Pulverised Records is pleased to welcome Japanese death metal fiends GxSxD to their expanding roster of extreme! An abbreviation for “God Send Death,” GxSxD formed in 2002 and, barely a decade into the band’s career, found themselves touring massively throughout their homeland, gaining widespread popularity as one of the most powerful death metal acts to emerge from Japan. Offering an unforgiving, flawlessly executed assault of Euro-influenced DM, GxSxD’s live appeal is further accentuated by the synchronized windmill headbanging of twin brothers Yusuke and Yohsuke Oka’s.
Said the band of the signing: “Finally we have found our home! We are very excited to work with Pulverised Records since we [consider] them one of best labels around. We’ll prove what we can do.”
Added Pulverised A&R Manager Calvin Chiang: “I was instantly jaw-dropped by what I heard when I discovered GxSxD! Unbelievably tight with a vicious twin-guitar attack, GxSxD caught our attention and we knew they were — and are — in an exceptional class of their own. After some discussions with the band, the deal was quickly sealed and plans are currently underway for their second full-length effort, which we should expect sometime this year. GxSxD is truly an unstoppable force; be prepared for their brand of barbaric death metal!”
Pulverised label manager Roy Yeo agrees: “I had the pleasure of seeing GxSxD live in action when they stopped by in Singapore recently. The band is just visually stunning on stage and I was absolutely blown away! GxSxD is probably one of the most outstanding death metal band out of Asia that I’ve heard in a long time. It is a great honor to have GxSxD as a part of the Pulverised family and we will expect nothing less than a devastatingly crushing album from the band!”
Further details on GxSxD and their forthcoming full-length to be revealed at a later date… Stay tuned.
England’s Siege of Amida Records will release Beyond Cops. Beyond God, the new album from New Jersey’s WAKING THE CADAVER, in North America on August, 10th. Produced by Joe Cincotta (Suffocation, Internal Bleeding) and featuring incredibly visual art/packaging by Tony Khoel (The Black Dahlia Murder), Beyond Cops. Beyond God is the band’s first album to see proper American distribution.
With Beyond Cops. Beyond God, the five-piece go for broke delivering a lethal collection of unrelenting death-meets-gore-meets-grind-meets-hardcore anthems that will have the weak running for cover. A renewed commitment to the cause, with two new members now in their ranks, the album is a frightening, high caliber platter that will pierce any shell on impact.
To build up the album’s release, WAKING THE CADAVER have confirmed dates that will begin June 18 and currently run through July 30. Additional performances are planned for Canada. Regarding the upcoming tour, drummer Dennis Morgan says, “We are eager to show off our new material and see all of our fans again. These shows are going to be action-packed and full of pent-up energy that we have be waiting to release on the metal scene for quite some time now. Come see us in your state this summer.”
WAKING THE CADAVER have never apologized for anything and they are not about to start now. The band’s self-penned “slamming gore groove” has made an impact with audiences as fans and the curious have logged nearly four million views to the band’s MySpace page since launch. The band, currently featuring vocalist Don Campan, guitarists Rob Wharton and Mike Mayo, bassist Steve Vermilyea with Morgan, formed in 2006. The band’s debut, 2008’s Perverse Recollections of a Necromangler, has sold nearly 8000 copies via direct or independent means, triggering keen label interest in signing the band. England’s Siege of Amida stepped up to the plate signing the band earlier this year. Label co-owner Jamie Graham notes, “Waking The Cadaver bring a perfect blend of slam, death metal and hardcore. Grooves, speed, breakdowns, powerful vocals, dynamics, it’s all there on this record. They have manged to balance influences with creative force, forging their own devastating sound. It is a sickeningly heavy onslaught made for the live circuit to lose their heads to.”

In an official statement to American fans before the band’s headlining appearance at this year’s Maryland Deathfest, WATAIN frontman E. warns of the carnage to come. “We are leaving for the US in 11 hours from now, armed to the teeth and ready to murder. The Watain performance at Maryland Deathfest shall be a triumphant holocaust of all that is holy, and a massive celebration of the gods of Lawless Darkness! Be prepared…”
E. also released info on WATAIN’s lineup for this unholy excursion: “Due to legal bullshit, our brother Set will not be able to enter the States for Maryland Deathfest. E will handle the second guitar and vocals. The rest of the line up will be as always; H – Battery, P – Guitar, A – Bass. Try as you might, but nothing can stop the Devils sworn to do their work! Not even the tame resistance of the law.”
