song-structure curmudgeons.” Said Agnostic Front’s Roger Miret of the track “No Amnesty” in the April 2011 edition of Decibel’s Call & Response feature, “Thrash in the vein of Overkill, Nuclear Assault, Kreator etc. I don’t know if this is a new band or an old’s band new material, but it’s pretty kick ass!”

In case you missed it, check out the band’s video for “Covering Fire,” the fifth track off Time Is Up. The video was shot in Tyler, Texas, produced by Mike Gillespie and directed by Brian Jaynes.

ALL PIGS MUST DIE: Debut Full-Length Confirmed For August Release

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

Massachusetts slaughter squad ALL PIGS MUST DIE are preparing to set their debut full-length loose on the public this Summer. Entitled God Is War, the pummeling eight-song record album has officially been set for release on August 16, 2011 via Southern Lord Recordings, and bears some of the most hate-fueled hymns of the year.

Combining of old-school Swedish death metal savagery with explosive hardcore aggression and blistering, punk/d-beat energy, ALL PIGS MUST DIE have quickly become an extremely recognized and respected act in the mere year and a half since the band’s formation. Their crushing 2010-released self-titled EP was initially released on LP via the band’s own Nonbeliever Records, eventually catching the ear of Southern Lord, who almost immediately picked up the album for distribution, and signed the hard-working act for the release of their newly completed God Is War full-length.

A group committed to uncompromising sonic warfare APMD explode on God Is War, the album’s sound and lyrical content assaulting the listener in a fury of death-filled anthems. Their upbeat flurry is slowed only for the occasional snail-paced buildup of mammoth riff tension, the rush of obvious hatred for humanity relentlessly displayed through it all. Recorded and mixed by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at his God City Studio (Black Breath, Nails, Trap Them, Disfear) in December, the tone of God Is War is as foreboding as the music itself. The cover bears a fittingly dark drawing by famed artist Florian Bertmer, who was also responsible for the artwork on APMD’s self-titled EP.

God Is War Track Listing:
1. Death Dealer
2. Pulverization
3. Sacrosanct
4. God Is War
5. The Blessed Void
6. Third World Genocide
7. Total Extinction
8. Sadistic Vindicator

ALL PIGS MUST DIE contains vocalist Kevin Baker (The Hope Conspiracy), drummer Ben Koller (Converge), guitarist Adam Wentworth (Bloodhorse) and bassist Matt Woods (Bloodhorse). Since uniting in APMD in 2010, the band have toured regionally throughout the U.S., including multiple major assaults at this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, and several Scion-sponsored music showcases including their first West Coast appearance at Los Angeles’ The Roxy. APMD will return to the West Coast this August as they are scheduled to play several of the upcoming The Power Of The Riff shows.

PYRRHON: Selfmadegod Records To Re-Release Debut Album From NYC Death Unit

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Selfmadegod Records today announce that the label will re-release the debut album from New York City-based death metal outfit PYRRHON late this August.

A nightmarish blend of clanging death metal with surreal psychedelic elements, jazz rhythms, and delirious storytelling, An Excellent Servant But A Terrible Master features 45 minutes of crushing, modern death metal from this promising young act. Recorded by Dan Pilla at Bad Lab Studios in Tabernacle, New Jersey in early 2011, and mastered by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Dysrhythmia, Krallice) at The Thousand Caves Studios in Queens, New York, the cover art and layout created by Caroline Harrison, and the completed album self-released by PYRRHON directly. This August, Polish record label Selfmadegod will officially reissue the album with proper distribution and promotion worldwide. An official street date will be announced shortly.