WATAIN will headline the first night of Maryland Deathfest 2010 this Friday night alongside other first day headliners D.R.I., Gorguts and Possessed, and will be the first stateside appearance from these mongrels since their 2008 Black Metal Magic tour.
Interviews with the band will be available at the festival, and for limited phone interviews while they are on U.S. soil this weekend. Please contact an Earsplit thug with any requests in these matters.
This is also the first North American WATAIN live action fueling their upcoming fourth full-length opus, Lawless Darkness, due out June 8th on Season of Mist. The monolithic release is sure to be considered the best black metal release of the year for many. A mammoth buzz on the new album, as well as WATAIN’s legions of ravenous, diehard fans has prompted many national and international magazines such as Decibel and Zero Tolerance to recently feature WATAIN on their covers.

“…The collective anticipation and tension swelled like a ripening fruit ready to burst…The slow riffs of [Jimmy] Bower [also the drummer of Down], Brian Patton [also Soilent Green’s guitarist] and relatively new bassist Gary Mader sounded as though they were literally being strummed beneath the surface of a murky Louisiana swamp, such was their slow and powerful delivery…It was a thunderous, distinctly southern kind of blues ‘n’ doom poured through a punk-rock filter.” — Hellbound live review (Emo’s, TX 2010)
Neurot Recordings is proud to announce the reissue of one of the most groundbreaking releases in the ever-expanding lineage of icons Neurosis, Enemy Of The Sun.
With Neurosis’ earlier releases — 1987’s Pain Of Mind, and even 1990’s The Word As Law — the band’s jagged and eerie blend of metallic, hypnotic, post-gutter punk was instantly recognized as wholly unique, yet it took multiple releases for the then Bay-area unit to infinitely define their sound, forcing the world to listen, then run for cover. Their 1992 full-length Souls At Zero showcased the band branching off into much more expanded songwriting, giving birth to much longer hymns, infusing them with tribal rhythms and slow-building post-doom bastardization, then breaking massive new ground for the metal world.
But it was their follow-up in 1993, the crushing Enemy Of The Sun LP, that would be the album to take the pulsing, hypnotizing monoliths NEUROSIS was crafting down to much darker, and much, much heavier territory for the rest of the band’s still-growing roster of masterpieces. Still to this day, critics and fans of heavy and experimental metal hold this release to be one of the harshest, spine-chilling, mind-warping releases in history, and countless acts have cited Enemy… as “the one that changed everything” for them.
The eight tracks on the release was one of the most massively cavernous, crushing records the world had experienced. A mesmerizing, pressurizing, dirge-driven display of brutal riffing, thick with haunting samples, layered, anguished vocal tracks, raging multiple-member percussion contributions, and some of the most mammoth buildups ever, Enemy Of The Sun was an album that left a sense of anguish in your soul long after the record was over.
Neurot Recordings are exceptionally proud to celebrate the 25th anniversary of NEUROSIS, and once again issue this classic album to the masses. 2010’s reissue of Enemy Of The Sun bears a fully redesigned package by visionary artist, NEUROSIS live visual master Josh Graham, and will be released worldwide on August 30th, 2010.
Enemy Of The Sun reissue track listing:
2. Raze The Stray
3. Burning Flesh In Year Of Pig
4. Cold Ascending
6. Enemy OF The Sun
7. The Time Of The Beast
9. Takehnase (demo version)
10. Cleanse II (Live In Oberhausen)
” …I’m so sad and heartbroken it’s hard to even believe what has happened. It feels like losing one of my best friends. Ronnie was such an incredible inspiration to me both as a musician and as a person. His tremendous talent, the depth of his voice, his sincere personality… it’s difficult to put into words the wonderful soul that he was to his friends and fans around the world. I’ve never seen a musician be as good to their fans the way Ronnie was. I’m so grateful that we were able to support Dio many times through out the years. Ronnie meant the world to me. I love him so much and miss him so deeply. Rest in peace, Ronnie. Your spirit will live on forever. We love you.” – Doro Pesch, May 2010