An Excellent Servant But a Terrible Master Track Listing:
1. New Parasite
2. Glossolalian
3. Idiot Circles
4. Correcting a Mistake
5. Gamma Knife
6. The Architect Confesses (Spittlestrand Hair)
7. Flesh Isolation Chamber
8. A Terrible Master

PYRRHON formed in 2008 after a chance meeting on a subway platform, and have been honing their increasingly twisted take on the genre ever since. Their debut EP, Fever Kingdoms, was released by The Path Less Traveled Records in October 2010, and has consistently received laudatory reviews. Since their formation PYRRHON has gigged extensively in the greater New York City area and has shared the stage with Misery Index, Evoken, Liturgy, Cannabis Corpse, Creative Waste, The Binary Code, Gloominous Doom, Criminal Element, The Communion, Hung, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire, Humanity Falls, Flourishing, Three Faces of Eve, Questioner, Abdicate and more.

Stay tuned for further developments, updated live appearances and promo/coverage info on PYRRHON and the upcoming reissue of An Excellent Servant But a Terrible Master in the weeks ahead.

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Earsplit PR welcomes Los Angeles-based metal trio EINVERA and their self-released debut full-length, In Your Image, to our ever-expanding roster of clients.

Born of three musicians who crossed paths in music school in Los Angeles, EINVERA deliver a high-paced multi-instrumental explosion of technical metal born under the influence of nontraditional American folk music. With aggressive and psychedelic elements of progressive, death and black metal culminating in the EINVERA sound, with keyboards, banjo, vibraphone, accordion, mandolin, glockenspiel, pedal steel, violin, cello, trumpet and more infused into their already agile guitar, bass, drum skills, the entire album bearing a multi-dimensional clean/raw vocal attack. Professionally recorded at The Office Studios in Van Nuys, California (Motörhead, Dave Grohl, Alice Cooper, Zakk Wylde, etc.), In Your Image is an entertaining listen for fans of challenging and genre-expanding takes on traditional metal styles. Several tracks from the album are streaming now at EINVERA’s official Facebook page.

AMON AMARTH: “Destroyer Of The Universe” Video Premiere On Blank TV

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Starting today, fans can check out the new AMON AMARTH music video for the song “Destroyer of the Universe” off the band’s latest release, Surtur Rising. The live video, which is premiering exclusively on BlankTV , was shot on the band’s May 6th stop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Theatre Of Living Arts by director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye (The Black Dahlia Murder, The Devin Townsend Project, Suicide Silence, Municipal Waste, Whitechapel, etc).

Comments guitarist Olavi Mikkonen: “This time around we wanted to catch the energy and atmosphere of a live show, so we simply went for a live video. We look forward to get back to North America in August to continue and fulfill the ‘Evening with’ tour, meanwhile enjoy the video.”

Check out the video HERE and be sure to leave a comment.

In a recap of the band’s last tour in the US, Concertconfessions.com opined: “What is most beautiful about AMON AMARTH’s triumph of America is that it’s as pure as the music itself… Friends sharing with friends the magic of the music, that is a true token of success and judging on the reaction from Southern California on Easter Sunday 2011 – AMON AMARTH will have success for a very long time.” The Washington Times applauded the band for leaving, “the sold-out crowd awestruck by [their] mastery of melodic death metal,” About.com boasted, “I was highly impressed by AMON AMARTH’s stage presentation, which easily rivals that of bands that normally fill arenas,” while Skullsnbones.com put it simply: “One band came and conquered Atlanta and their name is AMON AMARTH!”

Don’t forget to catch AMON AMARTH live when the band returns to North America for the second leg of the “An Evening with AMON AMARTH” tour.

Scheduled to kick off in Vancouver on August 4, the trek will pillage its way through 21 cities, including several Canadian venues, and come to a close in Boise, Idaho on September 3. The first set will again feature the band performing the Surtur Rising album in its entirety while the second will offer up mixed bag of tunes from their extensive catalog of Norse-inspired awesomeness.

On Darkness In The Light, the quintet seamlessly fuse technical precision, brute force and exhilarating melody

into a record that Crave.com calls, “a first rate slice of metal that helps return the meat to the hollowed and empty husk of the metalcore genre.” Adds Decibel: “What they bring to the table every single time is a sense of vitality; Whether they’re tearing up a club at a headlining gig, opening for another band on a few square feet of stage space or blasting through headphones, that unmistakable energy is always there.”
